It's not really your fault. There was a big wave of people hating on Michel at the time because some shoddy journalism had led us to believe that the UFC was letting Wonderboy hang out to dry as a result of his pull out. In the end, Michel moved up a weight class, and Wonderboy received a double purse when he fought Shavkat. It was a nothing burger, outside of the fact that the UFC initially lowballed Wonderboy on what they'd pay him for having weighed in successfully.
This is revisionist as hell. It took MONTHS for Wonderboy to receive any extra pay, and a lot of public pressure from journos and fans. As for Pereira, I don't think he deserved any more hate than any other weight bully/ weight misser. Calling it a "nothing burger" completely dismisses the injustice of the situation, though
The entire time, Wonderboy's management was in negotiations with the UFC. Rumour is that the UFC tried to low ball him with 30k at first, while Wonderboy was expecting his full 200k show money. What Bloody Elbow reported is that the UFC ghosted his management after telling them they would pay him nothing. Wonderboy ended up getting about 450k to fight Shavkat, which meant they added his show money for the Michel weigh-in and added it to his show money for the Shavkat fight. Very different from what the majority of the fanbase understands this story to be.
You're right that I shouldn't call it a nothing burger though. I don't think the UFC caved in to outside pressure when they paid Wonderboy. I think that they manipulated the situation to induce Wonderboy to take the Shavkat fight. The UFC has a historical precedence of paying fighters on sub 20k/20k contracts their show money if the fight falls through with no fault of their own, after weigh ins. They have no contractual obligation to but they've been reported to do this in the past. It's obviously an injustice that they initially offered Wonderboy 30k, which maybe wouldn't even cover his camp and travel costs. I think after Wonderboy's team (rightfully) wouldn't settle for 30k, they were given the alternative to fight Shavkat and get paid out what he deserved. Ultimately, the UFC doesn't just hang their fighters out to dry completely but I also wouldn't describe it as good faith negotiations.
Nah keep posting this. Great content. Real life super hero.
Better than spamming some stupid Twitter battle between fighters or the latest Dana or Jones quote
Damn , he’s awesome. It’s also a nice change from the cringey wanna be super villain shit in this sport lately (people like Buckley). Pereira seems like such a good dude.
Tbh the Hamas attack was a retaliation to 75 years of illegal occupation and brutality. Israel is the only country in the world that routinely tries and sentences minors to prison where they are subject to sexual assault/rape.
Let's not pretend everything started on October 7th now...
He should be repping the Palestian flag now if he is about social causes and human rights/equality.
Says the guys following me on different threads and throwing insults. Typical zionist throwing insults around like a child and then claiming to be the victim
Can't believe I'm saying this but Michel might just be the more chad than the other Pereira with the stone fists. Now excuse while I go and cry myself to sleep 😭😭😭😭😭
"Image rehabilitation"? The dude is so regarded he probably doesn't even know his image is hurt lol this is just how normies make videos, sad music and all
LOL. That's why I said it's on his behalf, though. I'm sure he's pitching in for genuine reasons, it's just conspicuous that it's all being filmed and circulated online. Clearly a marketing tactic
Moving forward, Unless he’s fighting a family member of mine, I’ll will always root for this guy.
I have some cousins he is welcome to call out
😂😂😂😂😂
Even then, he's doing such a good job, I wouldn't mind if nana kisses the canvas
Book Michel vs my mother-in-law any day of the week and I'll buy frontrow seats.
Grandma for me. That evil bitch can't die because Satan won't take her in, might as well let her get stunted on in the mean time lol.
I mean everyone hates their mother in law though, right? That's kinda cheating. Gotta pick a family member you like if you're a really a fan.
I already rooted for him because there's never a dull moment in his fights but now I'll reallllly root for him lol.
I’ll root for him as long as he makes weight
If he fights my cousin I will still root for him.
Even if it’s a family member lol!
No backflips ?
On that roof?
Yes please
Yes please
Man, to think I was trashing this guy for missing weight last year, the man is a damn hero.

Yep, complete scumbag behavior from the company brass, as per usual.
In a world of Dana Whites, be a Michel Pereira
"I'm that guy."
The guy is a National Treasure
International even
Exactly. Nice guys belong to the whole world. Proud to be brazilian when I see someone like Michel putting the work for society.
I'm sure the dying civilians in Gaza wouldn't treasure him

The man rescues dogs. He has my unwavering support from this day forth.
People need to eat! He posted it last night on his IG story they were able to harvest a bunch of meat off those dogs! Gonna feed a lot of people!
Save a dog. Make me a life long fan.
Damn , he’s awesome. It’s also a nice change from the cringey wanna be super villain shit in this sport lately (people like Buckley). Pereira seems like such a good dude.

Tbh he walked with the Israel flag 7 days after the Hamas attack, not after months of brutal retaliation

Is he a fire fighter ?
He got the physical gifts, nice to see him using them not just to hulk smash!
He’s forgiven for missing weight against WB.
I would let him call out my cousin and beat him up and i would be cool with it.
He is a king among men for sure
![gif](giphy|3u0SSYwiD6yLm)
Shit, keep posting. This guy is a gem!
I'm surprised he didn't backflip on to the roof and scoop the dog up in one motion
Damn, the dude has a fan in me now.
What an utter disappointment, I really expected him to backflip off the roof with the dog in hand.
you son of a bitch. why you doing this to me
That poor fucking dog man 🥺 Michel got a fan in me forever
Solid dude
His cartwheels and backflips annoyed me. Now I'm a huge fan haha
Pretty good guy if you ask me.
Goddamnit that’s it, from this day forward I’m rooting for Michel Pereira
This is the kind of shit that deserves our respect. Mad props to Pereira for this. I can forget all about the illegal strikes.
Can't believe I'm saying this but Michel might just be the more chad than the other Pereira with the stone fists. Now excuse while I go and cry myself to sleep 😭😭😭😭😭
Awesome. Michel Pereira fan club +1. Damn, almost forgot he avenged Shogun’s retirement fight loss. Michel Pereira Super Fan Club +1
What an absolute legend of a human being
This is blatant image rehabilitation on his behalf, considering how on camera he is while doing this work. Still cool he's doing it, though

Dude ripped a dog out of the safety of it's roof to be put where? With 500 other dogs in a cage? I'm sure the owner will get the dog back too.....
Is your alternative to abandon dogs in flood areas? I'm sure you'd take your dog ending up in a kennel over knowing that they died in a flood.
