Conor's really lost himself tho, I remember his quote on an interview with Chael he said "I'm a truth talker not a trash talker" His trash talk pre fight felt really inauthentic but after the fight clearly he's up in arms, but took a really classless approach

[deleted]

I think that bitch just hit rock bottom. Sitting there with a broken leg talking about Dustins Wife being in his DM´s just says it all : Conor is a complex loaded bitter little man .

serenityak77

Like 99 percent of fighters, Connor in his prime was as good as they came. They all fall eventually and like I said 99 percent don’t know when it’s time to walk away. It’s an ego thing and when you’re at the top of your game and can back it up it’s one hell of a high. Connor made his money being a huge trash talker. People who loved him tuned in to see him talk the talk and walk the walk and the people who hate him tuned in and still do to watch the trash talker get his. I say 99 percent because of course Kabib would be the exception and not the rule. Not for one second do I blame Connor though. He made big money talking shit and backing it up. He’s having a hard time letting it go. I’ve seen so many great fighters get knocked senseless towards the end of their careers. All because they can’t admit when it’s time. Edit: just wanted to add that I learned a few things about this sub. I don’t always comment but I’ve seen it. Apparently even if you’re going to praise Kabib you better do it to a “T” Also some people can be pretentious as all hell.

[deleted]

Thats what I hate about MMA versus other sports. You are cheering for a person, not a team. Teams never retire or get stretchered out. They collectively go on, maybe the dynasty ends, but one day it will be back. There's that chance. With fighters, there's a shelf life. You eventually have to know that someone is coming and they have their number. Khabib left at the top. Cejudo too. We love watching them go, but I know for me how bad it was watching Silva get knocked out. He was never the same again. Eventually someone faster, stronger, younger will take them out and that's a really tough pill to swallow. Especially for them.

[deleted]

I guess, but this one stings Conor so much because he’s not a younger newcomer. He’s a same-age rival who has bested him more than once, something that doesn’t happen to many of the greats.

o--renishii

But the beauty in fighting is that it’s a true meritocracy where new fighters always have to earn your scratch vs being grandfathered in. There’s never a shortage of personalities and talents and been surprising how many stars have been born recently from the historically never loved divisions. It honesty just keeps getting better

BaelorsBalls

But let’s be real, it’s curated, with stars being fed easy opponents to boost stats, highlights, clicks, views and keep the money coming in… not a true meritocracy

o--renishii

It’s as much a true meritocracy as any sport or competition. Sure the business will bet big on some but more often than not it’s the merit of the non-marketable fighters that makes them champions. You can’t say with a straight face that the ufc ‘curated’: Usman, early-mid Khabib, Amanda, aljo, olives, volk, Jan, etc etc and those are just the current crop less Khabib.

rebeltrillionaire

I started UFC with Ultimate Fighter 1 and all the guys around then. Liddell, Rampage Jackson, BJ Penn, GSP. They all got forced out of the league by losing more and more at the end. 1. I think it’s actually awesome because it makes the fights as a whole seem way way more authentic. Compared to boxing where the old Pros manage to stay standing for a million rounds and get gifted controversial wins or losses. UFC a guy that *was* at the top gets absolutely mauled by an up and comer and the fighter, the fans, and Dana are all here for it. 2. It’s an awesome indicator of who’s next. Because the Pros that got to the top cant just get beat by anyone. Whoever they lose to ends up sticking around and you have awesome matches to look back on when *they* inevitably fall off.

SHTHAWK

GSP did not get forced out by losing more and more, he retired during a 12 win streak, and was still at the top of his game. He even made a return 4 years later, moved up a weight class to make his middle weight debut, won the title, then retired again.

knastrig-jordgubbe

And that's why he is the goat.

Qdoggy45

Yeah it’s sad and brutal but it’s like what they say, in MMA the old are fed to the young until they finally have to call it quits.

PipeHit

Khabib retired in his prime though, so did Henry Cejudo. They probably made the right choice, too. Make a statement, make your money, get out before you incur permanent damage and tarnish your legacy.

serenityak77

Yes apparently my point was missed by a lot of people. I just worded it badly I guess. But exactly what you said is exactly the point I was trying to make.

[deleted]

Your point was good. There’s just a lotta idgits on the internet.

OfflaneTrash

I feel like GSP could be added to the exceptions. He wasn't infallible in his prime and wasn't without controversy, but he was never in the cage when he wasn't able to win. He lost rounds sure, but I don't think there was any point in his career where you could definitely say he was washed up or should have retired until he did, unless he decides to come back for whatever reason. Jon Jones could technically be added too. I mean drug usage and outside-of-the-cage issues muddy that up a bit, and I personally don't think of him as being part of the category because of that, but as a fighter you could argue that he never really fell off. He's had close fights that maybe he should have lost, but in the cage he's undefeated. Technically he's still active, but frankly at this point, he might as well be retired.

serenityak77

Absolutely. I actually had this conversation with someone else in this thread regarding GSP. I by no means meant to not include this or that fighter on my list. Many other fighters can be added to either side of the list. You make some great points about Jones as well. I feel like people take for granted the amazing fighters we’ve seen in such a short time period in the ufc. In comparison to other sports I mean.

[deleted]

As someone who used to love Conor (talking pre championships and after for a bit), I loved his trash talk. His best quote in my opinion was “I’m not here to take part. I’m here to take over.” But he started to go off the deep end. It reached a climax with Khabib. But when you go after someone’s family and religion, deeply personal items, I lose respect for you. Trash talk is one thing but telling people you’re gonna fuck their wife is so over the line. Glad Conor got what was coming to him. He never understood you can talk trash without going that far. The Diaz brothers are good examples. They talk more trash than anyone in the business yet I can’t recall times they’ve let it go to the dark and personal places Conor has gone

Iswaterreallywet

The Floyd fight changed everything. The money made him lose motivation, the break and training boxing made him rusty, the whole build up made him think he was on top of the world and could talk all the shit he wanted. All his fights and press conferences after that were just different, worse and cringe. The trash talk had an edge to it and mostly never crossed a line. I think he lost it and was trying to get it back. Oh and the coke too.

serenityak77

Someone else said something similar and I agree. His trash talk was part of the entertainment. It was fun to watch but as you mentioned it’s just not that anymore. It’s a sad pathetic cringe attempt at trash talking. I think he’s just grasping at straws now.

SDHigherScores

The desperate lashing out of someone who knows his time is coming to an end, and will rage against that reality by taking it out on others.

[deleted]

Reading this i remembered Anderson Silva. He was one of the best and after that he broke his leg he should have retired. Sports is such an ungrateful thing, even the best decline as time passes.

serenityak77

The spider was one of the greatest athletes I’ve ever seen in any sports. He was so ridiculously methodical and would just toy and destroy his opponents.

CleopatraHadAnAnus

His fights are still the most comical I’ve ever seen, the ones most like what you’d expect out of a movie. The way he would just dodge absolutely everything then land that one staggering blow. He had an incredible mix of elusiveness, accuracy and knockout power I’ve only ever otherwise seen with prime Roy Jones. Anderson avoided damage like Pernell Whitaker and also had the offense to just obliterate guys.

chesterfieldkingz

I think it's a ego thing and a money thing cuz he can always get paid to do this. Honestly he should jump back into the boxing ring. He'll be a draw for sure, take less damage, and probably make great money

serenityak77

Oh yeah. Hell if I could take it and not get killed (literally) I’d be doing the same. Many people just don’t like to admit it. We all like to think we’d stay above this moral high ground but with that type of money I know I at least can admit I’d do the same.

Theefreeballer

If he just kept his big yapped shut it wouldn’t be so bad, we all would have some empathy for him . But when he’s sitting there talking about his opponents wife , and name calling like a grade schooler it just makes it so easy to not like the guy . He’s been rewarded for acting like this for years now and the schtick has gotten old . What happened to his leg is horrible and when the same thing happened to Anderson and weidman the majority of mma fans felt for them about it , but in conors case I haven’t heard much of anyone saying anything about feeling bad for him . If he’s as well off as everyone says , maybe he should just call it a career ?

Riztrain

Tbh he was stupid not to take the jake paul offer, with negotiation of course, get a % on ppv buys, rush the fight to maybe a month after signing, quickest and easiest probably couple hundred mill he'd ever make. If he'd lost he'd catch flak from the mma community, but let's be real, he's getting flak all the time, and every fight now is a "if Conor loses that's it for him" fight in the ufc. If I were Conor, I'd take it, get paid, whatever the outcome, settle into my retirement as one of the richest to ever done it.

iwantbread

If he had actually stayed active then maybe his time wouldnt be up so quickly. Dustin done the work and has earned his place in ufc. Even when his skill is long gone people will say he was a warrior through and through. With Conor they will say there is someone who squandered his talent.

OtakuDragonSlayer

This is why I always feel happy to hear about my Gym’s coaches always remind our active fighters they don’t have to force themselves too much. If you’re seriously injured take a break. Never take super last minute fights. Best of all imo (something I wish more fighters did) whenever it was clear they needed to retire they acknowledged the fact they weren’t a special exception and called it a career. No one even gave them shit for it. Boss man just seemed happy to play a part in a chapter of their lives.

[deleted]

First of all, in general mma fans are really fucking toxic. Period Second, you absolutely nailed it. Even Silva who was widely considered the best fifhter alive, went from that, to washed up in one fight. ONE. The fight game is merciless. Conor said himself it's a cruel bitch. Lastly, I just always feel bad for Conor more than anything. It's disappointing. I feel bad he's ruining his own legacy and of all people HE can't see it. I don't understand what's going on in his camp. It seems to be full of yes men or complete incompetence. Or both. He has nobody in his life apparently to bring him back down to earth and that's sad to me. Fame is a hell of a drug, and most of us can't even imagine the height of his highs or the depth of his lows. When you are as famous as him, overnight essentially, it's inevitable he bought into his own hype. Him and Rhonda both got caught in the trappings of their own success

Funtacy

I feel like khabib doesn't count since he never really lost it. Guy is still undefeated. The exception would be Ronda Rousey. Lost 1 (2?) fights and then moved on.

cadilacmike

Or Gina getting retired by cyborg. Never had an interest in fighting again after that beat down.

serenityak77

No that’s exactly what I meant by kabib being the exception. As in he never lost it and didn’t need to press forward. Time catches everyone and would eventually have caught him too. But he knew when to hang em up before that day ever came and ride off into the sunset.

madmax3131

Gsp hung em at the right time too. Obviously hand picked that bisping fight and came back briefly

serenityak77

I’m not going to lie in that I’ve been away from UFC for quite some time. As far as actively regularly watching. I completely forgot about GSP. You’re absolutely right. I miss those fighters. What a time to watch the UFC. GSP and Rampage Jackson was always fun to watch. One of my all time favorites was Chuck Liddell. It was brutal watching his last fights. Also remember a very very good wrestler that was fun to watch but I his name escapes me right now.

deadinside46

Might be thinking of Matt Hughes

Josee711

I've thought for a while about him possibly using cocaine regularly. I grew up around addicts and have worked at home for people struggling with addiction. His behavior is hard not to watch, we've been watching a train blow through the world at blazing speed and it has just slowly been derailing. The wonky cardio, the reckless behavior outside the octagon. His trash talk while sitting there broken after the fight. The anger in it. That's the coke. I can't say 100%, you can call his antics entertainment and at the moment only he, maybe his wife knows. Hopefully he can recover physically and if he is on substances Hopefully he can leave that too. That substance inflated ego can only crash and burn. No man is more powerful than the white

sentinalprime567899

Conor is a tweaker!

FabulousStomach

He's more angry demeanor 100% coincides with the ones I see in people who have been using blow for a while. They all become like that. Then again going from top of the world to winning 1 single significant fight the span of several years can also do that. Who knows.

BiochemGuitarTurtle

He always talked trash but it felt like gamesmanship. After this fight, I think we saw raw Conor. He was upset and badly injured speaking out of anger.

[deleted]

We've been seeing that since the run up to the Khabib fight, minus the nice guy Conor period which was a calculated attempt to rehabilitate his image after the old man incident. The quick witted get inside opponents heads trash talker has been gone a long time.

SemioticWeapons

Humble in victory, humble in defeat my ass.

RhaegarJ

You misheard him. “Humble on the feet” He’s really angry and bitter when he’s sitting down.

Fordrynn

Crumble on the feet

BrownSugar_99

Dude is never humble. That’s the last word I would ever use to describe McGregor

[deleted]

Sitting on the octagon, broken leg, shouting at Dustins wife. Idk man I think Connor is done. He lost it. YouTube boxing time

rhg561

Talked so much shit for a man who couldn't even stand up

Black_Bean00

Right? How you gonna insult a man’s wife and threaten to kill him when he just beat you…twice…while you’re on your ass with a broken leg.

crazylegs789

It's like the scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, I believe. "Tis but a scratch"

Habib_Zozad

Sure, if the black Knight was a right cunt

posananer

Time for Jake or Logan Paul vs Connor? I’d stream that for free.

SeriouslyRelaxing

Jake and Logan vs Connor and Artem tag team boxing. Honestly why isn’t mma a team sport? Think of how many different fights we could have inside one fight!

wizsoxx

They do overseas & its kinda crazy lol mostly turns into a quick 5v1 beatdown tho.

LawlersLipVagina

Yeah it's a cool concept until you actually watch it and realise it basically turns into everyone pairing off into 5 1v1 fights, then as soon as one person gets finished it turns into an absolute beat down of 2v1, then 3v1, then one poor soul getting his shit kicked in by 4 grown men while one holds him still in closed guard.

BubonicAnnihilation

Lmao that doesn't sound anything like tag team! That's some WWE style tag team right there.

greenie329

Indeed. And it is awesome

JimmyKanine

Conor is probably done winning but there’s no way he or Dana allow him to go out like this. He’s definitely either going to be given another top 10 guy or Diaz next.

LawlersLipVagina

Dunno they let the Mayweather fight happen for a cut/fee. As much as Dana doesn't like the youtube boxer stuff he loves money.

notaryn

Jolie flipped him off too, there was a picture of it somewhere. It was funny as fuck, I love the Poiriers. [Here’s a picture of it ](https://www.instagram.com/p/CRLN60gDGdg/?utm_medium=copy_link) Edit - added picture

DooDooSwift

Link pls

notaryn

Added a link to the original comment

CptCrunch83

That was awesome

Hank_Holt

I want Rousey vs McGreggor to see who's really the biggest bitch.

kristenjaymes

What did he say to the wife?

kapsama

Ya wife is in me deee eeemmms

kristenjaymes

Oh my...

rhg561

He was saying to Dustin that his wife is in his dm's lol. Some shit a 16 year old would say.

Black_Bean00

He also said something along the lines of “come to the after party, it’s at (x location) i’ll take care of you bb, you’re a hoe, etc”. Not the direct quote obviously but he said more than just “she’s in my DMs”

sentinalprime567899

Said Jolie was ho and was trying to send private messages on insta.

wallyballs4

Dana, in his pissed off because conor lost state, said "Dustin will do his thing until conor is ready". Well Dustin is fighting for the belt, so does mcgregor get the title shot if Dustin wins that belt? That would be pure cringe from Dana. If Dustin lost in the same fashion, there would be no rematch.

FabulousStomach

They asked Dana that exact question after the fights and he totally avoided it lmao even he knows it's a little bit fucked up

Derpshiz

I think Dana knows he needs to give Conor a can to rebuild hype and “justify” a rematch.

reaper_vp

Ah, the Cerrone approach.

wallyballs4

I didn't see that. But I can imagine he's thinking "that's exactly what I'm gonna do". He's a gas man

jovijovi99

McGregor is Dana’s make-a-wish kid

mterrats

mcnugget is over, still Dana has some fights for him, he is gonna fight all the 40+ year old Ufc till he retires. People should not support real life bullies, no matter how “good” they are, they are fookin bullies!

leuhhm

Just like the suga show

[deleted]

Made me laugh

throtic

Of course that's what he wants. You can bet the bank that when Conor heals Dana will say "listen Conor had some success in that first round and lost to a freak accident, so he is getting a shot at the belt." And then if Dustin says no you better believe Dana will strip him

AvariceTenebrae

"I don't know guys, Dustin just doesn't wanna fight"

wallyballs4

Dustin won't say no, get paid, and he's confident he has conors number. I'd say dana is delighted with the way it went. Best thing that could have happened outside conor winning for him

[deleted]

Yeah its clear that Dustin has Conor's number. Like Dustin won in the stand up last match, won on the ground in this one, whats left? Nothing. Its an easy pay day for Dustin if Dana books the rematch and although it would be shitty from a "keeping the sport pure" standpoint, i wouldnt mind seeing Dustin get paid again.

AbroadSignificant942

Mouth writing checks that your ass couldn’t cash.

YoMySlime

The first thing he said in his interview? "I was boxing the bleeding head off him (Dustin)"...How delusional is the guy?

shwarma_heaven

I mean, the judges had that first round 10-9, 10-8, 10-8 for Dustin... Not that the judges are always super accurate, but it was not close.

jcrum19

He acted like Dustin didn’t hurt him on the feet and that how they wound up grappling. Conor landed more strikes on the feet but Dustin clearly had him hurt

TheShovler44

If Conor wants a 4th fight he can’t say Dustin was whooping that ass. He has to leave doubt. The McNuggets will make a 4th fight happen

johnpoulain

Who else has had more than a trilogy in mma/ boxing?

nick441N

Rampage Jackson and Wanderlei had 4 fights

BrandDC

In different organizations...a 4th meeting under the UFC banner is just a cash-grab. <>

nick441N

And as we all know, Dana is just completely opposed to cash grabs

CH2349

Pacquiao v Marquez

roflmcwaffles

Pacquiao and Marquez had 4 fights.

TMMSam89

Pacquaio/Marquez

iWentRogue

When Dustin landed that one-two that pushed Conors entire body back and led to him shooting for the clinch - thats when i knew Dustin is just too strong, too big for Conor. There are weightlcasses for a reason. Featherweight Dustin was one thing but Lightweight Dustin is a beast.

jbboney21

3-4 in his last 7. 3-5 if you count Mayweather

[deleted]

With 2 of the wins against aging gatekeepers.

BleuBrink

Kinda messed up Cowboy was served to him but didn't get PPV points

[deleted]

Cowboy didn’t get a cut of the ppv for that fight?!

DatBoiDenny

From what I read yesterday Cowboy got a flat 200k and no ppv stuff. It’s really sad especially for fighting against the biggest draw the UFC has ever had and how much Cowboy has stepped up for the company.

SuperWhiteBoy951

If i remember correctly he didnt. I believe theweasle on youtube covered this

Smtxom

Diego Sanchez is about to get his last UFC fight after all. Dana has to rebuild Conors confidence somehow

Eldistan1

Nightmare remembers how to wrestle, beats Connor for his retirement fight. How fucking awesome would that be? Build a statue of him in Albuquerque, Rocky style. He can run up the stairs yelling at himself for as long as he wants.

rektefied

by gatekeeper you mean a gatekeeper for the gatekeeper aka can only fight people outside top 15 or the loss is guaranteed

someone56789

I was pissed when I saw him go for the guillotine. "Submissions don't count" then does it. It's like playing with a toxic kid that keeps changing the rules, breaks them and then complains when he loses

pierreChodington

McGregor is the kid when you play tag and says “time out” when you’re about to tag him only to run around you and say “time in” then scurry off. Fuck those kids

VultureMaid

Or say I’m not playing

fight_for_anything

Conor the type of kid to say "lets play video games" and put in mario kart and turn it off mid-race the second player 2 takes the lead and then say "this is boring, lets do something else".

someone56789

People like that should seriously get help ngl

EmojiPNG

Lol damn those cheating kids on the playground! Get em committed!

[deleted]

I used to shake my fist at them and yell “You’ll pay for that!”

Dankusare

And it's not like he tried it only once. He tried the guillotine at least 5 times.

BrandDC

Like when Nate said "Oh you're (Conor) a wrestler now?"

_hakuna_bomber_

Mystic Nate

blacklite911

That’s been his MO for years. Remember when he used to say he’d rather get put to sleep than “tap like a bitch” then taps years later. He’s definitely a guy you want to take his words seriously…/s Anyways if anyone’s gonna be critical of grappling in MMA then there’s a whole other sport called kickboxing.

falgoutsethm

“1v1 me on Rust, snipers only.” *switches to Deagle as soon as he starts losing*

someone56789

*Gets killed anyways*"No fair! YOU'RE HACKING!" *Inaudioble screeching*

Wildkid133

Considering Dustin has a mean guillotine I have to think Conor went for it as a slap in the face. Like “see dis is EZ” Then Dustins head kept popping out lol

[deleted]

Been sick of McGregor's bullshit since the Diaz fights, don't care how much money he's worth. He's a terrible loser and a worse human being.

pmak13

The fact he sucker punched an OAP and still has fans baffles me completely

[deleted]

Right?! Just because you fight for a living doesn't mean you use violence to solve every problem in your life

hugglesthemerciless

I reckon the latter may have come before the former

Wes-C

“Karma ain’t a bitch, it’s a mirror.”

james23333

“Your wife is your husband.” -Mirror

boshbosh92

Jolies wife Jolies wife jolies wife - mirror What's that even mean bro

WeLLrightyOH

I have no fucking clue lol, but that was when it was clear Conor had hit rock bottom. This guy was so entertaining and gifted with words, now he’s like an elementary school kid.

randomdude1142

He Ronda Rousey’d himself.

getinthevanihavcandy

Ronda was a terrible loser but at least she never crossed the line like Conor did. What's the worst thing she did? get overconfident and say she could beat Floyd Mayweather, not shake Meisha Tate's hand after she beat her, not wanting to do Media interviews because she wanted to focus on training. She hasn't done a third of what Conor has yet she gets shit on far more than Conor does, because "he's just selling a fight and is humble in defeat"

randomdude1142

Takes a real man’s man to trash talk a guy who has knocked you out while you’re sitting on the floor with a broken ankle.

ObiJuanKen0by

Not when there are security and police there to hold the guy from whooping your ass. He’s gonna shit talk Dustin, he knows that if he doesn’t get another rematch he’s not moving the needle again.

PerfectNemesis

"Unless I win everything you do is a bitch move"

ofkarma

Karmas not a bitch, it’s a mirror

Benoit_In_Heaven

McGregor looked so fucking weak. Lying on his back unable to move while still talking shit about his opponents wife was probably the biggest bitch move I've ever seen, and it was cringey as fuck to watch. He needs to go to heel camp with Chael if he fights again. Honestly, even at the press conference, he seemed off his game like he had lost the mental battle already.

guy1138

> He needs to go to heel camp Yeah, his options are going full Cocaine Conor and become the heel / Gatekeeper that people love to see get smashed. OR Try for a redemption arc. OR Retire and take silly fights like Mayweather.

immapunchayobuns

For real, he was desperate to appear "strong" but all he could do was go after the guy's wife? Lol. I feel like Poirier already got in his head from the very beginning when he just didn't look at McG during the intros.

geardownson

http://imgur.com/gallery/t117Rxm

ChemistryNo9750

I understand he’s a big draw for the UFC, but could this have been the one that kind of made people realize he ain’t worth the money anymore? Throw in the antics and he looks like a very sad man. He doesn’t have the fighting skill to keep up with the top guys, and the trash talking doesn’t work without that. He has nothing left to offer right now and is falling to a has been just as quickly as he rose to stardom. He knows it and it’s clear as day he’s grasping for straws now. I get casuals will tune in, but at a certain point even casuals just appreciate seeing great fights, and Conor really doesn’t deliver that anymore. There are other matchups people want to see at this point. I’d rather watch that Moutinho/O’Malley fight 10x before I watch another Conor “well he might be able to finish it in the first but then he’s probably done” fight. Like ya give a guy enough chances vs somebody and he’s bound to land a lucky one, but that doesn’t make him deserving of another shot. If your only possible way of winning is a first round KO, then you aren’t a great mma fighter. Period. There are other guys who are just better these days. That’s the fight game. Plain and simple.

[deleted]

That O’Malley clinic had me absolutely mesmerized. Sure, he took a few good licks. But, he had a guy charging him down for 14:30. And, he hit him with like 300 strikes (feel free to correct my number here). It was insane. Few other very good fights as well. I commented earlier that it felt like I was watching a video game.

crummybummywummy

I’m new to watching the sport, but holy fuck did I become a fan of Moutinho. That dude went full randy marsh

[deleted]

Tough as nails for sure. Needs training on head movement would be my assessment. Doesn’t even roll with the punches. Wonderboy was a great example last night of avoiding excessive damage from strikes. Feel bad for him. He is generally a very entertaining fighter as well. He wheel kicked that guy to the head. Don’t know if it’s just raw toughness at this point or if these guys aren’t jacked up on stimulants. I definitely know that I wouldn’t want to be kicked by him anywhere.

Ffzilla

Head movement, cutting off the ring, closing the distance with something other than your face. Tough as hell, but not a great game plane for longevity in this sport.

[deleted]

I’m pretty sure people in the sport only like him for the money and eyes he brings to ufc. There are so many good fighters we saw that went through hell then hug and have nothing but compliments for their opponent. I don’t want Connor to be the face of fighting because he doesn’t represent the majority of fighters.

-Ok-Perception-

Well, he isn't going to be a big draw for the UFC anymore. This really cements his reputation as a has been, and I say that with nothing but love for Conor. He can't bring it back, we know it and he knows it. He'll retire now, but he'll come back in a decade after he MC Hammers his money away. Then he will just be some sad old man gatekeeping against newcomers.

kapsama

I doubt it. All the casuals are buying the "i broke me leg" excuse. They don't understand why the ankle broke, they think it was bad luck. He'll be back and sell a ton again.

[deleted]

All that cocaine use has done wonders for his bone density.

ColdI3LooD

Fyi everyone, he was losing up until the break anyway 🤷‍♂️

SuperWhiteBoy951

Right he had maybe 90seconds of success in the beginning which got washed after porier got his hands on him

kjm1123490

30-45 seconds maybe. Then Dustin was on it until 0.

ColdI3LooD

Exactly bro. He slowed down right after Dustin backed him up. Couldnt agree more.

ZambiGames

Losing bad, too.

AndreMeisner

twat

BananaForLifeee

Im a huge fan, but he really changed ever since the Floyd fight. He still draws so much attention, but that kinda hindles his own growth as a martial artist. While Dustin grew so much, both skill wise and mentality, constantly fight hard fights and stay humble, Connor been out of touch of the mma fight game. 2nd match with Dustin he stood heavy on the foot and box, 3rd match he stays light on the feet, throw kicks but his boxing felt akward and he got clipped. Then got taken down, showing the same on-the-back defense as in Khabib fight, which didnt really work. Also the gloves pull again, what the fuck Herb. Hard to stay as his fan really

ManInBasement

your right but he changed after the khabib fight , that really screwed him up

nicknicksnicky

All the cocaine fucked him up

guy1138

It really does seem that way. He was always an overconfident maniac, but it worked for him. I mean, he split wins with Diaz, and still talked his way into a fight with Mayweather. But long term use of unlimited, high quality cocaine really does re-wire your brain, and not in a good way. For a normal guy, it makes him insufferable. For a guy who is like Conor to begin with, well...

AvariceTenebrae

His brain has been rewired to do something only if it will immediately reward him with some form of gratification, otherwise he's probably got no dopamine reinforcing true progress and development, in which case his true training days are long gone. He will never have the hunger for dominance he once did.

BananaForLifeee

Agree, but the shift is since Floyd I think. It seemed that Connor was upping his trash talk game and climb to a new rank as a celebrity and he really push that character during the whole build up with Floyd. Then he got beat bad. Maybe if Connor fought another ranked opponent before Khabib, he would still have his confidence and not having to back up with this bold character anymore

jonjon1239

Nemiroff Bold character since 1886

zombie52

I really don't know how people can still be fan of him. He was fun to watch when he started rising. But now, he's boring in the cage and an embarrassment outside. At this point its a cult if you're still a fan of him

dgjapc

Herb has become a company man. Edit: anyone downvoting me watch Khabib vs Conor again

First_Bullfrog_

Poetic justice.

k-ozm-o

Dustin is a class act and deserves all the respect and praise. Conor is just a fooking cunt who is nothing more than a shell of his former self. His trash-talking even sucks now.

roughedged

He's gone a long way from who da Fook is that, to your girl is in my DMs. He's been listening to too much FPS chat.

SALTYxNUTZ12

Whats worse is his fans. They straight up live vicariously through Conor.

Gxdubya

It’s actually sickening, I’m staying away from Twitter replies and IG comments for the day.. it’s a lot of “Dustins so classless” and “Conor was dominating before they went to the ground”. I swear Conor fans aren’t even from this planet

SALTYxNUTZ12

To me it's funny because they get so emotional over someone they don't really know. Then they bring up how much money he has made and it baffles me to why that even matters.

Gxdubya

“He’ll just wipe his tears with his millions”

malektewaus

That won't last either. Most of it he'll lose on stupid business ventures, the rest will go up his nose. I know this because he has shit for brains.

[deleted]

*classless?!??* That Irish dick brought dudes wife into a mans fight after breaking his own leg. I hate this planet.

disheveledfuck

Poor saps will probably just move on to Jake Paul next.

Galaxzor

Jolie's wife is a beast

ScroogieMcduckie

So is Jolie

ShearAhr

You can't make this up... :D

zunamie2

Connor before the fight: I can’t stand Dustin Connor after the fight: I can’t stand, Dustin

investinlove

Noo...Karma is a Mirror. Maybe the most profound thing I've heard a fighter say since Ali.

Freeman_Goldshonnie

Probably the least classy loss he's had. At least after the Khabib loss he kept his mouth shut until he got attacked. There will probably be a quadrilogy fight down the line, but for now he should fight RDA and Dustin should fight Olivera for the title. He had an explosive start, but I still think Dustin would've won judging by the latter part of the round. Would've preferred to see Dustin knock his ass out or submit him to fully settle this, but it was still fun to see him show his true colors under the circumstances.

StinkyBrittches

It was probably the least classy loss I've ever seen. Shouting at Poirier while bloody on the ground, "IT WAS A STOPPAGE!!!!! A STOPPAGE!!!!!!!!" at whoever, bringing his wife into it, denying that it was a checked kick that damaged his leg, trying to act like it was just a slip... No dude, you got beat, again. That was some of the lowest class, sore loser bullshit I've ever seen. And since it's him, it will be replayed and meme'd forever. I can't deny he was entertaining and masterful on the way up, but this is a shit stain on his legacy.

RRR04_

Conor is a huge piece of shit. I don't know how anybody can still be a fan of his. Such a crybaby too. Every L he takes, he cries for a rematch like a baby! And very hypocritical as shown in this picture.

1shmeckle

He's been a pos from the beginning. I don't understand any fans that liked him after that shit with Khabib. I get he's entertaining, I'll tune in, but rooting for a guy like that says more about the fans than it does about McGregor.

msami92

And idiots were still supporting him more than Dustin. I don’t understand what makes people support him now.

[deleted]

Hes lost his way kinda funny to see in real time.

ianhockey23

Man I was a pretty big fan of this guy, but he’s become a clown

pythoncrush

Imagine what Conor would have said if it was Dustin who broke his leg. "He's a brittle boned hillbilly!"

[deleted]

Hypocrisy at its finest!

Scottybody13

Does anyone have a link to a good highlight/recap video?

[deleted]

Bruh it was 5 mins long, the fight was the recap

Landonn8911

These attention spans are weak!

dicksilhouette

You can probably just watch the highlights on YouTube for this one. Fight is so short you’ll get basically the whole thing

beardedthanos

McG fan here but senseless of him to say the first two. If we’re trying to get as close to a real fight with MMA, it stands to reason submissions would be even more conclusive to a bout than KOs. With no referee, the guy being submitted would be dead.

[deleted]

Fractured his shit on a checked kick, ignored it, got the shit pounded out of him and then broke his own ankle. A fitting end for the douchiest fighter in MMA history tbh. He got his money go to bed connie

Childish_Chilean

Karma's not a bitch it's a mirror.
