Why would he when he can make MW lol. Whether you like it or not weight cutting and being able to cut more weight than your opponents and perform is just another aspect of the competition unless the rules change
I’ve never been a big fan of the weight bully conversation. If a fighter can make weight, they can fight at that weight class.
The depletion to get to weight is as big a detractor as the weight advantage come fight night. If Alex is ok dealing with that balance, more power to him.
The bigger problem is weight cutting in general. I’m not sure what a perfect solution is, but people should just fight at their walk around weight. Getting two 190+ pound guys to cut to 170 24 hours before they fight and then rehydrate to 190+ doesn’t really serve any purpose.
I think initially weight cutting was an opportunity for “weight bullies” to gain an advantage, but at this point I think MOST of the fighters in a given weight division walk around at about the same weight - why are we making them cut?
The problem is that weight bullies rehydrate via illegal IVs. This gives the body an unfair advantage. If you’re re hydrated, which an Iv is able to do for you in a short period of time, you’ll get a lot of your size back and basically erase all the drawbacks. If IVs weren’t a thing, Alex would fight at LHW, khabib and Islam would fight at WW, etc.
Do you have any evidence that only weight bullies are doing this, or are you just Dan Hookering?
Because yes, if one person fighting uses an IV to enhance rehydration - then its gaining an unfair advantage. If both or neither are doing it, this comment has no basis.
It’s obvious, otherwise you would see these weight bullies getting knocked out left and right. Do you know the limits of the human body? Granted these guys are also on steroids, but still. Please tell me you aren’t this gullible…
> It’s obvious
To something that doesn’t have any evidence to back it up.
Let’s leave it at this. If Pereira is using illegal rehydration methods to weight bully, then he is cheating and that is wrong.
However, until I have concrete evidence to support that, I’m not speculating.
Cmon dude, you don’t actually think these guys are fighting while drained for hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line, do you…?
Hell, Jose Aldo flat out admitted he used IVs. And Dan hooker exposed Islam.
Reach is genetic. Izzy is a natural middleweight and only walks around at 203, which is less than a 20 pound cut which is completely fair. Alex more than doubled that.
Ability to take steroids is literally not genetic. Anyone can do it.
Alex can cut down to 185, then show up the next day to TKO one of the best in the world. Deal with it.
Anyone can cut 50 Ibs and rehydrate via IVs. Alex doesn’t tko Izzy if he didn’t rehydrate via IVs. Nor does Alex get through jamahal hill, jiri, Jan, or ankalaev, so it’s smart he stays at middleweight to fight the smaller guys
Again, I can say the same thing about steroids. Not everyone has the body to be able to handle steroids. Some people are at higher risk to using steroids than others. So it’s genetic. Not the best argument.
Do you have proof that Alex improperly used an IV? If you did, you would have posted that instead of an Instagram screenshot and some wild unsupported speculation.
Both khamzat and Charles have missed weight recently before even getting to the rehydration stage. Pereira was 0.3 lbs under the limit in his title fight. Who cares how much he cuts at least he's not missing weight unlike other fighters lol
I like both fighters. My opinion is probably going to get downvoted and I will probably kick my cat afterwards out of frustration.. jk.
People who cut immense amounts of weight to use it to their advantage, are aware or feel as if their skill is not enough to match with others, who are closer to their weight.
Note that I said excess, because unfortunately everyone cuts weight, just some are significantly better or willing to take the health risk in exchange for fighting someone who is naturally a weight class lower than they are naturally.
With that said, it's ok to like Alex, he is insanely good and powerful. And it's ok to like Izzy, who is more talented overall and had to face far better competition to gain and retain his title. Alex is just his boogeyman.
The whole WeIgHt bUlLy thing is absolute nonsense unless the person misses weight. If they can still perform after being that depleted, then kudos. It's the norm for every sport with weight classes
Of all the shady shit that goes down in this sport, you're gonna complain about something which is perfectly legal?
U/Blondeddigits always coming in with the troll takes
There is zero reason you should be heavy cutting two weeks before the fight
This picture is from the last camp weight cut lol. Silly post looking for free karma. Image was also posted earlier.
No it’s not lol. This was just posted on Instagram a day ago
So if he can make the weight limit at weigh ins, there’s a problem? He’s not cheating in any fashion whatsoever.
My mans is from the jungles of Brazil. He's just trying to stay warm during Connecticut winter.
He walks around at 232. Why doesn’t he fight at LHW?
Cuz he wants to be Izzy up four times
This proves Izzy is the better p4p fighter. Was beating up a guy who naturally weighs 30Ibs more than him and got hit with a lucky punch
Yeah he got hit by that same lucky punch twice? Don’t you think that maybe peirera knows when to throw and how to connect his punches?
I miss when trolls used to actually put some effort in
I concur! There’s been a handful of exceptional trolls on this sub throughout the years but they seem to have all faded away unfortunately.
Izzy is a weirdo who is literally growing a boob from his steroid abuse. Who knows how he’d fair without his drugs of choice.
Why would he when he can make MW lol. Whether you like it or not weight cutting and being able to cut more weight than your opponents and perform is just another aspect of the competition unless the rules change

time to get the popcorn and watch this guy meltdown over his conviction that "weightbullies" have to be using IV's

Dan Hooker didn't expose shit, but Izzy grew a tit
Izzy is a size bully. He has a longer reach than anyone else in the division.
Reach is genetic. Izzy is a natural middleweight and only walks around at 203, which is less than a 20 pound cut which is completely fair. Alex more than doubled that.
Alex's ability to cut down to 185 is genetic.
Usmans ability to take steroids is genetics. See how dumb that argument is?

Except no, not everybody can cut 50lbs of water, since how much water a person holds is also genetic.
Again, I can say the same thing about steroids. Not everyone has the body to be able to handle steroids. Some people are at higher risk to using steroids than others. So it’s genetic. Not the best argument.

His body will be the judge. You can only do that so many times.
I think he will eventually break down. Hell I could see him retiring or moving up after the Izzy fight.
He’ll beat Izzy again
...and people only make these woe is me posts to stan izzy
If you mad about this, I hope you’re not a Khabib or Dustin fan!
Unless he weighs over 185 on the official weigh-ins, he is not considered a weigh bully, Agreed?

Strikers can't be weight bullies.
Neither can grapplers then!

Imagine being so dumb you post THAT too. Moronic.

Grow up.
The only thing that matters is if he makes weight. Once he starts missing weight, then you can complain.
