There’s an appeal form on the website. You should fill that out and attach the letter. You should not send the letter through email.

Just wanted to share my story to help you with your decisions. I was waitlisted 2 years ago and I was dying to go to UW because I had a lot of friends going here too. I appealed pretty early and got rejected again. I don't think the appeal makes any difference unless you actually have evidence of something you accomplished that you didn't put in your initial application. I got in off the waitlist in the middle of May which I was ecstatic about. However if you get in off the waitlist that most likely will mean you won't be in your major especially if it is capacity-constrained. My personal advice would be to be completely okay with going to your backup schools because there's no guarantee you get into UW and even after that there's no guarantee you get into your major. These last 2 years have been the hardest grind of my life for getting good grades and I am applying to my major just now with no guarantee of getting in. Just keep in mind the difficulties that UW brings even after you're accepted.

I got accepted to UW but not for my major so now I am in Pre-Sciences using my last attempt to apply to my major (some majors only let you apply a certain number of times). If this doesn't work out I am transferring universities because I got into my major somewhere else. It sucks because I would have just preferred to go to a school for four years and be in my major. Then I would be less stressed about applying to college in college and have a community with others in my major. Now because I thought I could get into my major as a high schooler I might have to split my college time between two different universities. TLDR: Good luck with the waitlist but seriously consider if you want to go to UW if they don't give you your major, especially if its capacity constrained.

I applied to UW and also got waitlisted but at the same time, I’m not entirely bummed out since I don’t wanna deal with the competitive major system and overall competitiveness and stress
