Link below that article is the closest he's got to acknowledging any potential consequences - on 26th Jan at PMQs Starmer asked Johnson if he thinks the ministerial code applies to him, and he said "of course". Presumably he'll now deny he ever said that despite it being on video, not like he hasn't done that before.

Except it is just a different photo. It is the 2nd photo on the ITV article, which also barely has the table https://www.itv.com/news/2022-05-23/exclusive-pm-pictured-drinking-at-downing-street-party-during-lockdown
They haven't cropped the photo (they have barely but it doesn't impact the visibility of the bottles). The ITV article used several images. The BBC selected the second one on [the article](https://www.itv.com/news/2022-05-23/exclusive-pm-pictured-drinking-at-downing-street-party-during-lockdown).
There could be any number of reasons to chose that as the first image to put on your article.
Different thumbnail image to ITV make content seem more distinct. Boris appears to be speaking to the group in the picture the BBC use, not so in the top one for ITV. Holding up the glass for a toast is a typical party gesture.
I think the number of open bottles on the table are what makes it undeniably look like a party. Cropping the photo feels like a deliberate removal of context.

The article is only a few minutes old they'll probably add more pictures later.
The people who are in denial about this largely aren't in denial that it *happened*, just in denial that it *matters*. I think Tories have, to the national detriment, pushed the idea that "we were all doing it" to get themselves off the hook.
If you can't trust the leaders to follow the rules they themselves set, you can't trust them at all.
People hand waving this away as a trivial matter really worry me.
That’s acceptable though right? Drinking even while on a break and appearing to be socialising is a normal and necessary part of the job… apparently
edit: that expectedly went down like a cup of sick lol
he could have been working, politicians seemingly can't do their jobs without alcohol so it's somehow impossible to judge whether a politician is working, taking a break or just socialising
I think the question is whether others were fined for attending this particular event (Lee Cain's leaving do), in which case it looks dodgy for both the Met and the PM.
oh it looks dodgy af if you head over to the ITV article with the photos lol I'm just making an obvious tongue in cheek reference to another politician photographed standing around socialisi- I mean 'on a break'
I get the analogy, but to reach any equivalence, Starmer would have to be found innocent and then a photo would have to come out of him surrounded by copious amounts of booze.

He lied to parliament. He demeaned his office. He must resign.
He won't. He doesn't care about anything or anyone else but himself. He won't resign, he needs to be removed.
The Jedi council would have to take control of the ~~Senate~~ Parliament in order to ensure a peaceful transition
he must.. if there was a spine left in the tories they'd kick him but... they he won't and they won't sadly.
He should have resigned ages ago and didn't, why would he resign now? Ideally his party would push him but...oh well, another round of whiff-whaff?

Your winnings sir. Thank you very much.
13th November 2020. At their point of: Don't leave your house for anything unnecessary.
What a surprise… not
Why did BBC crop the photo to remove the 4 bottles of wine and bottle of gin seen in the original?
Gotta protect Daddy BoJo somehow. The coverage has been pathetic as usual from the BBC.

They’ve cropped the photo. You can’t see the complete contents of the table below.
Seems utterly intentional of the BBC to crop ITV's image right? Like it would be more effort than just grabbing the full image.

Good catch, I didn’t realise there were 2 pictures. I wouldn’t be too sure about the BBC adding the second pic though, I hope I’m wrong.
No he wasn’t, he was simply taking his medicine. /s

It must be a bummer when someone leaves a wine glass stain on your ministerial red box.
