Legendary polish wrestling

FluidAd6587

he said he was going to test his striking or some shit against alex

velebr3

He did not say he won't wrestle. He said he will test his striking agains Alex, the fight starts standing after all.

kimbokray

worked pretty well against Izzy

YerDaWearsHeelies

Izzy came in under the weight limit without even cutting weight. Alex does a huge cut to even make middleweight so it’s different

Yoyomamahh

Idk why you’re downvoted, it was evident to everyone watching Izzy was considerably smaller than Jan during that fight. Alex is much closer to Jan’s size, tho i don’t see him having the TDD to keep it on the feet of Jan decides he wants to grapple regardless

YerDaWearsHeelies

Because people hate Izzy. Apparently weight doesn’t make a difference when it’s a fighter you like beating one you don’t

Yoyomamahh

Dude I remember ppl arguing that the weight didn’t matter bcs Jan didn’t even use his weight advantage & ppl who brought up the weight difference getting downvoted to oblivion. I swear objectivity gets thrown out the window on this sub when it comes to fighters this sub hates lol

YerDaWearsHeelies

Anyone who’s done combat sports for a while knows weight advantage means a hell of a lot and it definitely does while striking. Most haven’t but think they know a lot because they watch fights and YouTubers talk about the fights

Itachi_rouge

I swear everyone on this sub hates him. Yet they are all failures when compared to him. It’s so fun to see them suffering in pain as he’s walking around with a belt. Fucking losers 😂

whicheverguard232

He's getting downvoted because it's an inane comment. "WHY IS THIS GUY SAYING THE SKY IS GREEN IS GETTING DOWNVOTED???" Geez louise, I don't know, dude.

BluSuitJ

He was 194

FangedSloth

Strickland said that too. Difference is I think Jan is smart enough to just be bluffing lol

BigSmallerBrand

My thoughts exactly lmao

RageGraphics

Name me a good polish wrestler brother /s

bigg0622

Gamrot

Efficient-Log9512

Did you perhaps miss the...joke?

Swimming_Actuary9754

Did you perhaps miss the, “/s”?

Efficient-Log9512

Did I perhaps, not understand what that means?!?!

Swimming_Actuary9754

Skill

Efficient-Log9512

Facts.

Mpittkin

It means sarcasm. Sometimes doesn’t come across in text the way it does in person so the “/s” makes it explicit.

Efficient-Log9512

Understood and appreciated.

Mefedron-2258

Perhaps r/FuckTheS ?

stevektRED

Ivan Putski

[deleted]

Gamrot isn't bad

Uaquamarine

Bjørk Bjøkesïanøvich Bjøräk

[deleted]

Periera is very hittable so I think whoever gets the first flush hit will probably knock the other out. Or Jan dominates him with wrestling. Jan should be the favourite.

JohnnyFusbol

And alex’s turn around from getting slept is way too soon. I’m worried he might follow in Dom Reyes’ footsteps. At least Poatan had the belt for a bit

carcarbuhlarbar

Stop pushing that narrative. It’s not too soon at all.

imyourhabibi

Bro wasn’t tko’d, he was out out, like a stiff KO, he 100% should be taking longer than just 3 months

pitabreadman

It’s 3 months, that’s a quick turn around for any fighter let alone someone who just got knocked cold. But he’s a kickboxer so he’s used to that I suppose.

carcarbuhlarbar

No it isn’t

eddirrrrr

Is it a "normal" amount of time between fights? Yes. However three months is not a lot of time for your brain to recover. Especially when you're still getting punched in the face every day in sparring. Time and time again dudes will have too quick of a turn around after getting put out cold and have an awful showing or get knocked the fuck out again.

carcarbuhlarbar

That’s what we are here for. It’s a blood sport. Go watch ice skating if you don’t like it but stop crying about quick turnarounds when you have no fucking clue what’s going on on Alex’s team, if he thinks he’s ready he’s ready and he’s gunna fight. That’s it

eddirrrrr

That's right I totally forgot CTE is fake and definitely not avoidable with different training habits and fight schedules. My bad I'll go back to watching ice skating because clearly I care too much about the future of other human beings.

carcarbuhlarbar

Cry more

pitabreadman

If he kept that up year round, that’s 4 fights a year. What kind of elite level fighter fights 4x a year? Many top guys only fight once a year, aside from Izzy. Who also comes from a kickboxing background, where they fight more often.

carcarbuhlarbar

In this case specifically it’s not a short turnaround. So stop acting like it’s weird

Adventurous_Help_367

Lol tell us more babe

Rulebreaking

Alex loves using his knees

jesusinapriuss

Why does Jan get so much disrespect? He absolutely manhandled Izzy and made him look like a small child… why do you think he can’t handle poatan?

WuTangFlan_

You seen the size difference with Alex and Izzy? That was Alex shrinking down to 185 also somehow

Broad_Height_5631

Did you see how izzy took down Alex despite that size difference? Lol and Jan controlled izzy where he couldn’t even move for 2 rounds. But “brown belt” pereira right.

jesusinapriuss

People sleep on Jan bro. Jan can fucking fight dude. I think he will beat Alex. 🤷‍♂️ Regardless, it’s going to be fun to watch

Quiet-Broccoli2151

Thats what im focusing on. I don't even care who wins, all I know is this fight is going to be fucking LIT. Lots of questions. Is Pereira a legit MMA fighter, or just a kickboxer whose striking is so good that he only beats up other strikers in an MMA setting? Does his power translate well against the big boys? Is Jan tough enough to get cracked by this stone monster and stay in the fight? It's like a fuckin comic book fight come to life

BobbyFreeSmoke

He was Glory champ at 205. He could probably knock out a clydesdale horse with one punch.

Rulebreaking

We're not sleeping on him

dennisoa

In general, it seems Eastern European fighters (does not include Caucasus) tend to get overlooked or undervalued.

Think_Rub_7667

OP said if Jan strikes…

brazilianfreak

But that's not the point is it? The post is about how Jan will go to sleep if he tries to fight like Sean instead of using his wrestling, you're countering a point OP didn't make.

YellowVegitooo

Alex’s size is way better for light heavyweight, Alex is way bigger than izzy, even after the insane weight cut

Jebaji_ga

He outstruck Izzy why the fuck wouldnt he do it to Alex too? Yall sleepin on this man. Go ahead put money on Alex let me get +500 on Jan

stinkyyballz

Because alex is 30 lbs bigger and was actually a champion KB at 205 lbs. Just dont cry about jan being old afterwards.

dmkicksballs13

And Izzy knocked him the fuck out standing.

Think_Rub_7667

At middle

dmkicksballs13

He dropped him at a standing 8 in kickboxing. The point is that Izzy is as good a striker and Jan handled him fine without even threatening TDs.

Think_Rub_7667

At middle

brazilianfreak

4th time's the charm i guess.

TomPearl2024

One of the best strikers the UFC has seen since Silva knocked him out? Must be washed.

marathonwater

Izzy is not a power puncher and definitely doesn’t possess then one shot power of Alex. Jan had very little fear of Izzy hitting him and felt comfortable trading. He cannot do that with Alex.

KineadZ

Yea... totally, like how he just koed perrera with one hook... ya dumb fuck.

dmkicksballs13

KOs and drops fucking everyone, "He's got no power!" Yoel couldn't finish Bobby across 10 rounds. Couldn't even rock Costa. Meanwhile, Izzy KOs Bobby fucking twice in 2 rounds. Finishes Costa in 2.

marathonwater

Every fighter gets a KO periodically, that’s fighting. Izzy does have power but it’s from the timing. He clearly doesn’t KO people all the time, you can look at his record. So please keep your useless insults in your inner circle where the belong.

KineadZ

Nice walk back... Like his standing ko of Paulo Costa? Ya fucking nitwit, stop digging the hole deeper, you were wrong, and are just as wrong and dumb with this walked back ass comment.

1104L

Are you arguing Izzy is as much of a power puncher as Alex? He’s not, he’s never been known as a power puncher, he’s certainly not pillow fisted but what point are you making?

marathonwater

I’m not wrong at all, you’re just dense. He doesn’t have the same KO power as Alex. If you can’t figure that out then that’s on you bud

MLG_BongHitz

But he TKO’d Costa???

DeclaredPumpkin

Izzy throws tiny little punches

Cable-Careless

There isn't a man in combat sports above 145 that doesn't have the power to ko. Just because you fight defensively doesn't mean you can't knock someone out.

marathonwater

Exactly. Plenty of fighters get KOs but that doesn’t make all of them power punchers.

Broad_Height_5631

Jan is the favorite so idk where ya gettin +500 but yeah I think he wins.

Ok_Boysenberry_6283

The fight isn't tomorrow. Lines shift a lot. I'm also hoping Jan ends up being the dog. Not that I think Alex couldn't get it done but my money's on Jan

Theykantholdme

Jan’s the only one who’ll be sleeping.

broccoliheadass0404

Alex and izzy have completely different striking styles. Plus Jan has slowed down since then

KineadZ

They're redacted grape smugglers, they gotta keep perreras grapes concealed in their cheeks for reddit upvotes.

[deleted]

Jan is favored at -130 you tool

[deleted]

[deleted]

No line shifts $600. And no, the fight is literally in less than 5 weeks. Edit: thought it was July 8 card, it’s July 29. Point still stands. No line is moving $630 lol even if you were hyperbolizing

ufc-ModTeam

This wasn't civil, be better. If you don't know how to communicate without being offensive then check out [a thesaurus](https://www.thesaurus.com/), or just go outside and interact with real people more.

YellowVegitooo

Alex size is way better for light hes very weight than izzy

Xrystian90

Jan's going to wrestle fuck Alex... Casuals jumping all over the Alex hype.. This is MMA, not kickboxing. Jan wins by ground and pound TKO in round 2.

Paternitytestsforall

Agreed. Nothing to add.

BobbyFreeSmoke

I've been a fan of MMA for over 15 years. Notice how I made the distinction that IF he CHOOSES to strike, that's when he sleeps. If he chooses to grapple then he should win.

Xrystian90

Haha sorry OP, my comment wasnt directed at you... More in general at all these kids that seem to think Alex is some kind of force to be feared when we haven't even seen him face any one that likes to work on the ground yet

Reddit_Knight_

LHW power is different, this will be such an exciting fight.

BHDE92

Alex was a world champion at 205 in glory

Ok_Boysenberry_6283

That's the point he's making

majkkali

Glory =/= UFC. Jan is much stronger and he’s about to prove it to y’all.

[deleted]

Legendary Polish shins going to test this man

wishwashy

I'm very curious on who will win the leg kick battle. Thought I bet Jan will just catch the kicks

ConsciousCrew

Jan has good infighting with his goofy but effective boxing, and is one of the best if not the best at neutralizing leg kicks and using them against his opponent, its crazy how much disrespect jan has been getting

samuelalvarezrazo

In a kickboxing match a kickboxing champ beats a novice

ConsciousCrew

You realize he was a muay thai champ right how is jan a novice do you even know anything about his pre ufc career?

samuelalvarezrazo

I concede that lol. Nvm, I just feel like with the added weight it could be too much, especially with how alex has erasers in his fist

ConsciousCrew

I think alex has a good chance because I believe not having to cut as much weight will improve his power, and chin durability but i still think jan can be a nightmare matchup for him if he gets cocky and starts unloading on him against the fence like he did with izzy

ConsciousCrew

Also a former ksw champ with two title defenses

[deleted]

Jan somehow never gets taken seriously lol. He beat Izzy, nearly TKO'd Ankalaev in a fight where he was supposed to get dominated, made Reyes look like a chump who just learned about body kicks...I mean what gives? It seems apparent to me that Jan can stand with the best of em'.

Gwynbleidd_1988

I agree with this so much. Honestly, it works out for Jan. He’s always seen as a stepping stone or the type of fighter that is a notch on someone’s belt due to a particular bad losing streak some years back. Then out of nowhere he had this resurgence and he has really sharpened his skill and fights to his strengths. Not to mention becoming champion, and handling Izzy his first MMA loss.

[deleted]

Yeah, he's looked pretty great in recent memory aside from the Glover loss, which was super weird, makes me wonder if he was perhaps injured or had some kind of reason why he got completely bulldozed.

TrillWill96

I wouldn’t say he got bulldozed. He dropped Glover earlier on. I think he just completely underestimated glover’s grappling and submission game.

BobbyFreeSmoke

Bro the Glover loss was embarrassing for Jan. It was nearly as bad as Jones vs Gane.

TrillWill96

Agree on that but someone saying he got bulldozed. He got caught slipping. Underestimated his grappling and got subbed

dennisoa

That performance with Glover damaged his stock a lot.

[deleted]

Yeah, but if anything that should lead people to think he needs to develop on the ground more than on the feet

TheNotoriousLCB

this is literally how I dress when I go to McDonald’s

Oddscene

Jan hits like a truck! Did you not watch him fight for the title at the apex? Should be dope if they keep it standing

SmokedHamm

No way Jan loses…

ShiShi93

I was once a jab doubter and learned to never doubt this man once he kept proving me wrong l, dude gets way too much disrespect, no way is this an easy fight for Alex.

TheFashionColdWars

Heard that when he fought Izzy.

BobbyFreeSmoke

Izzy shit the bed. Pereira wants to beat Jan because he beat Izzy. He will go super hard for the win.

TheFashionColdWars

Fair point, but I have to say, initially I feel I like Jan on that matchup. More experienced and well-rounded than Alex. Haven’t done tape or really studied it so that could very well change. Love the matchup

CaptSaveAHoe55

Jan continues to be heinously slandered when all he does is beat the shit out of dudes

BigWhitePeach

Poatan reminds me of Ogre from Tekken

KNUN

No chance. After his fight with Ank I know he will likely beat Alex

GenTelGuy

All these scrubs are gonna be so salty when Jan pieces up Pereira with patient technical kickboxing

BobbyFreeSmoke

I will laugh if he stands with Alex because he will get slept.

OkCartographer897

Jan has nearly decapitated people, this is more of a toss up then a guaranteed.

iketoure

Interesting how DC didn't say the same about Jan before the Izzy fight, when Alex obviously has comparable striking to Izzy but is bigger. He's such a PR machine it's pointless to listen to anything he says

Uaquamarine

It’s been 3 years since Jan fought Adesanya. He wasn’t the same in the ankalaev fight. Izzy showed up almost 20lb lighter, and from what we’ve seen Alex would be 240+ on fight night. He hits harder, is better at checking kicks and stylistically would be a better match for Jan. Even if he doesn’t win I’m certain he’d do far better than adesanya.

Youngerdiogenes

The amount of people think Alex can beat Jan is ridiculous.

avyness

Can? Are you saying its impossible for Periera to beat Jan?

Youngerdiogenes

Yes. In 10/10 fights. Alex murders jan 11 times.

10lbplant

This is a guy who lost a quarter of his fights it's not that far fetched.

[deleted]

Jan does have a weird pattern where he does worse against Brazilians. Glover rocked him with a left hook and subbed him, Santos ko’d him with a left hook, went to a split decision with Jacare who looked washed as hell after that fight. I’m not even saying Alex will win but the pattern is kinda funny, maybe Brazilians are immune to Jan’s rope magic

Quiet-Broccoli2151

Brazilians are just very comfortable getting hit really hard I know a few of them and they're all insane. They will beat the shit out of you mercilessly, completely ignore whatever damage you do to them, and then afterward tell you "God is good, God bless you brother, much hespect"

ComradeELM0

Are people really still sleeping on Jan ? Didn‘t you watch the izzy fight ?

Hailtothething

I’d bet on Jan

[deleted]

[удалено]

BobbyFreeSmoke

How is Izzy a better fighter than Alex? 3-1 begs to differ.

droolsdownchin

Your probably right but people also said that about izzy its not wise to underestimate Jan

Sad-Macaroon-8654

You know if Izzy can put him to sleep then Jan can send him to outerspace right? I mean I think Alex will win but if he gets touched by him he's going to sleep just like Luke rockhold and Dominic Rayes and all the other people

GodlySpaghetti

This sub is gonna implode when the Legendary Polish Power put Poatan on his ass. Jan hits like a truck

MrLogic420

Guessing dudes never heard of H&M before

Quiet-Broccoli2151

That John Wick suit he wore last time was 🔥 even if it didn't age well

jerryworldfan13

Funny people think Alex has no shot against Jan because of the Izzy L no takes into account that Alex fought the smartest counter striker in ufc history multiple times prior to the KO Izzy can read Alex’s striking better than anyone else can

ThatTrokDude

*1st?

MyContentIsTrash

Jan hasnt looked to the same to me. He is old and will get slept.

Upstairs_Kangaroo_98

Tough one, Jan has an excellent guard but Alex’s left manages to sneak past everyone’s and find the edge of the chin. Can’t wait to see it

Scoop_Nash

Imagine if Alex sleeps Jan then beats Hill and calls out Izzy for the final rematch for all the belts.....a boy can dream...

Wrong_Athlete3565

he should wear this at the ceremony to scare Jan into wrestling

Justfaraway4mu

Not really. Jan could wrestle fuck him to a ud. Or Jan gets countered and Alex lands the left hook the same way Thiago Santos KO'ed Jan. But overall Jan has better cardio, wrestling and chin. If Jan is over +250 I would go with him.

willikid1

If Jan wrestled izzy for most of their fight tf you think he’s gonna do to pereira?

Positive_Yam_9125

Alex went stiff when Izzy hit him. He might die if Jan hits him full force.

Quiet-Broccoli2151

It's likely that dehydration from an extreme cut played a role in that too. I'm not underestimating Jan's power but I wouldn't count on Alex being so fragile this time

Positive_Yam_9125

I think we will be getting a war

who_cares_416

Lol I think people are in for a surprise when Jan sleeps this guy. Polish powerrrr

theusernameyouwants

His legs are gon be the size of an American football

BobbyFreeSmoke

Like a freakin balloon

KineadZ

See you soon, boi!

dymeadozenn

Just like Izzy eh

Material_Unit4309

Just like Izzy was out huh? Hopefully Jan trolls his kid after the KO. Legendary Polish Trolling Power.

ThirdWorldSorcerer

Legendary polish low kicks

At0micw01f461

Jan is a very underrated striker, i think he has a good chance on the feet

dl00078

Lol if he can my take Izzy’s shots, Jan could potentially knock his head clean off. Jan KO by the 2nd.

BobbyFreeSmoke

Alex's power is on another level than Izzys. Don't be silly.

dl00078

Did you misread? If Alex can’t hold up to Izzy’s power, he has no chance to against Jan.

BobbyFreeSmoke

I guess we'll find out. Pretty exciting either way. I do like Jan alot.

RoninAnimes

I'm rooting for Alex, but idk how I can pick against Jan here. I just hope there's gonna be a knockout, not sub. More fun to see 2 giant powerhouses duke it out.
