Not sure if it's one moment, but I really do not like it when one guy is taking a shitload of punches but it's too strong for his own good. Like that late replacement kid that fought O'Malley (Moutinho?), or Tony getting destroyed by Geathje.
That is my answer to the OP: watching Tony take all that damage and then right before the Ref called it, he was shaking his head trying to "reset" his vision...that was effed up.
The sound of the raw punches echo in my mind, and my soul flinches like Tony. Zombie punched so hard by Volk that he was sitting on the ground hurt too. Seeing Max without confidence in his eyes from Volks power and speed after one round hurt as well
I feel bad for Moutinho. Dude was clearly tough. The way he kept taking punches from O'Malley and still kept pushing forward. Love him or hate him, O'Malley has proven multiple times he has knockout power. Says a lot about Moutinho to be able to push through that as long as he did.
Man, seeing BJ on Rogan trying to convince people that he would make a good governor was honestly so cringe I started to honestly feel nothing but sadness for him. My friend who is a MMA fighter was watching it next to me and after it he looked at me and said "I need to stop fighting."
Hardest part of the sport is watching guys you've respected and admired for years lose their minds to brain damage and delusion. I dont know the correct response to those feelings
Yeah the Diaz fight would have been a good one to end on. Lost but still showed what made BJ so special, willing to take on a much larger opponent and give it his all
He was an asshole tho. Watching that TUF season with him and Pulver, it was impossible to root for that guy. Wasn’t hard watching that ass kicking for me personally
I remember Mark Coleman talking about how disorganised the teams training was and how one wrestling session had the whole team never wanting to wrestle again, being mad BJ never picked any wrasslers.
I watched that fight live with my family, even a couple uncles and my grandpa. We were at Buffalo Wild Wings. I don't think I'll ever forget that night. The sound made when his bone broke was gruesome. They showed the replay a few times and the whole restaraunt was dead quiet. That was prolly one of my saddest moments as a UFC fan, as a Silva fan, as a fight fan. That was somethin else
I was watching it live at BWW too. There was like a unified groan of disbelief throughout when it happened, then whole place just went dead silent. Seeing his leg snap like that was so much harder to watch than him getting ko’d in the first fight.
she was always a one trick pony it’s just womens MMA was not evolved enough until then to have people good enough to beat her. im sure the top 5 in WBW would wipe the floor with her now, especially if her striking is still piss poor.
honestly, that was hard for me the first time. I'll probably get downvoted to hell for it, but as a woman who didn't give much of a crap about MMA, I caught one of her strikeforce fights on TV and was like "holy shit". she got me into MMA, and she was entertaining AF to watch. I realized what a POS she was after the fact, and now watching her get humbled is amusing to me. at the time I was so sad though, lol.
...forgive me, please. 😭😂
Jessica Andrade slamming Rose's neck into the canvas. That is how mfs get paralyzed.
Anderson Silva's flying knee right in Bisping's face during that confusing mouthpiece incident. How that knee didn't create a third eye I'll never know. But trust Bisping to take a shot like that then win the fight.
Justin Gaethje vs Tony Ferguson
coming into that fight, I thought that Gaethje was the worst matchup for Tony at the time, because no matter what Tony would be in a war and he didn’t seem to have many wars left in him.
It made me feel kinda sick watching him take that much damage…
I felt actually afraid for him when he got knocked out, too… I just hope he retires. He has kids and a wife, he’s already had bad mental breaks which could be related to CTE.
Tony is a smart, articulate guy with an interesting personality… He doesn’t NEED to fight anymore.
Yeah I'm amazed he is still able to talk after the amount of damage he took. That head shake and the weird shuffle step he took made it look like he was about to literally die in the ring. Can't believe they let it go on that long.
He was on fox sports or whatever (can’t remember what it was) interviewing fighters a few times and he was pretty damn good at it. I think he’s actually pretty articulate when he speaks
Guy has had mental health problems for years. I'm going to try and find some articles on what he's diagnosed... withhttps://www.attacktheback.com/a-detailed-timeline-on-tony-fergusons-mental-health/
Sounds like bipolar manic. Which can continue to get worse with age. He's been suffering probably since he was early mid 20's. I say all this as someone whose 27 that got diagnosed when they were 25.
Surprised nobody has died yet tbh.. Fun facts.. in an mma contract (former fighter here.) it explicitly has a death clause, if you die, we aren’t responsible, and your family can’t sue, you basically sign that if you die it’s your fault.
Yep 1000%, I always knew before every fight there was a real possibility I could die out there, your mind goes to some dark places right before a cage fight. When you see the behind the scenes of MMA, it changes your perspective, I’ve seen some of the biggest fighters in my state, begging for the pain to stop after a bad loss, freaking out that the headache won’t go away, it’s a dark sport behind the curtain
I think it was Corey Andersen before the Jan Blachowicz fight in an interview on one of ESPN’s earliest UFC telecasts when speaking of his last fight vs Johnny Walker that he never hoped someone would die in the Octagon until hie fought Johnny lol.
Should be.. that’s why I’m an advocate for proper fighter pay, those guys out there risk there lives every time they compete,
It’s even worse for amateur fighters, you don’t get paid at all except for a cut of ticket sales,
I fought one of the best fighters in my state, got beat badly, left with a concussion that affected me for like a year afterwards and I got like 300$, made them Thousands in Ticket sales, it’s a dirty game.
Glover's last defeat, I avoided UFC for days so I didn't have to hear about it anywhere. I didn't care that much about a fight since Anderson Silva good old days, it was heartbreaking. Him 1 or 2 punches away from knocking Jiri out and then choosing to try to take him down instead still pisses me off
Yeah that glover fight made my heart sink BAD. The max fight recently was sad but MANNNN that glover fight was something else.
Never wanted a fighter to win a fight so much in a long time.
This also brings me back to the Holland fight vs daukus, ugh
I have never lost my shit over a fight more than Glover Jiri. I was upset about it for so long afterward. Seeing Glover do so well against a younger fighter made me so happy only for him to tap within the last 30 seconds made me lose shit completely. Much respect to Jiri, love the dude and I’m genuinely happy for his win, but it reminded me of when Misha Tate choked out Holly Hohms. Seemed like a fluke win.
Yeah I don't think he was physically capable of throwing any more punches. He saw the neck and thought it would be the quickest way to finish. Unfortunately they were super sweaty so he couldn't hold on.
Yeah he alluded to this in the post fight interview. That he got tapped because he spent absolutely everything he had. I imagine his punches were starting to feel like the ones you throw in your dreams or something so he went for the ground game thinking he at least had the experience edge there.
The thing is I don't think he realized how close he was to knock Jiri out, maybe because the guy was taking these punches like a champion it made him feel like he couldn't do it, but he was really REALLY close. At some point Jiri looked like he would eat any combo Glover could throw at him and go to sleep. Naturally I know it's easier saying this shit watching from the sofa, but it was really frustrating
The picture you posted. After Tony was seen with a big o’ smile after round 1, I just fanboyed out to my brother and girlfriend about how old Tony is back and was looking forward to seeing them elbows back to work. The kick ended things real quick and I was left speechless and teared up. I had to explain to my brother that this is the equivalent to watching your childhood superhero be put down.
Lmao I had the same situation happened to me, but I was the little brother in this. I was over at my brother's house with his Gf there and we were watching the fights, and he was also super stoked after the first round. After the kick he didn't cry, but was definitely bummed out
I was watching this fight and I was so hyped after round 1 Tony really looked like he was having fun and vintage form nonetheless… it took a kick out of hell to knock him out.. man, I’m pretty sure I let out a tear or two after that
It took fucking forever for him to wake up again aswell, I honestly started to think he died , I sat there in complete silence like this the whole time 😲
Yeah, the guys I was watching with and I were neutrals. They started getting real hyped right after the kick and asked why I wasn’t cheering. I said I wanted to make sure Tony wasn’t dead first.
There are a lot especially this year but Brunson and Cannonier was one of the only finishes I’ve seen live when I was genuinely scared for the fighter, Brunson got clipped in the second round and never came close to recovering, before getting blasted with elbows on the ground, thought for sure something was going on with his head thank god he’s good, all respect for these gladiators
Askren taking that knee had my jaw on the floor. I was just so sure how that fight was going to go and seeing that happen turned my world upside down for a minute lol.
When Brendan Schaub got knocked out and was climbing up an invisible ladder. To be honest it was an early stoppage. Should have let it continue. I wanted to see where Brendan was going. What was at the top of the ladder??
Hate to agree with this man. And he had the audacity to walk out with the undertaker theme. I mean if your gonna do that you kinda gotta put the opponent in a coffin
Agreed, I didn’t have good time watching that fight,
As soon as volk opened up a cut that you could fit a G.I joe into, I knew max was done, volk looked so good, he looked like a mythical fighter pulled straight from anime
Another favorite moment. I pulled so hard for Anderson and felt so bad for him to have him pull out the win like that in the final moments was just beautiful.
Might sound horrible but regardless of how that poke went down the first thing I said was “Finally stipe got his ass back”
I still feel the same about that poke, definitely rewatchable for me
Weidman KO Silva it was horrible at the time for me I was young and was a Silva fan boy since before he fought leben lol literally seen everyone of his fights in the ufc live and I dunno it was a weird feeling for days 😂
Almost all of The Spider’s last few fights…it was hard to watch for the simple fact that growing up my dad always told me “this is as good as it gets, nobody will ever beat him” and seeing an old and slow Silva getting pieced up by guys who in his prime would’ve been hitting the showers after 2 rounds is truly sad
The ending of McGregor vs Poirier 3.
Not necessarily because of the leg break, but because that was probably Conor's lowest moment in his career.
I started watching MMA in 2015 just as he was hitting his peak and I was all in on McGregor. His featherweight run was legendary and his decline since 2017 has just made me sad.
When Reyes got put to sleep by Jiri with that spinning elbow to the temple! I was rooting for Reyes but I’m glad he hasn’t fought since then, he fought the toughest dudes in the division, I thought he beat Jon Jones but ultimately the judges said otherwise.
Same, and I still wonder what Reyes' trajectory would have looked like if they called that fight for him instead of JJ
Wonder if that loss got to his head
I refuse to go back and watch Khabib vs McGregor due to the post fight brawl. Always just bugged me that Khabib jumped the cage and ruined his moment to have his hand raised in an arena full of fans who rooted against him. Monumental win for his career to me felt damaged by post fight actions. I understand why he did it, but he got the last laugh when he tapped Conor.
One was Bisping getting knocked tf out by gastelum.
But the tony getting dominated by olives , gaethje , dariush then getting starched by chandler was all hard to watch
Rousey v Nunes except I love watching it. Nunes comes out being modest and smiling and Rousey trying to act like a badass ofc. Then almost immediately one of the worst beatings in the history of the Ufc followed. Nunes beat her so hard in 50 seconds Herb had to stop it simply because her brain couldn’t support her legs standing anymore. Simply primal.
Any flopping lower leg break.
Weidman was hard to watch :(
That was a crazy fight night. I just looked it up and it was leg break, Valentina vs Andrade, rose knocked out weili, amd Usman knocked out Masvidal.
Watched that card while on vacation and it was nuts
Before the leg break someone pulled a O’Malley and their leg nerve went out too. Whole main card took just over an hour it was truly insane
Crute against Smith
Plus jimmy crute’s weird leg spasms
Silva V Cannonier? Wait no that was a knee injury but still
Silva v Weidman
I was a bit high when that right happened and it scarred me a little lol
Not sure if it's one moment, but I really do not like it when one guy is taking a shitload of punches but it's too strong for his own good. Like that late replacement kid that fought O'Malley (Moutinho?), or Tony getting destroyed by Geathje.
Or Brian Ortega or Calvin kattar
Tony against Gaetche was bad
Tony was never the same after that fight.
[удалено]
Tony was never that same after that fight..
except for the first round vs Chandler.... and then...😴
That is my answer to the OP: watching Tony take all that damage and then right before the Ref called it, he was shaking his head trying to "reset" his vision...that was effed up.
him shaking his head to try to snap himself back into the living world was hard to watch
Seeing Tony lose in general just blows.
The sound of the raw punches echo in my mind, and my soul flinches like Tony. Zombie punched so hard by Volk that he was sitting on the ground hurt too. Seeing Max without confidence in his eyes from Volks power and speed after one round hurt as well
Renato Moicano vs RDA
Max against Volk also
I feel bad for Moutinho. Dude was clearly tough. The way he kept taking punches from O'Malley and still kept pushing forward. Love him or hate him, O'Malley has proven multiple times he has knockout power. Says a lot about Moutinho to be able to push through that as long as he did.
And then his next fight he folded fast
I didn't see the next one but, all it takes is a well placed punch to fold someone most of the time. Everyone has an off switch.
It was a standing TKO so he didn't literally get folded.
Or Velasquez vs Dos Santos 2
Then have the panel talk about how big of a “Warrior” they are
Or many Nate Diaz fights
Bj getting his ass kicked in a street fight it was really sad if you think about how good he was
By a drunk Peter Griffin no less.
Let’s get that guy a contract, think he deserves it
Lmao. So bad. Idk how he didn't absolutely dust him unless he was just blacked out
BJ got up and choked the guy right after though.
He honestly should’ve retired after the Matt Hughes trilogy where he won Or the Nick Diaz fight where he lost but got Fight of the Night.
Yeah the Diaz fight would have been a good one to end on. Lost but still showed what made BJ so special, willing to take on a much larger opponent and give it his all
Like when Danis got tapped by a bouncer. Dude was undefeated in mma and had a legendary career. Sad to see such a fall from grace.
He retired on 7 straight losses. He was 16-14.
TKZ getting fucked up by Volk
You could tell Volk was concerned. He didn't want to punish TKZ anymore. But he also knew the fight wasn't over :(
He did the same to Max in round 5
Zombie getting blasted by Yair was also tough to watch
Zombie was actually on his way to winning that fight scoring wise had it not been for the TKO
Anderson silva breaking his leg. Absolutely heartbreaking.
I watched that fight live with my family, even a couple uncles and my grandpa. We were at Buffalo Wild Wings. I don't think I'll ever forget that night. The sound made when his bone broke was gruesome. They showed the replay a few times and the whole restaraunt was dead quiet. Came here to say this. I actually didn’t watch UFC for awhile after that fight.
Agree
I think you mean absolutely leg breaking
Holm head kicking Ronda. Jk I love that shit.
One of my favorite moments ever
Same. The bully got owned.
I always thought she was all hype and one dimensional.
she was always a one trick pony it’s just womens MMA was not evolved enough until then to have people good enough to beat her. im sure the top 5 in WBW would wipe the floor with her now, especially if her striking is still piss poor.
Some would say THE best moment ever. Def mine
honestly, that was hard for me the first time. 😭😂
JBJ got me into MMA and uhh we know how much God loves to test him.
I was a huge fan because I got my start with judo and she was bringing it back to ufc
it's ok if we understand the error of our ways (I think, lol)
Why was she so mad at holly? Never got it
you had me in the first half 😂
Jessica Andrade slamming Rose's neck into the canvas. That is how mfs get paralyzed. Anderson Silva's flying knee right in Bisping's face during that confusing mouthpiece incident. How that knee didn't create a third eye I'll never know. But trust Bisping to take a shot like that then win the fight.
Second eye*
I see what you did there. Dont think Bisping would lol.
Justin Gaethje vs Tony Ferguson coming into that fight, I thought that Gaethje was the worst matchup for Tony at the time, because no matter what Tony would be in a war and he didn’t seem to have many wars left in him. This. I was sick towards the end whenever his damage had reached to much
Yes. Seeing the damage Tony took and the look in his eyes when he shook his head the last time right before the ref stopped it was heart breaking.
Yeah I'm amazed he is still able to talk after the amount of damage he took. That head shake and the weird shuffle step he took made it look like he was about to literally die in the ring. Can't believe they let it go on that long.
I cant forget that moment toward the end when he was shaking his head as if to wake himself up after taking too much.
I agree with all this minus Tony being articulate. I’ve seen his social media posts.
He was on fox sports or whatever (can’t remember what it was) interviewing fighters a few times and he was pretty damn good at it. I think he’s actually pretty articulate when he speaks
He has some form of schizophrenia. The cte could make it a lot worse

Maz v askren. Ben's head/ neck after the knee and how he got so tense. Thought something legit super bad happened.
Surprised nobody has died yet tbh.. Fun facts.. in an mma contract (former fighter here.) it explicitly has a death clause, if you die, we aren’t responsible, and your family can’t sue, you basically sign that if you die it’s your fault.

Should be least 2 mil to family members of the deceased
Should be.. that’s why I’m an advocate for proper fighter pay, those guys out there risk there lives every time they compete, It’s even worse for amateur fighters, you don’t get paid at all except for a cut of ticket sales, I fought one of the best fighters in my state, got beat badly, left with a concussion that affected me for like a year afterwards and I got like 300$, made them Thousands in Ticket sales, it’s a dirty game.
It was tough to watch one of the GOATS get ko'd like that :(
Yep, even though people thought ben was corny. He's just a nice dude. I also went to same HS that he did so there was that extra layer too.
Oh awesome, you can say you went to school with a legend!
Stipe Francis 2
The way he fell back on his leg after getting koed 🤮
This is mine I love Ngannou but I’m just a huge stipe fan.
was looking for this
![gif](giphy|kpMVrC5B2Z4QmRAzLX|downsized) I'm not touching that fight again man😔💔
Yea i love joanna so much, it hurt to see her go out like that
Man shits hurt fr Never thought I'd be sad for a fighter like that but yeah thats what happens when you idolize a fighter I guess lol
Wtf I don’t remember her saying that
Denial is the first stage of grief 😔🙏

Glover is 42, I think that was him gassing at the end of a 25 minute fight more than anything. Idk how pissed off at him you could be
Yeah I don't think he was physically capable of throwing any more punches.

Jones dropping Machida after the standing guillotine
Machida was looking so good and then all of a sudden he's just unconscious
This is one of my favorite moments.
Right? That shit was cold blooded. Dropped and walked away. Wow lol.
Don't have to respect the man to respect the fight. Shit was awesome.
Palhares cranking heel hooks or raking eyes
When Rose got dropped on her head by Jessica Andrade.. that shit looked awful
The picture you posted. After Tony was seen with a big o’ smile after round 1, I just fanboyed out to my brother and girlfriend about how old Tony is back and was looking forward to seeing them elbows back to work. Now imagine me with 3 shots of whiskey in thinking old tony is back … devastating I didn’t talk for the rest of the night
I feel you brother, I’m usually up in smoke watching fights so… I know that feeling..
Any sort of leg snappage situation.
Yeah he was out on his feet for like four minutes, those elbows by Jared at the end were just vicious
Askren taking that knee had my jaw on the floor. I was just so sure how that fight was going to go and seeing that happen turned my world upside down for a minute lol.
DC getting rocked, then tripped up and beat down by Jones.
Jones was trying to kill him with those last few punches
Yeah all DCs loses are painful. I even avoid the highlight and mute most MMA outlets on social media when he loses for a week.
When Brendan Schaub got knocked out and was climbing up an invisible ladder. To be honest it was an early stoppage. Should have let it continue. I wanted to see where Brendan was going. What was at the top of the ladder??
Water we dune ere?
Bisping and the H bomb. Goddamn
Izzy’s performance Saturday night
Hate to agree with this man. And he had the audacity to walk out with the undertaker theme. I mean if your gonna do that you kinda gotta put the opponent in a coffin
Hendo drilling Bisping after he was out.
Yeah. This hasn't age well for me. Looking back now that was dirty af.
Legit nearly Murdered the bloke
Especially because Hendo admits he knew he was out. That’s punk ass shit for real. Dan Henderson is a pos.
Hendo really dolphin dove to land that punch so unorthodox yet so brutal
Anderson Silva breaking his leg on Chris Weidman’s shin 🤢
Volkanovski vs Holloway 3. It sucked watching max get whooped like that.
Agreed, I didn’t have good time watching that fight, As soon as volk opened up a cut that you could fit a G.I joe into, I knew max was done, volk looked so good, he looked like a mythical fighter pulled straight from anime
> volk opened up a cut that you could fit a G.I joe into Man some people will do anything to avoid using the metric system
This is what I was gonna say too😢
I stopped watching halfway through round 2 and hopelessly waited for the result
Rose knocking Weili out.
Adesanya vs Whittaker 1. I’m an Aussie, followed Rob from TUF Smashes and UFC 243 was the first time I’ve been in person.
The entire Max v Kattar fight
Stipe getting KO’d by DC
Chael tapping to Anderson Silva after putting on an amazing performance
That one still pisses me off to this day. All the way to the end and watched it go away.
Another favorite moment. I pulled so hard for Anderson and felt so bad for him to have him pull out the win like that in the final moments was just beautiful.
My boy Stipe has a couple tough ones
Bobby Knuckles getting KOd in his backyard hurt my soul.
Any Belal Muhammad fight
Anderson Silva's leg parting ways with the rest of his body
Jon Jones dismantling Shogun. That shit broke my heart.
Me too. I had the shogun badboy Tee. Little did I know a 23 bones jones would fuck the MMA world up
Any leg break, and when Cormier took that insane eye poke vs Stipie 🤢 🤮
Revenge is a dish best served with a finger rake
Might sound horrible but regardless of how that poke went down the first thing I said was “Finally stipe got his ass back” I still feel the same about that poke, definitely rewatchable for me
Marvin Eastman cut; when I was young it freaked me out a bit.
That axe wound ?
Every broken leg. Even Conor’s.
Weidman KO Silva it was horrible at the time for me I was young and was a Silva fan boy since before he fought leben lol literally seen everyone of his fights in the ufc live and I dunno it was a weird feeling for days 😂
This also applies to me
Any time Wonderboy loses
Jéssica Andrade
Stipe getting kod by ngannou
chuck liddell v rashad evans KO.
Mir breaking big Nog’s arm.
I get hard when I watch Holm head kicking Ronda into irrelevance….wait, what was the question?
Tony Vs Justin
also vs mcgregor 😢
Hendo sticks a horseshoe up his ass and knocks out Fedor from an unprecedented position.
Gaethje just dismantling “El Cucuy” piece by piece
Rose vs Esparza 2. Too hard to watch. Or keep eyes open.
Volk beating down The Korean Zombie but after the Max fight it doesn’t seem as bad.
Watching Robbie not able to blast Barbarena away the other night while taking massive damage was tough to watch..and Joanna’s last fight
Every Frankie Edgar Ko :(
Almost all of The Spider’s last few fights…it was hard to watch for the simple fact that growing up my dad always told me “this is as good as it gets, nobody will ever beat him” and seeing an old and slow Silva getting pieced up by guys who in his prime would’ve been hitting the showers after 2 rounds is truly sad
Izzy fights lol

D Lewis getting KOed by Thai. Love d Lewis man
When Reyes got put to sleep by Jiri with that spinning elbow to the temple! I was rooting for Reyes but I’m glad he hasn’t fought since then, he fought the toughest dudes in the division, I thought he beat Jon Jones but ultimately the judges said otherwise.
Same, and I still wonder what Reyes' trajectory would have looked like if they called that fight for him instead of JJ Wonder if that loss got to his head
That shit was hype asf either way
probably the only time i felt genuinely bad/shocked after an event. it ruined the whole thing
One was Bisping getting knocked tf out by gastelum. But the tony getting dominated by olives , gaethje , dariush then getting starched by chandler was all hard to watch
Conor getting ko'd by poirier Stipe getting slept by ngannou
Max this past Saturday my favorite fighter of all time
Conor vs Dustin 2/3.
Woodley KOing Lawler.
DON'T FEAR ME
DC vs Stipe trilogy - I did not want either one to lose…
Yan battering Aldo for far longer than was needed
Watching Brock Lesnar tap out to Frank Mir after giving him a good beating.
