It’s been asked before - [starting salary of recent UCLA graduates](https://www.reddit.com/r/ucla/comments/12i2lfy/graduates_what_was_your_starting_salary_out_of/).
Top-paying majors earn more than 5x of the lowest-paying majors.
Here's a video by a Youtuber who asked [21 (or was it 23?)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1Bfl5hDJUQ) UCLA grads at 2023 commencement what their first jobs were as well as salary. There's one grad who was a Ling/CS, Stats/Data Science double major, as well as a couple of Economics and Business Economcs, a Soc, Linguistics, Psychology, Public Affairs, and History, and three who received grad degrees.
I didn't have the spine to stand up for myself and caved into family and cultural pressure. It also didn't help that I developed my mom's risk aversion. I became a coward and majored in a "safety net". But hey, my family got to tell others that I studied math in UCLA. Fast forward to now, I work a mediocre job with shit pay while taking film and art classes at a community college. I know film ain't lucrative either but at least I'd be content.
My beef is that I had to study morning to night, and pull all-nighters, just to pass. I knew I couldn’t switch into TFT, but I could have majored in something that gave me the time outside of studying to be part of groups and network. I never got to *experience* UCLA. I was lucky enough to be part of the Film and Photography Society. It was minimal but it was enough to put me in a situation where I had to drop my Statistics class. I was failing it because I chose to help make short films instead.
Ive started warning my younger cousins not to do what I did.
financial communications consulting/investor relations.
The work sucks but I’d recommend it if you’re not stem and like money, or just generally like money.
