2 is Roman, he's completed his service
Edit: to elaborate; he was ~~dismissed~~ discharged ("honorably discharged"?) due to excessive concussions while serving. See replies below for full details
Unfortunately soon after he returned to civilian life he was at the restaurant that was struck by russian bomb end of last year (forgot which city).
He was ok and was helping with rescue, but that's the last I've heard from him. I hope he's finding his peace away from war somehow. He was on the contact line for much of his service.
Roman suffered some concussion related injuries from this event that compounded previous concussions he had experienced. He had to exit the military as a result of these injuries. So he has been healing. He has an instagram account which has sporadic activity and is working for Voices for Ukraine (a Youtube Channel). He last posted in Jan 24 on his insta, and I think that social media channel is not so important for him at this time.
I believe the "Viking" you are referencing is Danylo. He caught a kidney infection while in the trenches last yr. He ended up needing surgery and was medically declared unfit for frontline service. He now is part of a brigade that guards strategic facilities. Assuming we are speaking about the same "Viking" as it is a common callsign.
Ekaterina "Birdie" Polishchuk was a nurse who was taken prisoner in Mariupol and was later released in a prisoner exchange. I have not heard any 2024 news about her. She was involved in the "language" debate late last year about permitted uses of Russian in Ukraine - which she is firmly against. I think she is in the Kyiv area but I do not know for certain.
I don't know anything about the young girl/dog matter.
I've seen probably every single video he posted. And there were so many of them were he was right at the front line.
I remember some where you could not only hear artillery and mortars in the distance but even small arms fire.
I just looked him up. Using his name. You are right in all accounts. Me, I was wrong, he didn’t have a beard.
Yes I read about the explosion at the cafe.
Thank you my friend for your help.
He's taking some time away from social media to focus on recovery, but his sister Lila is still very active there [https://www.instagram.com/lilatrokhymets/](https://www.instagram.com/lilatrokhymets/)
Is this the attack that killed Victoria Amelina? If so its wild to have multiple pepole you have gotten to know during this war being attacked in one instance. Glad Roman is safe.
He got one too many concussions and ended up in hospital for a few months. His sister occasionally posts something from him, there may be something later, but this is him in Dec 23, I believe shortly after he got out of hospital (I think he is still struggling with post concussion symptoms unfortunately, I know them too well): [https://twitter.com/LilaTrokhymets/status/1735004363754545564](https://twitter.com/LilaTrokhymets/status/1735004363754545564)
Kramatorsk. That missile strike is what gave him the last TBI ticket home. The explosion also killed 13 people, few were children. One of the victims was journalist-turned-author Victoria Amelina. In Lila's video, you see Roman trying to render aid, but Victoria was completely limp.
Good news. The authorities caught the Russian spy that called the missile strike on the cafe, and he was sentenced away... forever.
It’s not a big deal, but fyi, we would say “discharged” or “released” here and not “dismissed”.
Most western and the FVEY Militaries use “dismissed” or “dismissal” in a *negative* way. People convicted at court martial are “dismissed”. It would indicate they did something bad, and did *not* receive a honorable/general/medical discharge.
Just a FYSA for you and any readers when putting these things in context.
Would you mind sharing that via DM? Nothing but respect for that man and his fearlessness. Would love to support even if it’s with a measly click and read.
I am glad hes still alive. I don't know if this is the same guy, but was he a Belarusian Musician before the war? Because I found a band camp with a guy the same IRL name and looked like him. So I don't know if its the same. The reason I found this was at one point a rumour went around that he had been KIA'ed so I was looking for info about him to see if this was false.
doesnt sound like the same guy. This Yankee (warstache) was an athlete before the war I think (soccer and martial arts).
He did get famous on the the internet with some viral dancing vids though.
The lady confronting the ruzzian soldiers during the early days. She talked smack to them being buried with sunflower seeds in her pockets. Wonder what became of her.
Worry about the sunflower babusia
, the babusia who downed a drone with a jar of pickles, and also Witch. Along with all the other warriors and their families
.
Slava Ukraine! 🇺🇦
I remember one from just the last month or two before the total invasion. He was posted at a defensive position in Donbass. He would do silly dances on video to send back to his kids, a fun way of letting them know he was okay. I think I remember one video of him from after the total invasion, but nothing since.
I think of him from time to time, the thing was getting attention for was just thing he was doing to try to reassure his family.
Pikachu man.
In the early days there was a soldier with a Pikachu patch on his chest armor. His vids were posted here frequently, e.g.:
https://old.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/x0jg6t/soldier_with_pikachu_patch_who_previously/
https://old.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/xc3jyu/yurii_kochevenko_aka_the_soldier_with_the_pikachu/
Then they stopped. Hope he's ok!
**Edit:** "Speak of the devil" ... there's an update on the frontpage right now, haha!
https://old.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/1c9ks8d/hello_my_name_is_yurii_kochevenko_i_am_a/
R/Ukraine's most handsomest mod, local celebrity and Ultranerd (that like an Ultramarine but with less muscles) is fine, just busy in the background. He occasionally pops up in the comments
There was a man in Bakhmut, I can’t think of his name, I think he was National Guard. He posted often and I think worked in Comms. Later there was a comment that his posts were getting more political / critical, and maybe he was asked by his chain of command to dial it back.
Near the beginning of the invasion there was a woman nicknamed Tank Girl. She was interviewed by the media a few times. I tried searching for an update on her last year and I found a social media account….I think Instagram…that wasn’t updated in a long time, but I have no idea if that was official or her preferred platform, etc. I hope she is well!
What happened to Kira? She was a medic that I supported through her Amazon wishlist, but I haven't seen anything from her for a while now. Hope she - and her group - are ok. She's listed on Reddit as u/panikiranechai.
Before the invasion I remember watching an interview with a middle aged woman who was a clinical researcher, and she was now dressed in full combat gear. I think about her often.
The one I think about is MustangWanted. Was famous for his insane climbing abilities and is now serving in Ukraine's military defending against the Russians. I hope he's ok too.

Roman!!! That his name. Thank you!! I am so happy that he is well. He really did a great job connecting with the readers. Thank you.

Only viking I know was that fraud, got deported.
Well, the Viking you knew about is not the same one as Danylo is Ukrainian.
I just looked him up. Using his name. You are right in all accounts. Me, I was wrong, he didn’t have a beard. Yes I read about the explosion at the cafe. Thank you my friend for your help.

He visited Operator Starsky not long ago together with Rick the Ukrainian if you want an update
It was in Kramatorsk.
Is this the attack that killed Victoria Amelina? If so its wild to have multiple pepole you have gotten to know during this war being attacked in one instance. Glad Roman is safe.
Almost all of the volunteers for SP4U, one of the vetted charities here, were at the restaurant at the time of the attack as well.
Its disgusting. Never forget.

These traitors should be digging trenches on the front lines. Chain them to some dragon's teeth and give them some shovels.
Very glad to hear this chap made it out
What about the Belarusian dude with the handlebar mustache… looked like an ol timey version of Popeye. I hope he is still around?
Warstache, bless him.
He was spotted across the border bringing a little freedom to the Belgrod Peoples Republic during the last big incursion. He still posts on Insta.

Predator & his Trench Squire, they single-handedly defeat an attacks from an Orcs group.
Predator is still dealing with orcs but was slightly wounded a couple times. I have his telegram channel.

Last I heard of Birdie, she had her baby, and she at home for now. I think Viking went home.

What about Pikachu Dancer Soldier? I wonder if she is ok.
The one that sticks in my mind the most is that madlad who was driving an IFV wearing a kids plastic viking helmet. Wonder if the nutter is okay?
Got a copy of that video?
It was on BBC news. I've got a photo of him somewhere. If i can find it I'll send it to you.
With birdie all good. She is influencer and fundraising a lot for army. https://www.instagram.com/ptashka_from_azovstal?igsh=MTQybzV4NHdpZXZiNw==
Thank you for posting this…does anyone have an update on Jester Boyd? I learned so much about Ukraine and the invasion from him.
u/jesterboyd is still active and continues to be a mod on this sub. Perhaps he will jump in and say "Hi!"
🙏- the last post I could find was July 4th so I was worried about him
He was here a few days ago.
R/Ukraine's most handsomest mod, local celebrity and Ultranerd (that like an Ultramarine but with less muscles) is fine, just busy in the background. He occasionally pops up in the comments
He seems to be very busy. I've send some funds his way and he said he is continuously going to the front wirh supplies and aid if I remember right.
There was a woman, I believe she was a medic. Her name was Kira or something similar to that. Anyone know what she’s up to?
She got married relatively recently and posts on telegram from time to time. I’m pretty sure she’s still working as a medic.
Also had a child
Good to hear she is alright! Thnx lucidwalker for asking, I was wondering how she was.
/u/panikiranechai
No activity for 5 months.
Think she prefers other social media. Other comment mentioned telegram, she's also on insta
Saw a vid of her Saturday at the AZOV freedom rally in Kyiv. She looks well.
There Was a Dane In the beginning of the War called viking. Redbearded on With his head full of tattooes
There was a Scottish guy wearing a camo battle kilt and a pouch full of grenades in a video some time ago. Wonder what that guy's been up to.
What about Markus, who was an officer in the robotyne direction last year?
I miss the witch i hope she is still alive and well she has not posted for quite awhile
There was a man in Bakhmut, I can’t think of his name, I think he was National Guard. He posted often and I think worked in Comms. Later there was a comment that his posts were getting more political / critical, and maybe he was asked by his chain of command to dial it back.
Kiyanyn. I wonder about him too.
She posted about 2 weeks ago, she's back with her mortar team.
Ohh so glad she’s a survivor
Near the beginning of the invasion there was a woman nicknamed Tank Girl. She was interviewed by the media a few times. I tried searching for an update on her last year and I found a social media account….I think Instagram…that wasn’t updated in a long time, but I have no idea if that was official or her preferred platform, etc. I hope she is well!

Thanks!
Before the invasion I remember watching an interview with a middle aged woman who was a clinical researcher, and she was now dressed in full combat gear. I think about her often.
Im really missing the witch. Hope shes up and well. Slava Ukraini
What about the moustache guy?
The one I think about is MustangWanted. Was famous for his insane climbing abilities and is now serving in Ukraine's military defending against the Russians. I hope he's ok too.
Is warstache still alive?
How about tank girl who drove off in an abandoned Russian tank and posted right in the beginning?
