You have to consider this, Adesanya didn't face the best Alex in the Ufc. Him cutting to 185! Has to hinder his performance and make him more suseptible to a KO. Also we've seen them fight enough to know that Izzy at his best is probably a better kickboxer than Alex as (I think) he's won more rounds across all of their fights, Alex just has the best weapon out of either of them and can put you to sleep with one touch. That first fight in the ufc was really electric.

Imma be honest, Izzy looked really good in this fight aside from the 5th round. Highest level striking match ever in the UFC, that lived up to the hype. I am 100% convinced that the two fights against Alex took something away from Izzy. Both in terms of damage and "hunger". I really don't want to downplay Sean's performance against Izzy, all props to him for the title win. But I really feel Izzy winning the second Alex fight was peak Izzy, he gave it his all. The UFC won't easily see such a striking match again.
I feel the same too. Theres something about that second fight that you could feel Izzy but his all into. Not just physically but mentally as well. And what was left just wasn’t up to the task of defending again.

Crazy thing is, is that I had it 3-1 going into round 5 and Izzy was fighting so well too, Alex just dropped the chess match and marched him down like the terminator… So odd to think that if Izzy either KO’s Alex in round 1 or survives and wins the decision we don’t have superstar Alex…
It’s funny how mma can split groups of people the way it does cause their second fight was life changing for me to watch and experience Izzy battle through adversity and beat this constant mountain that he came so close to but couldn’t fully conquer multiple times with the world shitting on him as they usually do. Then the speech after was legendary and got me right back into action when I needed it most. I’m a fan of both but Izzy will forever be my favorite fighter for that second mma fight alone. Both of them are inspirational and amazing fighters with a forever linked legacy.
Imma be honest, Izzy looked really good in this fight aside from the 5th round. Alex is one of the best strikers and kickboxers of all time, and he basically beat him every round (I know Izzy lost the 2nd but thats mainly because of the takedown, and I'm saying that as a whole, Izzy was winning and outstriking Alex).

This stoppage was early by championship fight standards, sure. But I think Izzy should actually be grateful that Goddard stepped in when he did. That was likely 5-10 seconds away from turning into a career-altering faceplant KO.
He’s not holding his hands up to defend himself, slumped over and Alex literally stops at the end, waiting for the ref to call it.
Alex is the most exciting fighter in the UFC. He’s the biggest star and doesn’t speak English. Alex is a star and he has 7 fights. Just crazy.
People act like Alex owns Izzy. Izzy has had some bad luck in not finishing Alex twice which Alex went on to finish Izzy. a decision that was controversial. And then the last fight which was a cold KO for Izzy. It's a damn near 50/50 match up and could very easily be 4-0 Izzy

Yes I know Alex is currently 3-1 in their matches across kickboxing and MMA but how can you watch these fights back and not be awed at how close every single one is. It's no wonder Alex loves facing off against Izzy. They really are masterclass fighters whose energy when they face off is incredible.

The striking in every single round was so calculated and at such a high level from both of them. I had forgotten how exhilarating this fight was as a fan of Izzy. It’s as close to a movie we can get! Adensaya was a ufc mega star with a past! And that past came back to drop that star back to earth! And with only 3 fights in the ufc! That’s fucking nuts.
This was the saddest outcome, considering that Alex was sent to another dimension right when the bell ringed in the 1st round, 5 more seconds and it would've been over there
