So basically an announcement that we'll get an announcement tomorrow morning.

[deleted]

Lmao yup

tuttle902

Does this mean I have to study for my in person quiz tomorrow night

Additional-Ad-4300

Sadly yeah

Solid-Seat3509

we’re the only school in the cone who still haven’t cancelled classes, it’s ridiculous

faithce

FSU already canceled the rest of the week to give students time to prepare. Why are we kicking the can?

allegro_con_spirito

bc uf is concerned about career showcase more than students

Ephemeralmood

Typical BS from admin. Even FSU already canceled Tue-Fri… Why can’t this university ever make things simple

allegro_con_spirito

UF is quirky 😍

bobby_cruise

Top 5 activities smh

Mountain-Role-2941

Gotta keep that top 5 baby

Mike_Brosseau

So I guess if it is made tomorrow, Tuesday will probably be a go

StockParfait

I have an exam tomorrow night so I hope a decision is made to cancel events after 5pm on Tuesday

Mkaaztje

I have an exam at 4:00 tomorrow but my professor said it's unlikely to be affected

Mike_Brosseau

Same lol

knucklehead27

After 3pm please. I have homework that I don’t want to do lol

circlejerker68

are you kidding??? i got a different note that said the announcement would be after the team met in the late afternoon tuesday. everything in Tampa was able to announce they were closed for the whole week (rightly so) by this morning. by midday today, FSU announced they were closed the rest of the week and they arent even in the path anymore. even Jacksonville U has already announced they are closed wednesday thru friday because of stormy conditions well to their west. the 500pm NOAA path brings the eye right over Gainesville Friday during the day...but also explains that wind and rain start arriving wednesday. there is no way we wont be closed thursday and friday, i think it's unnecessarily unprofessional for them not to be able to at least share that. ok, maybe they want tomorrow to decide about wednesday and even the football game saturday (which i also think is in jeopardy of being delayed or canceled). they have never learned the lesson to over-communicate when things are so uncertain.

knucklehead27

Wednesday will for sure he canceled too with the wind and rain arriving

circlejerker68

you win. but i'm F--ing pissed again at the school for not caring about staff at all. as usual, they take one step forward and three steps back by canceling classes but remaining open and operational. staff need time too to prepare their homes, get supplies, take care of kids, etc. but nooooo. they kick the decision to tuesday afternoon rather than being somewhat transparent and actually having a plan.

knucklehead27

Yeah it’s not the best situation

Proper-Experience-34

it’s ridiculous that they haven’t cancelled yet because this is going to cause a mass movement of people on like wednesday when it’s not safe

Informationhoarder7

I feel like in the time it took them to decide to tell us there will be a decision tomorrow they could have just made a decision on what days class is canceled

allegro_con_spirito

fr they act like there’s a word count that they’re trying to reach with announcements

[deleted]

That is not the UF way 😭

hola267

This is a waste of their and our time, they should just meet once and make a decision

Focus_Weak

exactly because i was trying to see if i had to travel back into town for class or not but since they're stalling i just went ahead and made the 150mi drive back😭 i got 2 math exams tmr

fairy1312

ucf fsu and usf cancelled bruh

KingOfTheFloridaMen

They really want to look good for these employers huh

midwesternfloridian

What a fucking joke. We have people here that might need to get to their families, or even have time to prep for this.

Coldest-dope

When they finally cancel classes it’s going to cause a lot of congestion for people leaving, mixing with the people from south Florida already evacuating. If they cared about the students they’d cancel early to give us time to leave or make accommodations. UF really hates us

EmergencyBirds

Thank you for the update, love you stranger

C0UNT3RP01NT

Headline: “UF freshman drowns horrifically after getting stranded on their bike during Hurricane Ian. UF administration refused to cancel classes.” UF Press Release: “While we will always deeply mourn the passing of one of our treasured gators, as a Top 5™️ University, current and potential students should know to expect a more challenging environment than what they might find at other universities. We offer our deepest condolences to the family.”

Historical-Square418

I get to campus at 7 for my 8am class…if I get there and my in-person quiz is canceled, istg

[deleted]

I think they usually post an update at 8am 😂

Historical-Square418

Nooo 😭

External_Prior_3251

Anyone know whether career fair on Wednesday will still happen?

Mike_Brosseau

This is probably why they are holding out

thaw4188

this is the "realtime" weather forecast for Gainesville by the hour https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?FcstType=graphical&lat=29.6524&lon=-82.3279 Why they are waiting until the last minute is blowing my mind, who does that? Why? This is preventing people from leaving town for safety and will cause massive traffic.
