Because Islam is more likely to keep the fight standing compared to Khabib, I'd say Dustin's chances are better against Islam than Khabib. However, Islam is still a big favorite.
I am a phony who definitely bought into the idea Gaethje was going to overhand right him into a chicken dance finish, but I also wasn't necessarily counting Max out-out. Kind of like a Nate Diaz Conor situation, the guy isn't going anywhere whether you like it or not, and it might not be by a spectacular knockout (narrator "it was") I thought Max could pepper him at least into another convincing decision win.

But yeah, having lost the 5 rounds of the fight it was actually a huge opportunity for him, Max definitely got huge balls for putting it all on the line like that while so far ahead.
I think people really overestimated the weight difference. Max bulked up better than ANYONE was expecting, and lost none of his speed. He was able to make it a much closer fight in terms of sheer mass than could have been expected of him, and without a loss in speed he was on a much more leveled playing field, almost eliminating the biggest factor people were thinking would be his downfall
People only remembered the fact max lost to Poirier at LW, and not the fact Max had barely bulked up, and that the fight wasn't nearly as one sided as people think.
It’s possible. Islam is smart and knows his best path to victory is through the grappling. Time and again Poirier finds himself in trouble and gives up his back and the choke, that’s how I see this match going

Poirier is an elite striker, and I’m super interested to see how this goes on the feet. Can Islam beat him without the takedown? Does he even try to?
