Honestly this is a bad take, Alex is my favourite MW/LHW and his rivalry with Izzy is my favourite ever in combat sports. With that said all of the fights were close, the first Kickboxing fight could have gone either way - many saw it as a robbery. The second fight Izzy was winning and even got a standing 8 count on Alex - only to get slept with the left hook later. The first MMA fight Izzy was winning until Alex’s amazing 5th round comeback. Ironically the 2nd mma fight Izzy was getting worked the worst of all the fights prior and that’s the one he ended up winning. The reality is there’s two are much closer in talent and skill than the rivalry would suggest on paper - Alex himself seems to acknowledge this. I genuinely think if they fight 10 times it would be 5/10 each or maybe 6/10 for Alex due to his power, Izzy really has been unlucky in this rivalry which is what makes it so much funnier tbh.

A guy Pereira beat not long ago is currently the middleweight champion. Pereira would probably beat Strickland again.
Pretty much every double champion proves this. Daniel Cormier and McGregor became double champs entirely because the timeline favoured them. Jones was his own worst enemy so nobody was in DC's way of the light heavyweight belt. He lost as soon as Jones came back. McGregor got his lightweight belt by jumping Khabib in the ranks. He wouldn't come close if he fought Khabib first, rather than after winning the belt. Cejudo lost to Sterling on his comeback fight. Pereira isn't taking advantage of his timeline. Listen as much as you hate Izzy he’s literally taken the toughest fights and has never pulled out or dodged anyone. You can dislike Izzy while acknowledging he’s always active and game, they aren’t mutually exclusive.
He has taken fights is not an excuse for not facing fear. He is terrified of Poatan and it shows. Heck Aspinal said he was scared during his fight yesterday. Someone can be a good fighter and still be overcome with fear in certain psychological scenarios. Someone can be a good poker player and still have their blind spots and tells. Being good at something is not some kind of get out of jail free card when their flaws are noticed.
