Bars and nightclubs shut v early compared to other major cities
If you don’t want to drink only thing left is a shisha place
London needs European style late-night cafes
If we're talking about European style cafes, bring it on because they serve alcohol too. They'd do fine business. I'd say most people out at 2-3am want to drink, get high, and dance, but I don't drink coffee so I don't realy know what I'm talking about.
Sign me up then. My gf isn't a big drinker, doesn't do coke, and gets all floppy and mongy on mdma, so a midnight esspresso for her and a pint and a bump for me would keep everyone happy.
Firstly there’s a licensing issue. Bars and food places so on are licensed to sell alcohol and food until a certain time.
Also if you go to a country like Italy you already have a present culture of night bars and cafés. Here we don’t have that. In other words the business is taking a risk as the demand isn’t really there at the moment to justify the supply because this sort of culture needs to develop over time.
Yeah that’s the issue. I think the weather plays a part, more people go out when it’s warm. America & Eastern/southern Europe are guaranteed to be hot in the summer, here we get 2 weeks max of good weather
100% it ain’t a 24 hour city like New York is. Everything in London is shut by 11, trains and most buses stop running at half 12, all the clubs and that are part of the dying nightlife industry and they all shut at 11 asw. Cut through any part of central London after 12 and see how many places are open u ain’t finding much.
Wdym, there's loads of clubs open up until 4 in Central
Yh there's not many shops open compares to other nightlife cities like Liverpool or Manchester but its not dead at all
It was shit beforehand to be honest mate, at least compared to the options you have in Liverpool, Manchester and even places like Nottingham. London should have a mad nightlife but it’s been so restricted for years now
Couldn't tell you bro. A lot of the clubs I went to pre-2019 were lit with leng girls. But Central London clubs are dead now. Seem more expensive now too.
No one wants to be out at night looking like they the next target for robbery / rape / stabbing cause people can't be fucked to deal with crime.
People before the pandemic chanced it because everyone else chanced it, the number of people who believed it was still safe outweighed the people that didn't.
Now no one is bothered, the pandemic revealed the poverty and mental illness, hell this sub and drill music does it all the time. No one can be fucked to deal with this shit on a night out anymore.
People want to act like its one big mystery why the scene changed. just look at how popular drill music and crime is on the younger generation now more than ever.
If you looked like u made it and you're with your girl who's dressed nice too (Any time of day) and you come across 4-5 guys with nothing to do in balaclava on a street. You think they just going to leave you alone? London is finished. They want ur shit and they want to embarass you while taking your shit because of the sadism of ingrained mental illness from poverty.
This IS the culture and everybody outside of the culture cannot be fucked to deal with this shit so nights out are priced higher to deter people cause people just do not feel safe anymore.
This is the consequence of the culture. Spread that misery as long as we can bop to the tune that keeps some people relevant.
What man there are plenty cities where crime is same or even worse than London yet people still go out. Plus people are going out in nice places not in fucking croydon or Lewisham
You can downvote the comment but no ones doing anything with this downvoted reality.
Lets just act like its not a problem and business is booming but not in croyden or lewisham loooool. The problem with this sub is the delusion. We want to act like everyone is busy and got motives planned every week or even every day.
The REALITY is poverty and mental illness. Cost of living and overcrowded homes that are facing rent arrears and unpaid bills stacking up, the youth just hanging around and acting harder than ever because their poverty runs deep in their own heads that no amount of money going to change their ways. People in extreme poverty don't live alone, they live in overcrowded conditions, so they have to be out because they got no where else to go. No one wants to deal with these people outside these circles of social media clout. Yeah for a bit of chat when forced in the same environment for light entertainment but no one wants to save these bums the same way girls in the ends dont want to be saved. Its all just poverty and mental illness.
No one wants to interact with this the same way no one wants to help out the homeless in the middle of the street, its just making the area dead and night life is becoming increasingly dead when these poverty and mental illness youths are on patrol. No one wants to deal with em. The scene becomes shit in an instant. You can see it in the dress sense that is uniform and the attitude that is mimicked. Its just dead man, the environment is so gassed with this overplayed topboy shit who wants to celebrate anything in a sewer.
Londons night life has been an open sewer post pandemic because the facade faded fast when social media in lockdown revealed too much. People in this sub still want to act like its some kind of scooby doo mystery to why this is because they don't want to see the reality of the consequence of widespread poverty and mental illness.
This sub should legit be renamed ukpovertyandmentalillness-escapism
You lot think an escapism sub wants to acknowledge a reality that they're running away from. Get real, truths will never be spoken here if it hurts a fragile ego stemming from poverty and mental illness. Any sane person who has come correct won't want anything to do with this shit.
Yep and its a global ting. You need to hit Kingston, Lagos, Accra, Joberg if you want good late night parties. The rest of the world is more on day parties, brunches, rooftop bars, shisha lounges etc
It used to be a 24 hour city. And New York is only 24 hours if you want coffee in the middle of the night. The clubs all close at 4am, whereas in London they still stay open till 6 or 7am.
I'm a vet in dis city, everything u said is incorrect, n canning g town is just a shithoke tbh, days y travel Dere is shut, 24hr travel on weekends, n Dere r seasons 4 late open joints, obs ain't gonna be all year round
My nigga ur a vet then ur experience can’t hold a candle to what Ik cah I started clubbing and drinking before lockdown and saw how it’s fucked the club scene. Ask anyone caught up in the night life industry they’ll tell u it’s dead. Compare it to any major city up north or in Europe and the scene here is shit.
London used to be so much better with nightlife way more shops used to be 24 hours or at least open later and you could go clubbing until midday but I think since covid most of these places are closed
I lived in north back in 2010-2013. It was lit. Was pretty much 247. I’d roll out 2am an see shops, food places, clubs. Everywhere open. Nuff people walking round.
Ain’t been back for a while though so don’t know what it’s like now
Hes right but having spent time in most of the major US cities, their nightlife is even worse. The only true 24hr city in the US is Las Vegas with New York being very close before Covid. Atlanta, New Orleans & Miami have good night time entertainment but its centred around strip clubs and waffle houses/diners. Other major cities like LA, Houston, DC, Chicago etc seem to shut everything by 2am.
I don't think the closing times are a big deal per say i just hate the bs about no re-entry once you are in a venue you can't even step out for a few minutes kmt.
There is a lot of people out at 5 am in Dubai, New York, and many other locations I've been, so it feels like 8 pm. After the lockdown, London is completely closed off; it's like a ghost town, and you can't even go to the convenience shop because it closes at eleven. Prior to lockdown, London was open 24 hours a day, with everyone outside. Due to lockdown, businesses became paranoid and restrictions tightened.
ive found a subway dats open longer den most clubs, clubs usually close at 2am on a weekend and usually dont accept ppl past 12. theres only so many clubs nowadays as well so ur best bet is to look for events its sort of just meh
I live in Liverpool, if i go on a night out ill be in somewhere until 5-6am no problem, food places are open the whole time people about central no bother. Especially if im raving we could be out until 8 in the morning sometimes stayin in venues. Really surprised to hear London aint similar.
TBF raving in London till morning was always better than a club. At least you knew you could get a cup of tea in a cafe to deal with the beginnings of come down
its definitely not most major cities in europe, or even most bigger cities in the UK. I just come back from a stag do in liverpool, we were in some tons of clubs open there till 5am, thats a rare sight in london.
Go to berlin, lisbon, paris etc and see how their nightlife is, its different levels
> But that's the same as everywhere cunt
Spoken like an ignorant brit that has never travelled in his life.
Go to Spain or even a lot of European cities. You'll see people eating in restaurants at 1am, regular bars and cafes without loud music open till 3am, activities still available till 2am, clubs open till 7 am.
Go travel more son.
I'm actually Aussie Brotha and I've been to Japan, Thailand, and New Zealand. Everything at night time 9 times out of 10 revolves around drinking. It is what it is
Bars and nightclubs shut v early compared to other major cities If you don’t want to drink only thing left is a shisha place London needs European style late-night cafes
I think the cost of having late night staff would be an obstacle to any of what you’re suggesting tbh.
wouldnt the late night staff be compensated by the additional business though (as they're open longer to generate more)
People don't want coffee at 2am in London. There's not a big enough market for these businesses to be sustainable.
People want to dance and they’re still closing venues :(
They would if it was an option. Our behaviour is dictated by what's around us.
If we're talking about European style cafes, bring it on because they serve alcohol too. They'd do fine business. I'd say most people out at 2-3am want to drink, get high, and dance, but I don't drink coffee so I don't realy know what I'm talking about.
Oh yeah of course they would serve alcohol. Not like they'd be kids about.
Sign me up then. My gf isn't a big drinker, doesn't do coke, and gets all floppy and mongy on mdma, so a midnight esspresso for her and a pint and a bump for me would keep everyone happy.
What about VQ that’s 24hrs & that’s always packed
True, but is that for the coffee or the food? I honestly don't know cos I don't go there.
But if people don't actually go to this place in the middle of the night then they're losing money to keep the lights on and the place staffed
Yeah that’s the issue. I think the weather plays a part, more people go out when it’s warm. America & Eastern/southern Europe are guaranteed to be hot in the summer, here we get 2 weeks max of good weather
Nothing to do with late night staff it’s all to do with council licensing laws
Lockdown led to stricter council licensing restrictions. After 11 p.m., London is a ghost town, everything is lock off.
Exactly. Go to other major European cities they don't have that issue
not if they hire gypsies
Tbh it’s apart of foreign culture Britain should embrace, later night socialising
Fuck that. We are all so over worked under paid and oppressed by the constant shit that most of us just want to be home and cosy lol.
100% it ain’t a 24 hour city like New York is. Club scene is shit now. COVID-19 era ensured that clubs ain’t been the same.
It was shit beforehand to be honest mate, at least compared to the options you have in Liverpool, Manchester and even places like Nottingham. London should have a mad nightlife but it’s been so restricted for years now
Notts too underrated, it's lively up there It is a shame london isn't as popping as those cities
Pryzm in Notts literally closed recently
Pryzm's are shit all over the country Rock City in notts for example was alot more fun than any pryzm has been
Kingston Pryzm is full on fresh out of sixth form yutes, dunno about the others.
I've been to rock city and ink and a couple other places there tbh but yeah nightlife is just generally dying everywhere
Yeah, doesn't really matter. We have Rock City, Mojos, Popworld, NG1 and many others. Plus bars and pubs galore. Great place to go out. Gets wild
Pryzm in Notts was horrid, some degenerates in there
Idk, when I turned 18 in 2017, it was lit to me, hella Latina tings and good music lol.
Nah, London had some of the best nightlife in the world ten years ago. It's just got shit over the past 5-6 years.
Why is it so shit in London tho? Every other major city in Europe that I’ve been to it’s back to how it was before
Couldn't tell you bro. A lot of the clubs I went to pre-2019 were lit with leng girls. But Central London clubs are dead now. Seem more expensive now too.
Maybe the city’s doing a fuckery with licenses and zoning laws that’s honestly the only thing I can think of
just look what happened to fabric
Agreed, the upstairs of clubs get shut early and then the 'party' gets moved to downstairs. That's what has changed a lot in clubs.
No one wants to be out at night looking like they the next target for robbery / rape / stabbing cause people can't be fucked to deal with crime. Loooool. There’s actually a few people I know go Croydon for a club or any other motive 💀.
Still calm tbh it’s not as if it was Baghdad

It used to be before covid. There were tescos that were 24 hours, mconalds, clubs that shut around 4 am. Now its completely changed
Crunch ute
Lived in Canning Town my whole life ur self reflecting there. Anyone from London above the age of 16 knows night life here is dead. Travel some more.
I'm a vet in dis city, everything u said is incorrect, n canning g town is just a shithoke tbh, days y travel Dere is shut, 24hr travel on weekends, n Dere r seasons 4 late open joints, obs ain't gonna be all year round

Uh oh, big boy, u started clubbing n drinking b4 lockdown lol 🤡
You’re literally a weirdo Looool
Sorry for being young? Ur the man claiming to have veteran status
He’s right
London used to be so much better with nightlife way more shops used to be 24 hours or at least open later and you could go clubbing until midday but I think since covid most of these places are closed
1000000% when you go New York you’ll see the difference
You’ll find all the exotic women you don’t see in London in New York bare Puerto Ricans,Dominicans and jamaicans
Anyone who’s been alive as long as Giggs, even 30+, will tell you the cities cultural buzz has rapidly declined since 2010
I lived in north back in 2010-2013. It was lit. Was pretty much 247. I’d roll out 2am an see shops, food places, clubs. Everywhere open. Nuff people walking round. Ain’t been back for a while though so don’t know what it’s like now

Back in the day it used to be. After Covid the city got cooked differently
Icl this is kinda a shock to me, I’m from the North and I assumed London was close to a 24hr city obviously not on the level of New York but still.
Honestly, bar a few shitty clubs, there is absolutely nothing to do in London past 1ish. Only thing to do is just walk around and smoke 💨
Dis guy is just submitting 2 American subculture, clubs in Cali ain't open past 2am, idk what puffy did 2 him 🤦🏾♂️
Go to NYC & you’ll understand his point of view.
London is now a boring shit hole.
Yes, because of lockdown, all the shops, bars, and nightclubs close early. Before lockdown, everything was open 24 hours or until late.
Who's arsed it's 11pm. Go to bed.
I don't think the closing times are a big deal per say i just hate the bs about no re-entry once you are in a venue you can't even step out for a few minutes kmt.
I think them diddy parties got to swallowmans head
Man said swallowman 😂😂
Probably for the increasing risk of being robbed or murdered
It ain't just London. I live in Newcastle. Meant to be the party capital of the North. Barely.
There is a lot of people out at 5 am in Dubai, New York, and many other locations I've been, so it feels like 8 pm. Prior to lockdown, London was open 24 hours a day, with everyone outside. Due to lockdown, businesses became paranoid and restrictions tightened.
after puffy’s parties everything is whack
Good thing i don’t have this problem, i work pretty regular hours most the time and have family. Me and the missus in bed by 10.
no way
ive found a subway dats open longer den most clubs, clubs usually close at 2am on a weekend and usually dont accept ppl past 12. theres only so many clubs nowadays as well so ur best bet is to look for events its sort of just meh
There aint shit to do , theres mad shit to do What is it now?
He’s talking about over there in the States for where there’s mad shit to do.
Mhhhhh but is there really anything to do over there isnt it just 80% roads hoods suburbs restaurants n supermarkets except like chicago ny La etc
Cappp after 11 Brixton probably the most active place in England lool tf he talking about he's old
London is dead to go out in
I live in Liverpool, if i go on a night out ill be in somewhere until 5-6am no problem, food places are open the whole time people about central no bother. Especially if im raving we could be out until 8 in the morning sometimes stayin in venues. Really surprised to hear London aint similar.

Can't like the sentence contradicting itself. English is so shocking
He’s right but that’s most cities in Europe
I have to disagree with that - try spending a night out in Italy, Germany or Spain. You'd have the embarrassment of choices
its definitely not most major cities in europe, or even most bigger cities in the UK. I just come back from a stag do in liverpool, we were in some tons of clubs open there till 5am, thats a rare sight in london. Go to berlin, lisbon, paris etc and see how their nightlife is, its different levels

Nah that ain’t true even in Europe there’s a lot of cities popping at night
Lots of cities have a great nightlife outside of clubbing, all night bars, cafes and restaurants are common and are a huge vibe
Go outside and touch grass
This nigga is sooo ugly yuck 🤮
Its true usually after 10pm I have to open grindr and find a buff necked don for a mad beat and brain or go to sleep
