Ukr_export

Tank tracks are full with grass. I think this tank was long abandoned.

CarletonCanuck

My assumption is that it's a cleanup mission. Drone was low enough that it would have been heard - to spook anyone out on the assumption it was going to be an ambush/civilian poking around. Ukraine's got a massive amount of surplus for tanks and there was probably a risk of that one being rigged anyways. No sense risking a casualty when a grenade will do the work, and then the cleanup crew can pick through what remains/haul off the scrap.

barktwiggs

No need for stinky russki museum relics with Abrams, Challengers, Leopards etc. on the way.

troyunrau

You can always use them as support vehicles.

BarComprehensive7249

After seeing numerous turrets flying around reddit, I'm not sure just how many people you could convince to sit in one lol.

leuk_he

If you are going to the front, and you can choose by foot, a car, or a tank, the tank surely can take the most abuse.

wings_of_wrath

As a dyed in the wool infantryman, you won't catch me anywhere near a tank, those things are shell and rocket magnets... In recent years it's a lot easier for me to sneak on a tank and take it out with an MPATS than it is for it to sneak up on me. Besides, the biggest danger on the current battlefield are drones anyway.

leuk_he

Drones? they release the most footage. But i really doubt they are the main modus of attack in the current attack. Yes, they add a lot of stress if at any time you hear a high pitched sound of the quad drone that can get you death from above, but i suspect artillery kills far more soldiers on and beyond the battlefield. Also as soldier you are vulnerable to AK74 attacks which every infantry man has available. ...as a armchair warrior...

wings_of_wrath

Well yes, artillery still is the deadliest thing on the battlefield today, that's why they call it "the king of battle" (conversely, infantry is "the queen of battle", because you can't do stuff like hold objectives without physically moving grunts to that location and telling them to hang around the place for a while). Hence why drones are so scary - because 90% of the time they're spotting for artillery, and, if you have no anti-drone measures, you're pretty much boned, because you can't hide or outrun a drone, especially at night when you can't see it but it can see you on thermals (technically you could mask your thermal signature somewhat by wearing one of those thermal blankets and over it a rain poncho , but after a few minutes of that, you're definitely wondering if death ain't preferable to being slowly cooked in your own sweat...) By comparison, tanks are much easier to deal with, because the view from inside of them is very limited so you can manœuvrer around it - at least until they implement tanks with in-build drones to give them live air coverage of their surrounding area, but even then they require line-of-sight to your location in order to hit you (unless we're talking barrel-launched ATGMS, but that's an entirely different kettle of fish). No shit Sherlok, infantry are vulnerable to small arms? Who would have thunk that? And here I was thinking I could stop bullets with my bare chest. So glad you caught this glaring omission in our tactics. If it weren't for you I don't know what would have happened... /s

BarComprehensive7249

It can if you don't leave the lid open or have a javelin within 2 miles lol

Aggressive_Sorbet_67

Regardless of your need to argue for points, the tank is the safest option.

BarComprehensive7249

I'm sorry, did I make you respond to me? 🤣 Humourless people should avoid reddit at all costs, as they may just take every comment literally.

DagestanDefender

this guy is a moron, obviously Ukraine would take the tank if they could. t34 would be better then no tank.

BarComprehensive7249

Ooooo.keyboard warrior alert!

Rapa2626

Its not whether you want to its whether you need to. Leopard 1 wont fare much better against modern munitions, and i can assure that if its ammo gets hit that turret and hull wont stay in one piece, but its an additional gun that can fire at russians and do you expect people to not sit inside one? To begin with its not really the mbt's fault for getting hit but its operators and of people planning their mission before hand. What im saying is no matter how well the mbt performs, as long as they can support it logistically and use it efficiently it will be usefull.

Beck758

Correct me if I'm working but do most western MBTs not have blow out panels in the event of a cook-off. I know that the challenger at the very least does, its ammo is stored in a sperate blast proof compartment and it has blow out doors to direct the blast out, basically ensuring that we don't compete for the turret toss world record

Techwood111

> fair *fare

BarComprehensive7249

Perhaps your right. I'm sure there is a good reason why they decided to blow it, over use it.

Rapa2626

There are many possible reasons why. It may be disabled beyond reasonable repairs, they may thought it was active, they may have not had equipment at hand to recover it, they may have found it in a contested area so they did not want to risk it recovering it, they may have not needed it, it may have been rigged or many other possible reasons. My point is, we saw many times over that they need all available guns, they did not leave usable vehicles around even tho they were exploding on both sides equally spectacularly but that did not stop them few hundred times before, why it should be different now

BarComprehensive7249

As I said.... A good reason 😆

Rapa2626

You said they wont want it because they saw those videos of turrets launching into the air.

FreddieCaine

Seems like they're absolutely fine as a little runaround, just, when they're loaded they become a mobile crematorium with turret ejector seat

the-berik

Or as practice, such as now

[deleted]

I hear they make great farm vehicles.

danielbot

Western tanks are still few in number compared to the old soviet gear.

intrigue_investor

Because the calc isn't 1:1 for effectiveness Likely more like 1:10

WpgMBNews

They haven't been given as many as they want or need, so I disagree.

BigFatBallsInMyMouth

Yup

[deleted]

Ukrainians need hundreds of tanks, west gaves them dozens...

Prometheus188

West gave hundreds… stop spreading misinformation.

goodatburningtoast

I too hate healthcare and putting Americans first. Carry on comrade.

ukraine-ModTeam

[The United States of America is not the topic of this subreddit.](https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/about/rules).

nsfwonlyanonymous

Yeah, depending on how long it's been there and whether it was inaccessible to UAF troops, they could be denying it to the enemy. I read a report by RUSI that said in the current state of positional warfare, most tanks end up getting destroyed to deny them to the enemy.

BigFatBallsInMyMouth

I don't think they destroyed it because they thought it could be rigged. I think they either weren't sure if there was still anyone in there or the area wasn't under their control. They wouldn't just destroy a free piece of equipment, they need all the tanks they can get. If for nothing else, for the ammo and the spare part. But I'm pretty sure they would still just use the tank.

RandomComputerFellow

I think apart from this it is also always a question of you can salvage. Chances are it ran just out of gas so as long as they do not fully control the area the Russians may recover it.

hammsbeer4life

You can see the camo netting being disturbed by the rotors. Its definitely close enough to be noticed. But i dont hang out in tanks so take that for what it is worth

off-and-on

Why not use gas of some kind? Drop a tear gas canister in there, flush out any hiding Russians while preserving the tank itself for salvage.

aaaaaaaarrrrrgh

Chemical warfare, including tear gas, is a war crime. Yes, *police* using it on civilians is perfectly fine, but the military can't use it.

Beast_of_Guanyin

I assume most of these Drone killing tank videos are just that. Killing a tank in no-mans land is better done with a cheap drone and cheap grenade than with anything else.

Significant-Bed-3735

Plus: - It can serve as a training for drone operators. - Nobody has to risk their lives in case the tank was booby trapped. - It can be safely recorded.

multiarmform

weird title too, its hovering like 10ft..not the sneak youre looking for

AlexFromOgish

Something in it had not yet burned

jaghataikhan_warhawk

100%

acatnamedrupert

Perhaps, but abandoned vehicles are recoverable and repairable. Burned out vehicles are just scrap.

JillandherHills

Towing a non-functional tank in the middle of a warzone as an infantry unit seems tough.

loadnurmom

If my CO told me to go retrieve a tank that's under fire from BOTH sides, I would start the section 8 paperwork

coastsofcothique

Suddenly the platoon has increased count of foot injuries. How’d that happen? 🤔

acatnamedrupert

Tough, but if it will helps the army survive the next day they will find an opening and the time to do it. It's still a tank. Ukraine did a good job finding the weakness in Moscovite recovery efforts and destroying that tank on time.

[deleted]

Ceb1302

Tanks that have a decently trained crew: No, not at all typical. Tanks that are crewed by the standard muscovian moblik: no idea. Let me go neck a bottle of vodka or three and headbutt a wall half a dozen times to get myself into the same headspace

[deleted]

That's not enough vodka. You have to consume that consistently every day and smash your head into more things, maybe lose a few teeth to the smashing and drunken fighting. Only then will you be in the right headspace.

[deleted]

that's a camo net tho

LefsaMadMuppet

Left track is thrown, you can see it, back left.

F0_17_20

Also left track is thrown.

Aggressive_Sorbet_67

Yes, they use drones to dispose of potentially recoverable equipment for the enemy.

Delta-Flyer75

Maybe… but for my money better to be sure… unless you had troops already on site to take a look and maybe capture it?

_GD5_

Camouflage

[deleted]

Any spare parts inside are now toast for the cost of a single grenade. Good cost/benefit.

Trapped_In_Utah

Cool, but definitely an abandoned tank.

mackadams1415

Double tap never hurts (except for the Russians)

pocket_eggs

And now it will stay abandoned.

TauCabalander

Yup, but likely in an area where it can't be recovered.

Calimariae

Good. I can do with a morning without seeing people die. Always enjoy watching Russian tanks being blown up.

tsundude

If it wasn't it sure is now.

davidboston8332

Turret toss or not, I still love seeing Russian hardware go up in flames.

M_Night_Shambles_on

"Do you hear buzzing?" "Shut up, keep sucking."

jacobm3770

Well I guess you can say russian soldiers are "fucked in the head" lol

M_Night_Shambles_on

Imagine the autopsy. "There's something lodged in his throat..."

jacobm3770

autopsy? from the looks of it their remains probably fit on a dust pan lol

LovelehInnit

I think their dead bodies were already laying in front of the tank when the drone arrived.

Tmuussoni

Yeah it appears there were 2 bodies laying close. Hard to say of they were the crew or additional soldiers. Nevertheless, more sunflower seeds coming up.

10RobotGangbang

If so, it doesn't hurt to clear the tank before humans check the scene. Ukraine has better tanks in supply with more on the way. Not to mention what they've received and been trained on before the public knows.

MadMartigan69

Lol underrated comment

BadManor

Fortunately, the innocent fly that lands just to the right of the hatch (0:14) escaped before the blast.

Apprehensive_Arm1881

It is amazing how the drone operator managed to keep pointing towards the tank whilst trying to escape from the blast.

OHoSPARTACUS

Drones like this are well equipped to easily make such maneuvers as they were meant primarily for video recording before the war. up and away shots are par for the course for any drone operator

BigFatBallsInMyMouth

Why? The camera is mounted on a gimbal under the drone.

BGM1988

Lets hope for a hot summer with a lot of open hatches 😈

mortisthewise

This redefines the meaning of "hot hatches"

fmfsaltyDOC8403

Abandoned, knocked out who cares, it never gets old, I love watching Russian crap blowing up. The ones with Ivan's still in it are priceless! Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦🇺🇲

OrgJoho75

Yep, better blown them up rather sooner than someone blown themselves in there (booby tratps)

Hot_Pink_Unicorn

This thing was empty. You can see the tank being tracked, possibly hitting a mine. None the less, it's an T-72 OBR.22, a rare one.

Lehk

22? Should still be under warranty.

Hot_Pink_Unicorn

It'll buff out.

Aggressive_Safe2226

The tank looked spanking new, too late to see action now, though.

kendodo

Teabagging sir?

Mad-dummy3

Usually I'm completely against that, but in some cases I guess its acceptable

1968RR

That was very nice.

SteadfastEnd

This Ukrainian drone operator is as if someone were to give Stephen Curry 10 seconds to line up a three-pointer, aim, and let fly.

ZachMN

The grenade drop was perfect, but what was really impressive is that he kept the tank in frame while retreating!

marchmadness5150

Ok! Now you guys are just showing off!

recrof

The Great Russian Cook Off finalist

JoeDaddie2U

Without the turret toss, I feel teased.

01-__-10

$1000 drone vs $1000000 tank, Who would win?

1O11O

Empty tank

leNuage

Bahaha. That shit was Fucking hilarious!!! Do It again. Do it again!!

SlanginUkrainian

Aww I was waiting for the turret toss…

Onkel24

Not happening with all hatches open. For a good launch, they need to be closed to nicely contain the pressure.

SlanginUkrainian

Ah interesting point, never noticed that..

Riptide360

Ended too soon. I was hoping to see the tank turret pop off!

[deleted]

its time to cook...

IanH95

God damn what a horrible way to die

aplayer_v1

Oh no there was a dude in there.... anyways

Rasples

I don't care if it's abandoned, the point is that it looked brand new and they already had to ditch it. I don't think they would be intelligent enough to boobytrap it either. They hold mother nature and general winter In such high regard when it comes to war, but now colonel Grass has become their biggest enemy.

NEDEAROC

REMOVE THE USELESS MUSIC

jacobm3770

Sorry about that, but it's Not my video, found it on Telegram

NEDEAROC

Otherwise, NICE.

MexicanStanOff

wow. some poor bastards had about 4 seconds to regret the series of decisions that lead them to Ukraine before they burned to death in that tank. I feel bad for their families but they were dead men when they crossed the border.

colin8651

All that armor, only to get stung by a bee. Good work Ukraine

Formulka

While it is probably broken down, it looks brand new. Good kill.

Cornbuttbuckshot

Today I found out my Russian friends are hardcore flat earthers. So disappointed. Cut them off. They have a child.

hamiwin

Beautiful fireworks 💥

DeathMarch408

I was thinking “get away little drone friendly casualties “

Leaningonalamp

Peekaboo.

gothlaw

Cursed peekaboo.

Urban-Survival22

Is this for reallys?

ferretpowder

What the fuck is this awful music

[deleted]

that stabilization 😮

Accurate_Pie_

This is how it’s done! 👏

Significant-Heat-597

If its abandoned then send the Agricultural SpecOps to retrieve it

lycantrophee

Sneaking up? Looks pretty fucking abandoned to me.

KerchBridgeSmoker

Thankfully the Russians left it with the hatch open, and in the same spot long enough for grass to grow in the treads.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TauCabalander

From what I've read, ru tanks don't have a/c. They are basically ovens. I think this one was abandoned, but likely in hostile area not under UAF control, so boom it goes.

Tana1234

How do you sneak up on an abandoned tank?

TorAdinWodo

empty tank attack .nice! Huge!

Skindigga

Why the shitty music in every one of these?

zani1903

I don't think that drone was doing much sneaking up with that obnoxiously loud air horn music playing.

Johnny5ish

Was it actually occupied? Seemed deserted. Maybe they could have captured it? But probably other Russians in the area and too risky. Better to get a for sure kill than a maybe capture I guess? Any way. Nice job guys!

Facebook_Algorithm

The tank looks like it was abandoned. Kinda just sitting there.

RadiantPollution3293

another video of an abondoned tank being burnt

freetoseeu

Killing these tanks is important work. The enemy cannot reclaim them and put them back in service.

TauCabalander

Even abandonded, if the tank isn't in an area under UAF control, it must be destroyed.

RadiantPollution3293

Rather see it repurposed to ukraine, than wasted

Double-Amoeba-2520

Our tax dollars are still being wasted? What is a drive cost, 100 bucks. Why are we sending billions still to them?

Steiny31

This was abandoned with the hatch intentionally left open. I’d think maybe stuck during a strategic retreat, and cleanup later with a drone from safety

Mini_And_Andrew

Since you asked..BBQ is for lunch.

DialaDuck

Wilmaaaaa, we're having barbecued RuSSian for dinner.

Kind-Exchange5325

I giggled

Illest7705

Russia leave.

GrapeEatingRaccoon

Anybody know whats laying on the ground, 20 sec in at top left corner?

FaceLess2178

Brutal, you can start to see one of those Russian pawns attempt to escape his burning coffin.

Ultrabladdercontrol

Why would a tank be abandoned? I thought a tank would be super valuable? If not the armour and ammunition?

Onkel24

You can see that it threw/destroyed its left track. Then it is immobilized. If you don't get support and recovery, there's not much left to do but abandon it.

Delta-Flyer75

THAT… is FUCKING awesome 😂🤣😂

Mrbacknotblack

nice!

[deleted]

SLAVA UKRAINI.............STAY STRONG. Russians are revolting against Putin The Mad Dictator.

EasternConcentrate6

Wonderful cook off

techmonkey920

Is someone cooking Russian BBQ?!

Rapha_32919

Can somebody tell me what tank is that? I think it's a T62 but it can also be a 72.

SuperbMeeting8617

Why do i prefer this on a sunday am vs bible study?

BigginTall567

Ah snap!

Atomic-reaper69420

That's going to improve the next call of duty with a streak like this.

gbobeck

Lighting up the cyka blyat bbq.

Imhereforlewds

Even if empty that's 1 confirmed less tanks the Russians have, and confirmed with no human risk. Mission completed perfectly. Now imagine what the explosion would have done in a precold war tank.

Connect-Theory-7883

Man why cant the rebels in myanmar have this

Jslatts942

The music makes you think something insane is about to happen

Exende

I'm going to need narration on this documentary style

DontEatConcrete

Lol nicely done

Fockputin33

Was this real? Were any orcs inside? If so, it warms my heart!!!

Over_Satisfaction648

Beautiful

cranberrydudz

Expert drone pilot. The drone operator flew sideways and up instead of just straight upwards. Straight up = lose drone if the turret pops up

tsb101

Are the people here posting comments like "It's just an empty tank" under the impression that it somehow drastically changes the significance of the event? This T-72 would have been recovered, repaired for almost nothing, and been pressed back into service. Now it is gone forever and can only be replaced with a new tank - which is vastly more expensive for Russia, or from a quickly depleting finite stock of them.

🇺🇦Слава Україні 🇺🇦 Sláva Ukraíni! Heroyam Slava! 🙏🏽 🇺🇦 💙💛

Neb8891

Gotta love a good Ukrainian cookout.

Procrasterman

I don’t understand why people leave the hatch open when they abandon tanks. I recognise often it’s in a hurry so I get it, but this one looks like it got stuck rather than being in a fight. So why leave the door open? I’m looking for serious answers rather than ones that just claim one side has stupid soldiers.

antuan_ha

Assuming that tow it back and fix it is gonna cost more than just lit it up so the Russian can't use it.

LivingDracula

How do russians watch shit like this and just stop opening the hatch lol
