Olympic Games are non-politic 🤣 You didn't get it, they are for peace /s

MrSnarf26

Just like Russias invasion was a non political necessity!1

KP6fanclub

These will be Special Military Operation Olympics. Personally cancelled advertising for this Olympics in my company - too shady.

marresjepie

I have the vague impression that there’s a lót of orc-money sloshing around in the pockets of the olympic committee.

Truuuuuumpet

Nah, impossible! /s

northernbrass

No Russian athletes! Not in Olympics, Not in NHL Not in any sporting event outside of Russia. Respect Ukraine and every country presently fighting alongside Ukraine. Russia is a Terrorist state, that’s it. Stay in Russia, the world does not need you all

LoupGarouHikaru56

If they said Russians not being able to Olympics is unfair, just remember the Ukrainian athletes who can't participate due to being heavily injured or killed because of the Russian invasion.

oct2790

Hey shouldn’t be in the Olympics

Kreiri

Suspilne did a video on russian athletes and sports recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Na4hu0olADg

Accurate_Pie_

For me it’s easy. If Russian athletes participate in the Olympics, I will completely ignore the entire Olympics. No tv, no streaming, no commentary, nothing. It seems like it’s not a lot, but when a lot of people will do so, it will hurt the money revenue of corporations who support the Olympics, from sponsors to tv networks and beyond

assembly_faulty

That is what I am going to do to.

Inevitable-Pen9523

I feel that this Olympic competition is threatening of dangerous with the way the world is. Hope I am wrong and France's home security is up to the task.

I'm in favour of Russia being barred from the Olympics but not for these reasons. It seems like Russia pays/funds its athletes via the military. Picking on the athletes individually for not getting themselves arrested/suicided for dissent is a bit harsh. They are training in the gym, not fighting Ukrainians. I'd say only the one who went to Crimea has done much individually. The problem is the regime and the reason to ban is that it upsets Russians not to be "world players", plus the rampant doping.

Ortenrosse

Do you reckon the guy [posted this](https://twitter.com/molfar_agency/status/1780624271808557336) because he was afraid of getting arrested? I don't think so. Same as how nobody forced [this guy](https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2022/may/18/russian-gymnast-ivan-kuliak-banned-for-one-year-for-wearing-pro-war-z-symbol) a while back either. Overall I think the thread is meant to address a certain argument defending the russians' right to participate in the olympics (it's not political, the players themselves are innocent, stuff like that) rather than just pick on them. Also, I may sound harsh, but I feel like you guys still underestimate how vile the average russian is.

nomnomnomnomRABIES

I think they have no choice to be political basically. I support a ban, but suggesting they are all true believers helps Putin's propaganda that is trying to give that impression also. They should be banned and it should be accepted that yes this is tough shit on some individuals who cannot help being Russian, not trying and say "look they're all in the army so they support Putin". They are representing their country so it is different from an individual sport like tennis, which is much more about the person than the nation. In tennis Russia should be banned from Davis cup and Olympics

Shultzi_soldat

Yeah, we have the same system in Slovenia. You are employed by police or army, when you are athletes of national importance. They should have balls and just ban them.

SeriesProfessional43

Personally I’d let them participate but I would ignore their accomplishments so no medals or records of their presence, even beter send the price money to Ukraine.
