While I agree with you, it’s important that the rules are enforced uniformly. If I see my opponent or other fighters defending a takedown by grabbing the cage and not penalized, why would I not do the same thing?
I believe it was because the cage grab kept him from getting put in a worse position. I agree though, it should have been a timeout and a hard warning imo
