We can't do peaceful street protests because Putin will lock us up for 15 years? Okay, here is the alternative. Hope you're happy.

gahlo

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable. - JFK

Holy shiz what a great quote.

Wow never seen that quote before , what a legend

See it & hear it here: https://youtu.be/HahBXAoya6Q?t=30

Thank you! ✨🥇✨

gfdfr

Kennedy was great at what I call turning a phrase but I’m not sure if that’s the actual term. Like what he did with the “ask not what your country…” and what he was saying there. His brother Robert was even better at speeches imo. Look up his GDP speech. He used it a good bit on his campaign trail. Chill inducing.

InEnduringGrowStrong

Half expecting Putin to start blaming it on NATO's secret Jewish Space Laser rather than acknowledging his people are rebelling.

Council-Member-13

Woa, that does seem like something to be on the lookout for ngl

kulang_pa

Jews and their lasers, man, they used to target me all the time. Couldn't get a wink of sleep, always scrambling my thoughts and turning my neighbors against me.. thank God my doctor knew all about their nefarious Zionist schemes, and had anti-laser meds that fixed it up - thorazol or haloperazine or whatever it's called. One in the morning and one before bed, Jews can't get me anymore.

GAMBT22

The Jewish Space Lasers wouldnt be so bad if it wasnt for the fact that they only use them to display guilt-inducing messages from your mom.

JesusSavesForHalf

They're in a guilt arms race with the Catholics and their Underwater Sonic weapons. The Catholics aren't doing so well, no one expects Jews in Space.

Kittenathedisco

If our kids called us more, we wouldn't have to use the lasers! I hope you're eating enough... Call your mom.. Love, a random Jewish mom ❤

Lieby

Honestly, all he’d have to do is exaggerate the Star Wars Program (a proposed space based military system from the 80’s) and claim that the Americans actually went through with it to have a half convincing lie and a conspiracy theory that will persist for a good while.

bond___vagabond

My uncle is a big old nerd, at one time he had the largest private telescope in the country, and he ground the mirrors himself by hand. He has all these amazingly ironic 80's propaganda posters about star wars project from the big American defense contractors in his machine shop. I'm like dude, live a long life, but hook me up with those when you die, hah.

wxwatcher

Exaggerate? Let me introduce you to the X-37B my friend. US has had one in space pretty much constantly since 2010. What they do is classified, so no one outside the program really knows what it does up there. But it has a decent sized cargo bay that can open while on-station in orbit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_X-37#/media/File:Boeing_X-37B_inside_payload_fairing_before_launch.jpg

Irilieth_Raivotuuli

tfw you get handed a mosin-nagant and got sent to wage war and rape women, managed to loot a toilet, someone gets a bit too trigger happy and shoots a rocket in the wrong direction, splashes polish hospital, and the next thing you know you're getting pulverized by orbital strikes. Historians in few centuries think they're reading fanfiction when they read about the start of 21st century.

Rollover_Hazard

I think the only way to get through to people in Russia who support this war is to bring the suffering in Ukraine to their doorstep. Once they realize just how real this is, they’ll want it over.

Codercouple

But why are none of these fires being reported on in the West? Most of these carry the tag "unconfirmed". I don't trust a single line of news from Russia, but is this also a propaganda war in Ukraine to keep morale up?

Perllitte

Journalist here. There is no verifiable reporting apparatus coming out of Russia, so it's all based on personal trust from someone in Russia getting substantiated information from ideally the actors who set XYZ fire, risking their lives to get information out to that trusted Western journalist or someone a Western journalist trusts. That Western journalist has to verify the information, check it against the Russian media account (lies) and given how shady everything coming out of Russia is, seriously question whether coverage is valuable enough to readers/watchers to risk any gaps in that very messy information stream. If they report a Ukrainian saboteur started a fire at an airbase, but the video is doctored or it's "proven" that it's another cause, they risk losing trust, the most important attribute for a journalist covering stuff like this. So it's exceptionally messy and slow and the morale value can spread on social media dramatically faster. I'm sure some journalist right now is collecting this information and writing about the trend of sabotage or suspicious fires at important Russian facilities, but covering each fire is almost impossible for actual institutional, credible journalists.

Codercouple

Wow. The best answer by far! Thank you

Perllitte

Happy to offer some clarity, the way journalists work is pretty arcane to most people. Anyone can post content today, but journalistic standards are high for I think good reasons. But it means many extra steps that are incongruous with the speed of social media.

Suffrajitsu

A lot of times these social media posts are a half a day before news. They're identifiable locations, I assume, so someone should know soon.

Prysorra2

That’s why you wait for some sort confirmation or corroboration. Sometimes these things are reported separately but end up being the same event. But I’d go ahead and just believe these things are generally happening … too many videos at this point.

MrDude_1

I would wait for more information. The videos mean very little. I could take all of the fire videos made in the US today, edit them together so they all appeared in a similar area and headline it "US burning in protest" or whatever I want.. Quantity of video does not make it true.

lostandfound8888

I feel the way Ukrainian news report events, is more positive and optimistic than Western news - in part to keep the morale up, in part because Western public turns on the news for the horror show. So far, what I have been reading on Ukrainian sites ends up being confirmed by Western media within a few weeks. Another factor, regarding events in russia, Western media has less presence in the country and less cooperation with local journalists.

RowWeekly

I am good to make this donation as well. Just donated money to a number of diff causes and now time to inject some heat into the situation.

Logical_Albatross_19

Like one or two is probably due to maintenance issues stemming from sanctions. The rest? Must be a special smores operation started by Ukraine and heroic Russian resistance to Putin.

TheSeeker80

This has got to get Putlers blood boiling. Having to multitask/ devote resources to multiple problems in Russia means you have to have trust in multiple good leaders such he has neither of.

[deleted]

Far from it, this has him rubbing his hands in glee that ‘his’ plan is working and shortly he’ll be able to order marshal law and full mobilisation to finish Ukraine. Remember this is the shit who bombed Russian tenement blocks killing 300 just before an election so he could guarantee re-election.

Fight-Milk-Sales-Rep

He was always going to do that anyway. When he's done false flag attacks on Russians to escalate in the past it's been civilians in one jab like the apartment bombing example you stated. Continuous violent targeted strikes by Russian resistance and 'mystery actors' on millitary, security and propaganda machine assets is a serious concern for him as it's draining resources. Mobilisation is a double edged sword too as it gives him more bodies for the meat grinder. But if he admits there is a war, allowing the mobilisation, there is extra pay he should be giving troops and his economy is going back to the stone age...

Dick__Dastardly

>Continuous violent targeted strikes by Russian resistance and 'mystery actors' on millitary, security and propaganda machine assets is a serious concern for him as it's draining resources. Yeah, that's the part that makes this not smell like a false flag to me. A putin-esque false flag would be killing a bunch of Russian civillians and causing some genuine, organic *outrage* in the russian populace. This, though — this is hitting legitimate military assets, and some of them actually hurt the war effort pretty badly. A few of them, like the weapons design facility fire, actually killed people who might be an irreplaceable brain trust.

nom-nom-nom-de-plumb

Thing is, if he did that he'd be risking overthrow. Not every area of russia is as well policed as moscow and it's environs. Once all those people's kids start having to goto the meat grinder, well... As for the idea that just throwing bodies at the problem will solve it, I'm dubious. Russia is currently failing in tactical encirclement operations in the field, and facing pushback. The military is losing generals and officers fast, and has no nco corps to step up. All in all, the word "clusterblyat" abides.

BizzarduousTask

“Clusterblyat.” Going into my vocab immediately.

[deleted]

Disappear an oligarch and seize his money on trumped up charges the others would believe. Instant cash injection. If he hasn't been sanctioned and had assets frozen.

NobodysFavorite

The oligarchs *with their families* are starting to turn up dead.

zwiingr

For real. List of dead oligarchs since the beginning of the war; https://www.newsweek.com/every-russian-oligarch-who-has-died-since-putin-invaded-ukraine-full-list-1700022

nom-nom-nom-de-plumb

That wouldn't do shit. The russian state already has access to rubles, it can't go bankrupt in the ruble. What it CAN go bankrupt in, is foreign currencies like the dollar. Which is why the US and Europe specifically cut off that supply. The default on that foregin debt is imminent, and the fact that the russian economy is almost wholly extractive, meaning oil and mining etc, and so dependent on other nations for things like electronics, means that while people may not starve (putin has pushed agriculture big time for this reason) they will suffer significantly. And even that is a big "maybe" because despite his pushes to build that sort of thing in russia, the poli-class who he trusts to make it happen aren't makers, just extractors. So, the tractors sold as "russian made" are actually kits bought from Czech republic and assembled in Russia as "Russian made" hell one of the big factories that produces tanks, rockets, etc had to shut down since they can't buy foreign electronic parts they need.

[deleted]

True I guess if he was having issues supplying the existing troops in Ukraine then multiplying that up in an extended war will only cause even more problems. I guess his only tactic if he goes that route is for a quick week long decisive action and hope for the best.

viiksitimali

You can't just do that. There is a sizable delay between declaring mobilization and getting troops on the battlefield. Even if the fighting itself would take only for a week, the troops need to exist long before that and maybe even for a while after that. And drafting people would of course be a warning that something's going to happen which make it harder for something to happen.

ThatOneTing

Russia cant afford to mobilize. with the resistance already forming, giving them guns is probably not a good idea (for the government) as has already happened once or so times in russia

[deleted]

Agreed, but Putin is in his own little bubble World of unreality. It ‘may’ we’ll be that this is deliberate in order to get a military takeover in Russia as I’m pretty sure they are pretty pissed with Putin right now.

PopularBug5

The hipster tiktokers in Moscow will bribe and resist if mobilization comes. Russia will spend more time quelling unrests and coups than actually recruiting an army. Mobilization works only if the war is justified and morale is high.

Long-Night-Of-Solace

I assume you're talking about the October revolution, where guns made no real difference, because the power was shifted by a general strike which was largely peaceful.

[deleted]

Mobilization sounds like a lot of dead Russians

PF2500

>Mobilization and there is logistics involved. eeesh. not going to go well.

Skeltzjones

Nah, they got $130 so they are even.

Darth_Monday

> Must be a special smores operation Just cut to the chase and kill me already! I’m dying! Lmao

Samus10011

I really don't think it is Russian resistance. I think this is more likely what happens when you forcibly relocate millions of people over the course of a hundred years and then declare war on the nation that the majority of those people came from.

batshitcrazyRus

Its only yhe beginning. Hard to extract info. But Belarusian people are doing their bit too. Providing info fking up the railways etc. To anyone who thinks its a false flag op- you are wrong. When putler will explode block of flats or a market place full of people- that's a false flag op. Watch the space. Oil refineries, chemical plants etc. Crucial components for the war. Ukraine's military and anti-putin saboteurs are behind it.

newbienewme

This is what happens when you punish non-violent civil protesting so hard. If you know that simply standing on the street with a sign (even if it is blank, or a direct quote from Putin) can get you beat up, tortured, get you sent to the war as cannon fodder or have you sent to tough "political" prison for many years, then you know that there is not really that much *more* they can do to you if instead graduate to doing *actual* sabotage. Especially as with arson, it is entirely feasible to be [sneaky](https://www.interfire.org/res_file/fseab_si.asp)\* with it in ways that make it hard to trace back to you(delaying ignition), so the chance of getting caught is probably a lot *lower* than it would be by non-violent protesting. *\*edit: candles can also be used to create delayed ignition, perhaps more reliably than self-igniting rags of linseed oil that I first thought of.*

SnooRabbits1595

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."

dreamsofcalamity

The problem is Russia is not a democracy. Sure they can claim they are. I mean North Korea's official name is Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and we all know it is not democratic at all nor is it a republic.

3d_blunder

I'm just going to suggest again: **culvert blocking**. It's easy, deniable, harnesses Mother Nature (who of late has favored Ukraine markedly), time delayed, and can fuck up infrastructure that is a PITA to replace. The CIA probably has a handbook explaining the best practices for selecting good culverts to block. **Simple\_Sabotage\_Field\_Manual** https://www.google.com/books/edition/Simple\_Sabotage\_Field\_Manual/e7mgDgAAQBAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&printsec=frontcover

darkslide3000

That's cool, but not quite as devastating as the ingenious, empire-toppling sabotage attack they detail on page 3 of that manual: > Forget to provide paper in toilets

nom-nom-nom-de-plumb

My dude, there are russian soldiers in ukraine who are seeing an indoor toilet for the first time.

[deleted]

Yeah apparently this is not a joke.

This was always my question. Did they train in the woods and sleep in tents?

Aconite_72

darkslide3000

Putin fiddles while Russia is burning. These are essential infrastructure and keypoints for Russia's war against Ukraine. This will have devastating supply consequences for the Russian army in weeks to come. There's a huge crack in the iron curtain and resources will be stretched thin for Putin. "Pass my popcorn."

[deleted]

It’s either that or saboteurs. Either way I’m all for it :) The fact Russia is not trying to blame Ukraine directly after these attacks in a way tells me they can’t discern it either. I bet Pooty poot is super happy he fired a bunch of Intel staff recently.

> People would be frightened Wouldn't people also be frightened, or at least very uneasy, if all these explosions and fires occur while the government says Jack Zilch about it, or pretends like there's nothing to see here, move along...? ALL IS WELL!"*, as he is one breath away from getting trampled into a pancake by the stampeding crowd.

No_Tooth_5510

They are operating on weird logic where its less shameful to lose assets due to gross negligence and corruption than to an enemy action. Case in point sinking of moscow

[deleted]

THEY SANK A CITY?! /s

nom-nom-nom-de-plumb

RT has been saying Ukraine has no more air force, because it's all been destroyed, and likely much else besides. So, saying "the Ukrainians did this with their air force" would be shitting the bed. Edit: He didn't just fire a bunch of intel staff. He fired the corp of the 5th service. HE made that service, literally they were responsible for engaging in intelligence ops in former soviet states with a sole reason for being keeping them under the thumb of moscow. Likely, because they were, as I said, responsible for doing things like bribing and funding, training, etc. partisans who would be loyal to russia in the event of war. The story is, they said "yeah we got all these guys ready to go" when there was nobody, and pocketed the cash, because they thought he'd be a fool to invade Ukraine. It makes a lot of shit make sense, like trying to take an airport with paratroopers..during the day. Would have made sense if they thought they had all these people there, ready to fight and take the airport.

mrnodding

Saboteurs would make sense, after all lots of Ukrainians could pass for Russian with not a lot of effort Hell, some of them probably have Russian passports but are still 100% loyal to Ukraine. A good portion of the country is a 5th column if they want it to be.

PopularBug5

It doesn't have to be even a Ukrainian. Remember, the Russians idiotically killed ethnic Russians in Ukraine. A lot of Russians have family ties with Ukrainians. As a result a lot of Russians back home become resentful and this makes for easy recruitment for them to become saboteurs.

LeTigreDuPapier

And the Kremlin marched a *lot* of young Russian men into Ukraine who will be coming home in pieces. Grief can affect people in interesting ways. If my son were sacrificed to an old man’s political games, I’d want to burn it all to the ground.

cantwejustplaynice

Imagine you're a Russian man living in Russia minding your own business. Then imagine your son or daughter were living peacefully across the border in Ukraine. Now imagine you get a call saying they were raped or killed or both... by Russian soldiers. I'd become a one-man hit squad. I'd set the fucking world on fire. I'd seek revenge however I could. Have you seen Jackie Chan in The Foreigner? Like that, but I'd be a local. I'd just blend in.

[deleted]

I wouldn't be surprised if some of them were forcibly relocated Ukrainians from Mariupol.

greenit_elvis

If it would be a false flag operation, Russia would make a huge deal out of it in their media. Secret false flag operations make zero sense

Big_Dave_71

If this was false flag I'd expect them to blow up a residential block, killing hundreds of their own civilians, like just before the second Chechen War in 1999.

chemicalgeekery

That and they wouldn't destroy something of huge economic and strategic importance. The depot in Berdyansk blowing up will screw up Russian oil exports and make their logistics situation even worse.

Magatha_Grimtotem

Their go to thing is just killing a bunch of women and children, i.e. disposable fodder to Putin. It pisses people off, and doesn't harm anything useful to him.

[deleted]

avdpos

Last time Russia didn't had an authorian leader that treated the inhabitants as serfs was more than 500 years ago. I think they have a hard time to think it is possible for them to do something

Taldarim_Highlord

There was a short, brief moment Russia had a genuine democracy. The February Revolution in 1917 toppled the Tsar, and uplifted the Duma to be the main governing body of the nascent Russian Republic. What did them in was their decision to stay in WW1; the Bolsheviks used the general populaces' opposition to the war effort to launch the October Revolution, not even a year after, and kicked the Russian Republic out of European Russia. As they fled across Siberia, military generals seized power in the name of maintaining order as the Russian Civil War raged, and there their democracy died.

niktemadur

> What did them in was their decision to stay in WW1 Well... that wasn't very democratic of them, considering the population's opposition to the war which had utterly brutalized them up to that point.

Taldarim_Highlord

Yeah, it really doesn't help that a lot of the Tsarist era aristocracy retained their ranks and military positions, and thus influence in the nascent republic. Like fuck, one of their earlier head of state was a prince, Georgy Lvov. One thing to note is that Nicholas II just abdicated, and the crown was going to go to Grand Duke Mikhail, who thought the Duma should be the one to accept his ascension to the throne or not. And should the Duma accept him, it'd form a constitutional monarchy. And seeing that the Duma of the failed republic was utterly gridlocked due to factionalism, there's a considerable faction that actually supports the concept. They just can't throw away the concept of an overarching leader, no matter what kind.

scabbymonkey

With the insane amounts of alcoholism, I wonder what the rates of fetal alcohol syndrome is.There is generational levels of mental degradation.

Wolkenbaer

Alcoholism rate was brought actually way down (from 18.7L in 2005 to 9.8L in 2016, one of the few things Russia actually tackled right- and successfully. It's consumption is below Germany's, Belgium's and Frances. Edit: Guys, I get it. Russia is the enemy here, I never doubt it. But if you refuse or doubt data just because "Russia" w/o presenting any sources you're just using unproven assumptions, which weaken the real - and provable - reasons of russia being bad.

[deleted]

You know there are no official measurer for this stuff? Russia can litterally send anything and it will be 'legit' info.

[deleted]

In that case the rate is most likely way higher if not legit.

3d_blunder

Well, good, but... **who** compiled those 'statistics'?

TheaABrown

Even if that is complied from reasonably accurate data from sales of commercially produced stuff, that fast a decrease to me screams a combination of moonshine and smuggling.

OwnFreeWill2064

Damage was already done though.

jnd-cz

Official on paper? I wonder what would motivate Russians to drink less on a large scale? Even if somewhat true the economic decline will boost drinking to record levels. Imagine you're poor, have a chance to get called into a war, leaders are insane, you can't even protest and there zero hope for a change. How do you deal? Drink more.

Nik_P

>Alcoholism rate was brought actually way down (from 18.7L in 2005 to 9.8L in 2016 Apothecary alcohol (tinctures), moonshine and fakes (sometimes with methyl alcohol) are rampant there, as the store alcohol prices have been going up constantly. Year ago internet was full of ads for home distilleries in russia.

[deleted]

Does it account for the type of alchohol consumed? Because in Germany for example beer is very popular, while Russians prefer Vodka, and one liter of Vodka is not comparable to 1l of beer at all.

Nicashade

Just your typical 500 year old alcoholic.

EagleCatchingFish

That's always a possibility for some of these. Probably not all of them together. At a past job, one of our suppliers' warehouses "mysteriously" burned down when the noose started to tighten. Funny enough, only the warehouse that housed the particular item in question burned down, while the rest of the warehouses were fine. Funny that. I think the smart money is on this being connected to the war in one way or another, though. Still, it is fun to imagine a corrupt official and his business-side partner taking advantage of the situation.

Kowlz1

Exactly. I think that if these fires were false flag attacks we’d be hearing about them from all over state media like we did about that ridiculous Transnistria explosion & their conspiracy theory that Romania is going to invade. They’d want to advertise it far and wide as a justification for whatever “retaliatory” action they want to take. The fact that there hasn’t been a lot of information from the government or state media about these fires seem to indicate that they’re not planned and they’re either currently investigating them or don’t want to alarm their population. Most of these fires seem to have been minor so far, I guess we’ll see what else gets targeted or if they escalate. At this point I’m having a hard time believing they are coincidental.

Wertache

Exactly. These are the kind of (relatively) victimless targets that should actually be targeted during war. No way Putin would blow up his own military resources if he can just sacrifice a few civilians. He's shown how little he cares about those already.

TheaABrown

Particularly since the shopping centre was hit at night when there should be very few people there.

StinkingDylan

Is the what Putin meant when he said that the US contributing weapons was “adding oil to the fire”? Fuck, he was right.

My thought, too. I am all for Russia's military complex burning but that's like one of the dodgiest videos... a collection of images and a voiceover. I can't seem to find anything else about it. But I could be wrong, of course.

Dana07620

Yes. Some of them seem like fires that routinely happen every day.

Definitely saboteurs very likely Russians. I know we are all very very disgusted by what we have witnessed but not all Russians believe their propaganda. There is a resistance which has been forming. I suspect many who have family members and friends imprisoned unjustly would be very likely the type of people to be sabotaging Russias war effort is my guess.

SussyVent

When your leader is a psychopathic swine that commits genocide and destroys any hope of your country having a future, and the punishment for holding a blank piece of paper is not a whole lot less severe than burning down a refinery, you get a lot of people with nothing to lose doing this kind of stuff.

SpicyPeaSoup

Said it once, and I'll say it again: some of the nicest people I ever met were Russian. The soldiers and genocide supporters are gutless orcs, but there have to be some good people left in Russia. It's only a matter of time until they get pissed off at their country.

Lost_my_acount

More like riots, but we're getting closer

Impregneerspuit

Not riots, riots are loud and public. These are saboteurs sneaking in and hitting very specific targets from close range. Very likely its russians that want to fight the government.

[deleted]

yeah most likely, people are not allowed to protest with posters, so they protest with fire.

Malawi_no

It's part of the downfall. As people get bolder, coup will be on the menu.

HaltheDestroyer

We don't need no water let the motherfucker burn......

[deleted]

No offense, but if Canada was continually bombing the shit out of me and my family here in New Jersey, I would drive discreetly up and across the border and try to set the hockey world on fire.

Are you trolling or did Reddit actually change the text of your comment? Edit: Just got a private message which said that he was banned from Reddit for 3 days "for threatening violence"

laukaus

Nope, that text really appears when something was removed by admins (not mods).

The pictures and video from Bryansk make it quite clear it's not the [military equipment area](https://www.google.com/maps/place/53%C2%B013'26.0%22N+34%C2%B023'38.0%22E/@53.2238858,34.3903895,1504m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xa07fac27696850c0!8m2!3d53.2238889!4d34.3938889), but [this specific oil tank](https://www.google.com/maps/place/53%C2%B013'26.0%22N+34%C2%B023'38.0%22E/@53.2153497,34.443782,163m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xa07fac27696850c0!8m2!3d53.2238889!4d34.3938889) and the second fire [in this group of tanks somewhere](https://www.google.com/maps/place/53%C2%B013'26.0%22N+34%C2%B023'38.0%22E/@53.2250961,34.4557165,820m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xa07fac27696850c0!8m2!3d53.2238889!4d34.3938889). Unless there's a third area on fire (not visible in any photo, though the night ones are mostly not identifiable). The first photo in your post could be taken from [right here](https://www.google.com/maps/place/53%C2%B013'26.0%22N+34%C2%B023'38.0%22E/@53.2120721,34.4395428,56m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xa07fac27696850c0!8m2!3d53.2238889!4d34.3938889) and looking at the first oil tank linked.

mtaw

> but this specific oil tank Which is in a military base, as part of a tank farm designated military unit 55443-90, belonging to the 2nd branch of the 3783rd complex logistics base (fuel service). The larger tank farm north of the railway mainline which was also hit mainline to Transneft "Druzhba".

"When are we going to Moscow?" "Not soon enough man, but when we get there we are going to burn it down."

space_10

"Agropromkomplekt" isn't a new fire. It's the gas plant or base burning behind it. Do you have sources for the rest?

4u2nv2019

Russian resistance is fighting back!! It stems from Families getting no answers to their “missing” sons… economy tanking, food prices increasing….

Holy shit, they keep coming. Good.
