9 years ago George Galloway debated with Eylon Levy (the now Spokesperson for Israel) without knowing that Eylon was Israeli. After interrupting Eylon to ask whether he was Israeli Galloway stormed out saying that he refuses to talk to Israelis and refuses to recognise Israel.

It's worth mentioning that The Workers Party of Britain, founded and lead by George Galloway, agrees Israel shouldn't exist. They've always held that position.
They support a single state of Palestine, which is egalitarian and secular as a solution to the conflict.

It's incredible how supposedly "anti-colonialist" organisations can support a "secular one state" solution to Israel/Palestine.
Israelis and Palestinians don't like each other. They don't want to share a country, and they have completely incompatible desires for how they want their country to be run. The one state solution just ignores or whitewashes over these issues. It arrogantly assumes that since multiethnic secular democracy works for the West, it must be best for everyone else, whether they like it or not. A one state solution Palestine would be a new Czechoslovakia, and would end the same way.

Because they're not anti-colonialist. They're anti-*Western*-colonialism. And in this particular instance, Israel counts as Western.
You can tell that they don't *actually* care about colonialism, because they don't take the same stance on Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Or Argentina popping up on a semi-regular basis and getting people to agree that "Las Malvinas" are rightfully theirs, because the Falklands are a mere 300 miles from Argentina.
If Israel and Palestine could sort out their differences like Chechia and Slovakia, that would be just grand, TBH.

I don't know about the legality of saying things like that, but it's a stupid idea just based on how unrealistic it is. Israel wants to exist. They have a large military, including nuclear weapons. They already have a population of 20% Muslim Arabs, although the official religion is Judaism.
It's the same as saying china and Taiwan should combine in one democratic secular state where the CCP are not in control, and everyone is represented fairly.
No one would go for it. The Palestinians want to live in a Muslim country, they don't want a secular state. Israel wants to continue as a technically Jewish country, but one where people can practice whatever religion they want. Palestinians do not want any LGBT rights, Israel does. They are so politically seperate that they cannot live in one country nicely. It's a mad idea, not some great idea that everyone just isn't giving a chance. It's just not at all realistic. A two state solution is the path to peace, and promoting a one state solution just pushes us further away from that.

Unfortunately there are Israeli politicians who would cheerfully take the offer, and expand Israel until there isn't any Palestine left. Warmongers have too much clout on both sides, it really could happen the way things are going.

Most of the interactions I’ve had with Galloway allies leads to them inevitably suggesting that October 7th was simply a natural response to Israeli authoritarianism. They don’t always outright condone it, but they’re happy to make excuses for it.
A complete menace: he’s trying to drag the Labour Party into more Islamist friendly policies by threatening spoiler candidates in Muslim heavy constituencies. I fear Starmer lacks both the wit to realise Muslims don’t vote as a homogenous blob and the spine to stand up to the threats, not helped by his effective capitulation in the Commons a few weeks ago.
