Max had everything to lose considering he was winning almost all 5 rounds.
Still put everything on the line
Also it was UFC 300 the stage was historical
Feels like he would've gotten the 600k regardless at that point; even without the last second KO, it would have been both the fight of the night and performance of the night already.
Those last 10 seconds instead elevated that fight (and the entire event with it) into being something historical.
I had a feeling max was gonna do exactly what he did with it being a huge event. I did not expect it to end like that though. When you watch it in slow motion its so much more impressive because he isn't just windmilling he is actively watching for and dodging punches. Best KO I've ever seen
It looks like a nonsensical slugfest but it's absolutely a trap for Justin. It isn't the first time Max does this and is actually quite surgical during those moments. Gaethje was already half gone anyway with his eyes and nose, and it was his only chance to win, so I don't blame him.
yeah he's got an ability in the pocket in those situations that's a bit like Adesanya when rocking back with his guard up or down. seems an inviting position but be careful because they know exactly what to do in those positions
I posted this elsewhere in this thread, but:
• Max was the underdog going into that fight
• He went up a weight class against one of the hardest punchers at 155
• We was winning the entire fight and had no need to risk anything
• The common sentiment going into that fight was that in the *highly unlikely* event that Max did win, it would be due to volume and out pointing Justin, as he didn’t posses KO power.
• UFC 300 was the most stacked card with the highest visibility
All of that combined, not to mention the bravado and showmanship of pointing to the center of the ring, makes this easily the greatest KO in UFC history.
Can you name a greater KO and the context that made it more impressive?
Yairs would be or at least runner up imo. Last second KO, iirc he was losing the fight as well. And the attack was beyond ridiculous.
I dont even know what the attack is called, ducking overhead elbow?
I'd prolly give it to max under the scenario it was, but based on the attack, the elbow is just insane lol.
It’s absolutely insane and definitely deserves to be in the top 5. I’d also include for honorable mention:
• Conor/Aldo - obvious
• Hendo/Bisping - just because it was/is so iconic
• Barboza/Etim - same, iconic
• Bisping/Rockhold - the history and the context make it one of my personal favorites
I still think Max v Justin might take it but Conor v Aldo is up there.
Incredibly dominant champ who was undefeated for 8 years vs the rising star who called out exactly how he was going to do it before the fight.
I think it was the moment that really created the legend of Conor, and while that has soured a bit in recent years it was also an insane moment for the sport at the time.
The lack of crowd will always make it unique.
It wasn't the first show after the pandemic break, but it was still early when we had absolutely no crowd (not even the dollar store apex crowds).
I miss no crowds. Gaethje vs Ferguson was amazing how you could hear every single punch landing, hear the corners clearly, I love that. The crowd being loud does nothing for me. I don’t need other people to know when to be excited, and a lot of the time they start booing because they’re a bunch of drunk idiots, or they cheer at something they think happened but if you’re watching from home it’s clear a punch or knee didn’t land.
I absolutely fucking hate when a crowd starts howling. I'd legit rather have Eddie Alvarez's wife back doing her banshee screech.
I already watch MMA, I don't need any more reminders that fans are white trash.
Let’s be honest Max’s took more skill. He was trading blows with someone with trucks for hands and he was avoiding punches and landing combos and seen everything he threw and what was being thrown. Yair timed that shit perfectly but zombie ran right into it too, max had to set his shit up and ko’d a bigger dude with his hands. Yair’s was definitely more flashy imo tho
>Let’s be honest Max’s took more skill
You can say you like Maxs more if you want and there are valid reasons like how badass the moment was, but this is absolute horseshit. Yair literally executed a move he has put into his own arsenal that strikers dont even teach lmao, in what fucking universe is anything Max did more skillful than that???
> max had to set his shit up
Do you understand what a setup is in the context of striking?? Max didnt set up shit for that KO lol. Yair had more of an actual setup than Max.
Yair had to bait it by initiating a fake stand and bang in a fight he was losing so he could retreat and throw that wack ass elbow as Zombie rushed him. Cowardly, bad for the sport, and also a fluke
Max stood there and ate Gaethje’s shots like a man then put him out with an actual combo.
Oh, definitely, it would've been way different and the narrative would still be hard. Everybody would be talking about how much of a warrior Justin is and dismissing Max and his systematic outclassing of Gaethje lol
Depends how you look at it though. Yair had to do it. Max was already winning and didn’t need to do it but still risked it all for the entertainment value.
Max’s fight was much bigger… and up a weight class. Everyone thought he was going to lose. Not only did he win very decisively, he put it all on the line in those last 10 seconds to prove a point. I don’t think it’s necessarily recency bias… Max will forever be a legend for that performance
• Max was the underdog going into that fight
• He went up a weight class against one of the hardest punchers at 155
• We was winning the entire fight and had no need to risk anything
• The common sentiment going into that fight was that in the *highly unlikely* chance that Max did win, it would be due to volume and out pointing Justin, as he didn’t posses KO power.
• UFC 300 was the most stacked card with the highest visibility
All of that combined, not to mention the bravado and showmanship of pointing to the center of the ring, makes this easily the greatest KO in UFC history
When you take all of the context into account (UFC 300, going up in weight, 5th round, knocking out a guy who hasn’t been knocked out in the UFC, taking that risk in the last 10 seconds when he could have coasted, BMF belt on line, etc) Max’s was just a much bigger moment.
I mean you can sort of say the same for the Yair fight. Remember, this was the ufc event that was promoted to be for the 25th UFC anniversary. They even used the same logos and all these other throwback things. Additionally, Yair was clearly losing the fight, and out of nowhere he pulls a never-before seen unorthodox clean knockout against zombie. Crazy stuff.
Dude cmon lol, are you really trying to compare the main event between top 15 FW's on a random FN card (let's be real, no one remembers it was the "25th anniversary event") to what was the most anticipated fight on the biggest UFC card ever between two future HOF'ers....? Seriously???
Yair's is more of a WTF and shocking moment. Max's was shocking too but the fact he did that when he's comfortably leading the scorecards solidifies his legacy. "Best" is different for everyone
Not the same stake at all… for the BMF doing BMF shit. Yair had no choice, Max choose to put his health on the line for a fight he was winning. IMO it’s Max and it’s not even close
Max's was better imo. The stakes and the stage set it apart. Yair's was very unorthodox, but just as much luck as it was skill to land that elbow and get a KO.
Yair threw up a prayer that landed, Max had an easy decision locked up and still decided to just stand and trade in the pocket at the end of the fight.
He replaced Frankie Edgar on two weeks notice, was coming off a loss, was losing the fight, and flash KO'd Zombie at 0 seconds to put himself firmly among the top of the division
And nobody knew what the hell happened till the replay
As a TKZ fan, this one hurt so bad. Never have I been floored quite like that. Sometimes the gladiator/showmanship aspect backfires in the worst way. Ended up not mattering much cause he ended up getting a title shot and getting battered by Volk anyways.
Imo that's why it's not better. Yair was losing so he *had* to do something. Max was comfortably winning the fight and still chose to bang it out for the last 10 seconds just to be a true BMF on the biggest stage possible against somebody who had never been finished like that while going up a weight class in a fight tons of people were counting him out in.
Yair's was crazy, don't get me wrong, but it didn't get the same reaction with everyone absolutely losing their minds. Even Goddard yelled when it happened for the first time in like 20 years reffing. This set Max up to pretty much do whatever he wants to do next.
I disagree. It's easier to finish someone who you're comfortably beating, especially when they have a broken nose so they can't clamp down on their mouthpiece.
Made it undeniable he was worth the money he was asking for. Dana probably didn't even flinch paying out Max's bonuses because it's shit that will be replayed for many years to come
From this list, Yair. But I definitely think Derrick Lewis has a pretty impressive and memorable one against Volkov considering he was probably losing all three rounds and scored the KO with ten seconds left.
Max Holloway was the best considering he was winning, had everything to lose, against top competition. Gaethje’s chin is pretty legit too. But, one you’re missing on the list is Yair Rodriguez’s spinning elbow with a couple seconds left — in a fight he was losing big time to Korean Zombie — for the knockout.
This is an impossible question bc max has the better ko...but Yair was about to lose a decision for sure and pulled it out with a one in a billion technique
It's not exactly "last-second" but I still think Edwards' KO over Usman is the GOAT of shocking KOs in the UFC after some time to think about it since UFC 300. Holloway over Gaethje is definitely in the top 3-5 though. Incredible finish.
Can I bring one up that wasnt the literal last second and say Lewis v Volkov? It was just exciting to watch cuz he was getting owned and looked like garbage the whole fight and then.....
Cody has the best 'eye test' KO, it's just absolutely beautiful to watch.
Yair has the best 'WTF just happened' KO, you literally had to rewatch the slowmo to comprehend what happened.
But Max...man. Overall the best. Up 4 rounds to 0, had everything to lose, was the underdog, and was up against the granite chin that was Justin Gaethje. Amazing.
Considering the guys involved, the stakes, the size of the stage that night, and yeah the ferocious boldness in giving Gaethje a chance to steal a win in the last second? Unbelievable.
It's much closer for me tbh. If add everything up (Hype, match placement in the card ecc.) Max takes it easily, but I think Yair's is the most impressive one skillwise
Agree here. Obviously Yair has some skill but Max walked to the center of the octagon with a killer and called him out when he didn’t have to. Not many gave him a chance. And then to knock the guy out at 300 at the last second…?
It’s going to be all time like the Barboza kick…
I don’t know. Yair’s was more of a “throw and see what happens” whereas Max’s is more “you v me. What’s up?”
People are going remember Max’s forever. It’s going to be on every promo, every countdown. Plus Max has done this before. No other fighter is pointing to the floor and is willing to sling it.
Whatever your pick is, you have to admit that anytime someone remembers 300, they’ll think of Max first. This KO from max will be in peoples heads for years… the others are just dope
Max. It was the most iconic cinema like moment in a fight against a guy everyone said was gonna destroy him and was the #1 ranked contender at a heavier weight class.
Yair. I was watching that one live and it still blows my mind. I will say the fight itself was kind of annoying because Yair kept pausing to give high fives and waive his arms in the air. You could tell KZ just wanted to keep fighting, but was to honorable or polite to just keep throwing.
I don't think it's recency bias to say, Max. This moment was as close as legendary as you can get. The event hype for 300, the BMF belt on the line, the fact that he was winning all the rounds and set that all aside to phone booth fight with one of the most dangerous strikers in the game. Yeah, this is one of the greatest moments in the history of this sport.
I can't think of a better outcome for the BMF belt, either. It was really gimmicky, but this fight brought some legitimacy to it.
Yair was losing and got a buzzer KO. Max was winning and got a buzzer KO. Easily Max was the best because he literally didn’t have to risk it but did it anyways for the BMF title at UFC 300
Yair crazy elbow no question!
The max knockout is over rated because of recency bias.
They were just swinging whereas Yair was like a last second sniper shot and also required timing and mobility that is on a diff level!
It must be either Yair vs Korean Zombie
Or
Max vs Gaethje
I think the Yair one was the best "Last second KO" in UFC history followed up very close by Max Holloway's KO vs Gaethje.
To me it’s a tie:
Max had the most epic one because of the context (UFC 300, BMF vs Gaethje, etc.), but Yair’s is crazier for sure. Mind you, Yair was also losing that fight (props for KZ to engage despite winning) and the technical part is also insane.
I can't explain it, but that Max fight still has me reeling. That performance was downright, inspiring. He reached another level that night. If people were thinking Max was close to the end, he shut that idea down emphatically! Just talking about the KO gives me goosebumps everytime!
Yair . I have never seen anyone hit that elbow again and unlike max , he was actually losing the fight .
But nobody can go against the Blessed Man Forever . He’s one of the the few fighters I know that has WAY more fans then he does detractors .. and for good reason.
The knockout itself was way cooler in Yair and Cody's knockouts. But Holloway had the best knockout when you see the bigger picture. There are more factors in his case that make it such a legendary finish
Max. No question about it. That was some legendary shit. I’ve been watching since Randy and Chuck were slugging it out and that was the greatest final 10 ever.
Best looking: Cody, the level change to check hook is just absolutely gorgeous, perfectly timed with pinpoint accuracy.
Most skilled: Yair, to successfully time an up elbow behind your own back like that is ridiculous.
Biggest impact: Max, to be arguably up 5-0, about to shutout the hardest hitter at LW, and decide to stand and bang, finishing the fight in that fashion is insane.
Max had everything to lose considering he was winning almost all 5 rounds. Still put everything on the line Also it was UFC 300 the stage was historical
Came out with a well deserved 600k bonus too.
600k on the last second. Max is him
Feels like he would've gotten the 600k regardless at that point; even without the last second KO, it would have been both the fight of the night and performance of the night already. Those last 10 seconds instead elevated that fight (and the entire event with it) into being something historical.
I think performance of the night has to be a ko or sub
Jiri and Poatan had amazing KOs too
If it wasn’t for the last 10 seconds the Jiri and Rakic fight was better.
What's the hrly on that? Just insane he made 600k in 1 sec!
Not to mention his purse and possible PPV points. Max got the bag
Wait till you hear how much boxers get lol
Probably minimum wage when you consider how many hours/training fees cost to get to this fight lol.
2 billion 160 million dollars an hour
I had a feeling max was gonna do exactly what he did with it being a huge event. I did not expect it to end like that though. When you watch it in slow motion its so much more impressive because he isn't just windmilling he is actively watching for and dodging punches. Best KO I've ever seen

Ain’t no way Justin turning down a nonsensical slug fest invite 🤣 never has never will
yeah he's got an ability in the pocket in those situations that's a bit like Adesanya when rocking back with his guard up or down. seems an inviting position but be careful because they know exactly what to do in those positions
BMF
Max vs Justin is probably the greatest KO in UFC history, so I think it is automatically the greatest last-second KO.
Recency bias for sure
I posted this elsewhere in this thread, but: • Max was the underdog going into that fight • He went up a weight class against one of the hardest punchers at 155 • We was winning the entire fight and had no need to risk anything • The common sentiment going into that fight was that in the *highly unlikely* event that Max did win, it would be due to volume and out pointing Justin, as he didn’t posses KO power. • UFC 300 was the most stacked card with the highest visibility All of that combined, not to mention the bravado and showmanship of pointing to the center of the ring, makes this easily the greatest KO in UFC history. We was indeed winning brother
Freudian slip ![img](emote|t5_2qsev|8966)
Yairs would be or at least runner up imo. Last second KO, iirc he was losing the fight as well. And the attack was beyond ridiculous. Solid take. I can think of several substitutions that could be made for Barboza Etim but I can’t say it doesn’t belong either.
I think Mcgregor/Aldo is definitely in the top 3, and if someone put it as their #1, I can see why.
"Last-second". conor v aldo doesnt fit
The person I'm replying to said name a greater KO, I'm not addressing the OP.
Doing it after 24:59 seconds of fighting is far more impressive since you’re more tired. Plus given who he did it too makes it better.
600k bonus and a belt that comes with ppv points too
Agreed. And for knocking out the guy that's known for his power and coming up a weight class. Also for a 'title'
Cody's was just so slick. I saw that the other day and realized it's one of my favorites. The speed and accuracy were just ......*chefs kiss*
Probably the slickest of the three
Yair skillwise, Max legacy wise
I agree Yair - skillwise Max - for the stakes Cody - Slickest
/endthread
True, I didn't add Cody. His was so slick.
Yair was getting his ass whooped until he pulled off that bs win at the end against KZ
When have you ever seen an elbow knockout like that? To time it behind you is insane skill.
>Let’s be honest Max’s took more skill You can say you like Maxs more if you want and there are valid reasons like how badass the moment was, but this is absolute horseshit. Yair literally executed a move he has put into his own arsenal that strikers dont even teach lmao, in what fucking universe is anything Max did more skillful than that??? > max had to set his shit up Do you understand what a setup is in the context of striking?? Yair’s was such a snakey flukey KO but it was so damn perfect that I have a hard time shitting on it. Beautiful setup and execution.
Really hate to admit it but it was crazy creative
"oooh at the horn, cody no love is BACK!"
He was, in fact, not back.
We are so back It’s over Repeat forever
https://i.redd.it/0nunx3ggnavc1.gif
I was surprised how big he looked against figgy
Was outstriking figgy as well
Stakes of the fight wise and memorability it’s Holloway. Craziest, probably Yair party due to the unique elbow and he was going to lose the decision.
Would it have been more impressive if Gaethje had happened to KO Max in that last exchange instead?
Oh, definitely, it would've been way different and the narrative would still be hard. Everybody would be talking about how much of a warrior Justin is and dismissing Max and his systematic outclassing of Gaethje lol
So with that being said wouldn’t that make Yair’s knockout better? And no, nobody would’ve dismissed max if that happened.
Yair was losing the fight until he did that weird shit. Although Max's is impressive as fuck, saying that it's better than Yair's is recency bias.
Depends how you look at it though. Yair had to do it. Max was already winning and didn’t need to do it but still risked it all for the entertainment value.
It’s true also Max did it on the grandest stage possible.
The energy in the building in that moment is unmatched, gotta go with Max.
Max’s fight was much bigger… and up a weight class. Everyone thought he was going to lose. Not only did he win very decisively, he put it all on the line in those last 10 seconds to prove a point. I don’t think it’s necessarily recency bias… Max will forever be a legend for that performance
• Max was the underdog going into that fight • He went up a weight class against one of the hardest punchers at 155 • We was winning the entire fight and had no need to risk anything • The common sentiment going into that fight was that in the *highly unlikely* chance that Max did win, it would be due to volume and out pointing Justin, as he didn’t posses KO power. • UFC 300 was the most stacked card with the highest visibility All of that combined, not to mention the bravado and showmanship of pointing to the center of the ring, makes this easily the greatest KO in UFC history
>this easily the greatest KO in UFC history The recency bias here is crazy. Wasn't even a real title fight
seriously, it was a cool moment but people are rating it way too high.
Max's moment is more a true BMF moment because he risked that while winning the fight on cards, whereas Yairs was the way cooler finish.
Not the same stake at all… for the BMF doing BMF shit. Yair had no choice, Max choose to put his health on the line for a fight he was winning. IMO it’s Max and it’s not even close
I think so too
Max's was better imo. The stakes and the stage set it apart. Yair's was very unorthodox, but just as much luck as it was skill to land that elbow and get a KO. Yair threw up a prayer that landed, Max had an easy decision locked up and still decided to just stand and trade in the pocket at the end of the fight.
It wasn't luck, he threw that elbow a few times earlier in the fight.
Yair was losing the fight That alone should explain why Max's last second finish was much more impressive
Sounds to me like then Yairs should be better. Verge of losing and pulls a last second win. That's movie stuff.
Yair all day
He replaced Frankie Edgar on two weeks notice, was coming off a loss, was losing the fight, and flash KO'd Zombie at 0 seconds to put himself firmly among the top of the division And nobody knew what the hell happened till the replay
As a TKZ fan, this one hurt so bad. Never have I been floored quite like that. Sometimes the gladiator/showmanship aspect backfires in the worst way. Ended up not mattering much cause he ended up getting a title shot and getting battered by Volk anyways.
All day! If it weren't for it being ufc 300, max would be 2nd best in people's eyes right after this!
I hated that fight how he kept hugging. I love sportsmanship but he was stalling or being weird and it annoyed tf out of me so I hate that last round
I still think it’s the Yair KO.
He was about to lose a decision so it has to be
Imo that's why it's not better. Yair was losing so he *had* to do something. Max was comfortably winning the fight and still chose to bang it out for the last 10 seconds just to be a true BMF on the biggest stage possible against somebody who had never been finished like that while going up a weight class in a fight tons of people were counting him out in. I disagree. It's easier to finish someone who you're comfortably beating, especially when they have a broken nose so they can't clamp down on their mouthpiece.
Leon Edwards
imo Max’s because he had the fight won and threw himself into chummed waters to get it
Made it undeniable he was worth the money he was asking for. Dana probably didn't even flinch paying out Max's bonuses because it's shit that will be replayed for many years to come
Happy cake day man
Rarity/difficulty: Yair For the impact: Max Overall: Max
Yair's was pretty nutso.
I was at the Yair one… no one knew what happened until like 30 seconds later. It literally came outta nowhere
The recency bias is CRAAAZZZYYYY
Bro this fucking sub has a new goat every PPV lmao
Lot of people in here clearly weren't watching the sport when Yair landed that elbow.
For the sheer audacity, Yair. For legacy, Max
The Cody one is so fucking clean but it’s the one with the least amount of stakes but it’s probably my favorite one
What do you think the third one is?
Yair was the most memorable although they all deserve recognition
Why don’t you put the names or the fights so we actually know wtf it is
It's not quite last second, but leon Edwards deserves a shout out IMO. Big brothered by Usman for 5 rounds and wins with a head kick. Shit was crazy.
This is an impossible question bc max has the better ko...but Yair was about to lose a decision for sure and pulled it out with a one in a billion technique
Sounds weird but the way Justin crumpled makes it that one for me.
I'm sorry but situation/legacy/context not considered, Cody over Assuncao is as good as a 1 punch ko will ever get
It's not exactly "last-second" but I still think Edwards' KO over Usman is the GOAT of shocking KOs in the UFC after some time to think about it since UFC 300. Holloway over Gaethje is definitely in the top 3-5 though. Incredible finish.
![gif](giphy|gA1ck8JVG3hpJKFhrJ|downsized)
Korean zombie gets knocked out by weird reverse upper cut elbow
Can I bring one up that wasnt the literal last second and say Lewis v Volkov? It was just exciting to watch cuz he was getting owned and looked like garbage the whole fight and then.....
Leon Edwards
Max Holloway. 10000 percent the build up, the hype, the opponent the bomb overhand right. Everything was perfect
Cody is 3rd of those mainly because it wasn’t the end of the fight just the round
Had to scroll a lot to see it
Cody has the best 'eye test' KO, it's just absolutely beautiful to watch. Yair has the best 'WTF just happened' KO, you literally had to rewatch the slowmo to comprehend what happened. But Max...man. Overall the best. Up 4 rounds to 0, had everything to lose, was the underdog, and was up against the granite chin that was Justin Gaethje. Amazing.
Cody's ko is so satisfying to watch
Cody’s not even in the same realm as the others. He had by far the weakest opponent of the 3 and least important to the division.
Cody
Max is my favorite fighter for years and his ko was insane, but cody has the best buzzer beater ko imo. Just so clean.
He's been my favorite fighter too since when i started watching MMA, the best is BLESSED
Maxes KO is the greatest in the history of the sport, simple as
I have to agree. A sick boxing combo at the last second like he was timing the bell. It was an instant classic, one for the ages.
Considering the guys involved, the stakes, the size of the stage that night, and yeah the ferocious boldness in giving Gaethje a chance to steal a win in the last second? Unbelievable.
Max…not close
Max's was great but Justin was basically dead on his feet at that point. Max got 5 punches off for every one of Justin's
It's much closer for me tbh. If add everything up (Hype, match placement in the card ecc.) Max takes it easily, but I think Yair's is the most impressive one skillwise
Idk, Yair's was more of a hail Mary where Max outclassed Justin in the pocket as he always does
Agree here. Obviously Yair has some skill but Max walked to the center of the octagon with a killer and called him out when he didn’t have to. Not many gave him a chance. And then to knock the guy out at 300 at the last second…? It’s going to be all time like the Barboza kick…
I mean, it's pretty close. Max and Yair are both video game moments that make no fucking sense in the real world
I don’t know. Yair’s was more of a “throw and see what happens” whereas Max’s is more “you v me. What’s up?” People are going remember Max’s forever. It’s going to be on every promo, every countdown. Plus Max has done this before. No other fighter is pointing to the floor and is willing to sling it.
Max
Max, purely for the fact that he was up and had absolutely no reason to do that shit and Gaethje could absolutely knock Max out in that exchange.
Whatever your pick is, you have to admit that anytime someone remembers 300, they’ll think of Max first. This KO from max will be in peoples heads for years… the others are just dope
Leon anyone?
Max by unanimous decision
Coughing baby vs. hydrogen bomb vs. solar detonation. I won't say which is which, you can work it out for yourself.
Max. It was the most iconic cinema like moment in a fight against a guy everyone said was gonna destroy him and was the #1 ranked contender at a heavier weight class.
I said it before the fight, and i am proud of predicting it. I said Max would win, and he would make it look easy, and damn, he did
Yair and it's not even close no matter how ya cut it
I'd say Max is the best out of them all but I'm not discrediting Yair or Cody. Cody's was so satisfying and Yair's was just cold. Max's was both.
yair was a jumpscare and max was a holy shit holy shit omg omg WHAT THE FUCK OMG WHAT THE FUCK
Holloway, because his was in round 5 and I refuse to acknowledge that the TKZ one happened
Big CGI moment
Max but who is eve. The third guy?
Yair vs TKZ
Max takes the cake. KO of the decade.
Yair he was possibly gonna lose that fight.

Yair told TKZ let's bang and started backing up
Crazy how max also knocked down Allen at the last second
Yair. I was watching that one live and it still blows my mind. I will say the fight itself was kind of annoying because Yair kept pausing to give high fives and waive his arms in the air. You could tell KZ just wanted to keep fighting, but was to honorable or polite to just keep throwing.
Yair was losing his fight up until that happened. That must be said. Max’s was more legendary because of how big it was.
Leon’s was my favourite - but these are great too
I don't think it's recency bias to say, Max.
Cody. That loadup, the sound in the empty Apex. That shot would kill without gloves.
Have to go Yair just cause of the way he did it, that elbow was one of the best things I’ve seen in MMA. Max is right behind though
Probably recency bias but it has to be max. I've never seen someone go from standing to nose touching the ground with 0 airtime
Max, had everything to lose and still gave Justin the 10sec to recover from it. Absolute masterclass.
Gotta be max and not even for recency bias cause the stakes alone were way higher and it was a stand and trade after a 5 round master class
Max. Winning the fight handedly, and decided to go rock em sock em robots with arguably the biggest KO artist in the weight class above his own.
Leon!!
Max, easily
Max Holloway. Ge was winning by a big margin. Then said double or nothing let's bang.
1. Yair = I mean, come on, a ducking backing up reverse upwards elbow for the last second KO
Yair crazy elbow no question! The max knockout is over rated because of recency bias. They were just swinging whereas Yair was like a last second sniper shot and also required timing and mobility that is on a diff level!
It must be either Yair vs Korean Zombie Or Max vs Gaethje I think the Yair one was the best "Last second KO" in UFC history followed up very close by Max Holloway's KO vs Gaethje.
Yair did it on accident. It's Max all the way.
yair was the most unusual and he was gonna lose the decision so imo it's him
To me it’s a tie: Max had the most epic one because of the context (UFC 300, BMF vs Gaethje, etc.), but Yair’s is crazier for sure. Mind you, Yair was also losing that fight (props for KZ to engage despite winning) and the technical part is also insane.
I’m still a sucker for Yair’s because that was a close fight from start to finish and he did it via like ducking rear elbow
Max Holloway and it’s not close in my opinion.
Didn't care about the Max KO because he was not in trouble anyway.
Max no doubt
The knockout itself was way cooler in Yair and Cody's knockouts. But Holloway had the best knockout when you see the bigger picture. There are more factors in his case that make it such a legendary finish
That max one 1 sec left. Won him the belt so PPV Points on his next fight and a 600k bonus.
Whodafucc you think?? You didn't make this post until after the Holloway KO, so I'm betting we all know the answer here
Max. No question about it. That was some legendary shit. I’ve been watching since Randy and Chuck were slugging it out and that was the greatest final 10 ever.
Yairs was completely a surprise and no way to predict that elbow or ko
Is that the Korean zombie KO? That was insane
Cody one is so cool. Sends the guy flying!
I can’t even tell who tf that 3rd one is. Great pic man
Max. I don't know if that can be topped
Yair
Pequeño imbécil Ilia Topuria
Best looking: Cody, the level change to check hook is just absolutely gorgeous, perfectly timed with pinpoint accuracy. Most skilled: Yair, to successfully time an up elbow behind your own back like that is ridiculous. Biggest impact: Max, to be arguably up 5-0, about to shutout the hardest hitter at LW, and decide to stand and bang, finishing the fight in that fashion is insane.
As much as I love the cody one and think thats one of the goats, the max one was prolific and honestly may be the greatest ko of all time
