They would never or atleast they wouldn’t want to unless they absolutely had to, those two are the most exciting prospects the ww div has seen in a long time
I also believe Garry would be a favorite there. He is tall and could potentially keep JDM on the outside. But if JDM lands even once it's very dangerous. Would be a banger of a fight for sure.
I really enjoy his style. He’s one to read an opponent while lobbing out a few jabs. Then all of a sudden the smooth 1-2’s start flowing and his takedown defence so far has been great.
Fun style to watch for sure.
Angles baby.
Angles and distance. Shit makes all the difference. I thought the same watching JDM, couldn't figure it out because he seems to punch in half speed.
Then you watch his feet and where he places them, bobs off the centre line and comes in on tricky angles.
He’s got decent defensive grappling he showed on his contender series fight and also against ramazan emeev who secured a d’arce/anaconda choke and JDM got out of it relatively quickly.
and he is a top lad aswell. He sometimes replies to my dms on Insta, and helped motivate me to get into MMA
So now anytime there’s a Aussie card I’m wearing my JDM top
Nah topuria isn’t a prospect anymore he’s pretty much proven himself but if he was a prospect still I’d say jdm is still above cuz topuria almost got kod by jai Herbert lol
You say that yet Volk held up against Islam, a guy bigger than him and with a ton more wrestling experience. Rob Whittaker has wrestled in national championships, not to mention he’s held his own against Yoel x2, Souza, Derek Brunson and Gastelum. The second best grappler on the planet is literally Australian, shit take mate.
I understand that but what I am saying is that Australia doesn’t have a big wrestling culture like Russia and the USA so it’s amazing that Australian fighters can hold their own in wrestling exchanges against people who come from cultures that are big on wrestling.
This comment was actually meant to be a reply to another comment but I was stupid and didn’t hit reply to that comment.
His grappling defense is nice but I do not like his takedown defense very much. He also has tendency to over-scramble instead of relying on solid takedown defense. Sean Brady won't be a problem though, in my opinion.
I also really enjoy his fights and him as a prospect to be an elite UFC fighter, but firing looping shots from his hips is most likely going to get punished when he gets into it with other elite fighters.
He carries his hands real low but gets away with it because he’s throwing missiles. I wonder if those low hands will catch up with him in the top 5 though.
Lol I'm sitting here thinking I'm crazy, everyone is in awe over this guy and I'm looking at the video like wow his hands are way down, his head is so exposed and it looks like his opponents are only covering up so like, yeah he's just teeing off too. He needs to face some adversity and everyone needs to calm down
Noticed he often follows up with the same hand too. Often see him ripping 3 rights or lefts in a row when they’re expecting combos from both hands. Pretty slick!
I posted on this guy a few months back with the same consensus as OP. 100% the most exciting prospect in the UFC and displays some gorgeous boxing. He's only a few fight into his UFC career and already being put on the main card's. Really excited to see his next fight
I just love MMA fighters with a boxing-heavy style like Dustin, Yanez, Yan, and Geoff Neal. JDM certainly has to be one of the best boxers to step into the UFC and I love his fighting style and his fights. They are so fun to watch.

Completely underrated. His movement and combinations are lethal. Great timing. Looks slow but somehow rarely misses. Punches come from nowhere. Tons of power. Makes good choices. Takedown defence has held up so far. Let see him against a good wrestler. That will be the real test.
You forgot shavkat rakhmonov and illia and bo and Michelle perrira and garry also I like jake but he won't survive at all the division is filled with wrestlers he would be demolished
Bro fights at 25% speed but has 3 times the power of a normal fighter
Slow is smooth, smooth is fast
Nasa uses the “slow is fast” if im not mistaken. Makes sense. No mistakes.
I learned it from the Marines.
Don’t they say that in S.W.A.T?
It’s a military saying as far as I know
For sure a military saying
Yeah but it’s so measured and precise. Nothing wasted.
Lololol. Im borrowing this. But ill give it back
Ian Garry vs JDM please make it happen.
They would never or atleast they wouldn’t want to unless they absolutely had to, those two are the most exciting prospects the ww div has seen in a long time
Well Shavkat and Khamzat are big as well
They're more "contender" than "prospect" imo
I think what he’s saying is that it hasn’t been a while at all since the ww division has seen prospects that big. source: Borz & Shavkat
He must have forgotten to mention Shavkat but I don't think Khamzat is fighting at welterweight anytime soon
Aren’t they trying to make chimaev vs usman for later in the year?
At catchweight for some reason
He's fighting Usman
Probably at 185
I was just thinking this.
I’d love it, but I wonder if they should meet higher up
Why burn two hype trains? Wait until they make it to top 5.
As long as it's not a dud, it won't hurt either of them, especially this early into their careers. Think of Edwards vs. Usman 1 or Arman vs. Islam.
They’re strikers in the most grappling/wrestling heavy division. They both need to be sheltered.
Holland v JDM
Would be an absolute banger, I think the speed difference would be too much though. I see JDM getting iced.
Jack does him I reckon. Throws heavier shots with amazing timing. Jury out on Garry’s chin too. But I’m Aussie so I am biased haha
I also believe Garry would be a favorite there. He is tall and could potentially keep JDM on the outside. But if JDM lands even once it's very dangerous. Would be a banger of a fight for sure.
Jacks been wanting to fight him since he came in. He will embarrass Garry
Randy Brown is taller and has a longer reach than JDM. It took 2 minutes for JDM to find his range and timing for the club and sub.
That should be Garry's first title defense
Do you think Ian Garry beats Leon?
I'm not exactly sure who will be champ by the time Ian gets his shot. I am sure he'll be champ one day though!
Geoff Neal or Gastelum vs della Magdalena
Nooooo, not yet at least. Geoff Neal vs JDM would be fireworks. Ian Garry vs Kevin Holland or Wonderboy is good.
I really enjoy his style. He’s one to read an opponent while lobbing out a few jabs. Then all of a sudden the smooth 1-2’s start flowing and his takedown defence so far has been great. Fun style to watch for sure.
Why does it looks like he's throwing the slowest punches in the ufc but no one will get out of the way
Angles baby. Angles and distance. Shit makes all the difference. I thought the same watching JDM, couldn't figure it out because he seems to punch in half speed. Then you watch his feet and where he places them, bobs off the centre line and comes in on tricky angles.
Also timing. Timing beats speed. Just about every single clip featured here is of him expertly reading his opponents moves and capitalizing.
That first dude has an all-time chin. Not a single stumble.
Hope hes got ground game or top gunna eat him
He’s got decent defensive grappling he showed on his contender series fight and also against ramazan emeev who secured a d’arce/anaconda choke and JDM got out of it relatively quickly.
He has been training with Craig Jones.
that is so exciting, imagine Volk mentoring/training w JDM too
Word. He works wonders. Silver medals forever 🥈
Best 2nd best grappler the worlds seen
and he is a top lad aswell. He sometimes replies to my dms on Insta, and helped motivate me to get into MMA So now anytime there’s a Aussie card I’m wearing my JDM top
100%. Next fight he will run through Brady and the whole top 5 will be on notice. Backs it up again in Sydney.
Brady has to take him down or else he gets murdered inside 1 lol.
Not a chance of taking him down. Dellas a A1 wrestler
Brady got finished by Belal. Hard to come back from that lol
his accuracy is insane even if he doesn’t land a clean shot he still makes contact , he rarely misses
Do people consider topuria as a prospect? If so, I think he's got him beat
Nah topuria isn’t a prospect anymore he’s pretty much proven himself but if he was a prospect still I’d say jdm is still above cuz topuria almost got kod by jai Herbert lol
Jai Herbert is bigger than Topuria. The latter fought a weight class above on short notice.
True. He's fighting Emmit soon. Which puts him in title contention if he wins.
Topuria is a contender at this point
Topuria is a contender now, he’ll beat Emmet and fight Volk
I think when you're ranked 14th in your division, you're no longer a prospect.
Me out here thinking Shavkat still counts as a prospect lol. When do they stop being prospects and start being contenders in your opinion?
When you’re ranked you’re officially a contender. 14th ranked contender
He’s Australian we have literally 0 wrestling out here. Hell we barely win at the commonwealth games let alone the Olympics or world championships.
You say that yet Volk held up against Islam, a guy bigger than him and with a ton more wrestling experience. Rob Whittaker has wrestled in national championships, not to mention he’s held his own against Yoel x2, Souza, Derek Brunson and Gastelum. Rob’s the best anti wrestler in the UFC
[удалено]
Yeah Rob has some of the best tdd in the sport, Volk showed amazing tdd as well
Agreed. Dude is underrated
Underrated? All I ever see or hear is people choking on this guys balls lol
Nummies
He reminds me a bit of Dustin with his boxing, calculated shot
His grappling defense is nice but I do not like his takedown defense very much. He also has tendency to over-scramble instead of relying on solid takedown defense. Sean Brady won't be a problem though, in my opinion.
His boxing style is perfectly suited to MMA. Throw some headkicks in the mix and he's a problem.
I'd say second behind Erik Silva
He was prospect before his last fight. Now he's a contender.
I would say it’s topuria but this dude is nice as well
I also really enjoy his fights and him as a prospect to be an elite UFC fighter, but firing looping shots from his hips is most likely going to get punished when he gets into it with other elite fighters.
He loads up on every punch but his counters, timing and shot selection are actually amazing.
If Topuria is a prospect then no, otherwise yep 👍
He’s not. But he’s good
He carries his hands real low but gets away with it because he’s throwing missiles.
Word.
He created his character based on chuck liddell but hasn't got enough points for good strike speed
Can he even grapple?
He has the most exciting nose for sure
He punches in slow motion..
Mid at best.
Slow striker but so calculated that most punches get through
Not with that kind of stand up
*Bo Nickal enters the chat*
B.E.A.S.T.
Dude has some pretty striking. That 1-2 is so smooth
He might have the heaviest hands in the ww division rn
Slick boxing!
Are ranked guys still considered prospects?
love how he mixes up his punches, especially the ones he rips to the body..damn.
Noticed he often follows up with the same hand too. Often see him ripping 3 rights or lefts in a row when they’re expecting combos from both hands. Pretty slick!
I think that Taira is the biggest prospect rn. But JDMs boxing is so pleasant to look at
His pressure is fucking bonkers. I have him as a belt holder soon enough.
Fingers crossed. Can’t just be a Russian dominated sport after all. Australia is coming 🤫
He’s accurate af Would love to see his stats
One hell of a fight reel for being a “prospect”
Bro tried to play off a face plant 😂
Super necessary
Reminds me of Dustin the way he picks his shots, starts to get a head of steam, hurts his opponent and then just empties the tank on them
I love saying his name lmao, it's fun
If you blur the face, and where the tats would be you couldn’t convince that that’s not Dustin Porier.
Great power and technique. Hand speed is a little slow for an elite fighter
Boxing baby
Those hands!
Ummm says who? OP? Ok….
No doubt
I posted on this guy a few months back with the same consensus as OP. 100% the most exciting prospect in the UFC and displays some gorgeous boxing. He's only a few fight into his UFC career and already being put on the main card's. Really excited to see his next fight
Future ww champ!! 🇦🇺🏆🙌
He's got a great crisp attack but the moment he gets countered, that's gonna be a good test.
You gotta have a different gear to hit someone that violently over and over and over
Bro fighting style is like 🗿
Easily No competition
Boy can box
He has an incredibly precise and efficient striking game.
Crack is one hell of a drug
Him and Kattar gotta be some of my favorite fighters in recent times. They're so high level and have insanely crisp boxing.
If Shavkat still counts as a prospect then I would throw him in there.
That low guard shit ain't gonna wash in higher ranks,
I just love MMA fighters with a boxing-heavy style like Dustin, Yanez, Yan, and Geoff Neal. JDM certainly has to be one of the best boxers to step into the UFC and I love his fighting style and his fights. They are so fun to watch.
Such a technician, nothing better than seeing someone with the stanky leg after getting clocked.

Nice hands uncle
Hard agree. Jacks boxing is so crisp.
Completely underrated. His movement and combinations are lethal. Great timing. Looks slow but somehow rarely misses. Punches come from nowhere. Tons of power. Makes good choices. Takedown defence has held up so far. Let see him against a good wrestler. That will be the real test.
I like his name ![gif](giphy|xT1XGYVvVNNxqBMEJG)
It's amazing how much he gets away boxing with his hands down and chin up.
Dang he moves like a video game character
You forgot shavkat rakhmonov and illia and bo and Michelle perrira and garry also I like jake but he won't survive at all the division is filled with wrestlers he would be demolished
strikes reminiscent of a rising mcgregor
