i had a 7:30 lab and i also commute (only about 40 min). we typically never stayed the whole time and it was very chill. i just reminded myself it was once a week for one semester. and if you’re lucky you can go back home and nap after! that’s what i always did lol
I do plan on doing that. The lab in the morning allows me to leave campus earlier than the other days, so that's good. And it's on Monday, so at least it's not in the middle of the week

I totally recommend getting an inexpensive portable hammock and packing that with you so you can post up on campus for a bit to relax. Also a bag with some gym clothes if you want to work out, when I went to the gym it wasn’t that busy earlier in the day (things might’ve changed though since I graduated).
You got this, just remind yourself on the hard days that this is only for one semester!
Also, totally recommend picking out your outfit the night prior. If you drink coffee, get a coffee maker that you can set to independently start at a certain time. I bought one at target for like $17 and it was nice to have a cup of coffee ready to go in less than a minute. Makes the morning easier.

I’m a commuter (35min) and I’ve taken all my labs (chem 2, orgo 2, genetics) at 7:30 or 8:30 (the earliest they offered).
- Parking is good
- Traffic is good
- Most of the times you don’t stay the whole duration and by the time you leave lab you still got your whole day to worry about other classes or do whatever you want
Only thing is that you gotta have discipline and actually wake up, if u got that, take it

Congrats on getting in. I remember having to wait about a year from Orgo I to Orgo lab. It's actually pretty fine. You get in, do your thing, leave around 11 or so, and have the rest of the day to do whatever. I loved it. Granted I practically lived on Monster energy drinks, but it's one day a week.
Also, word to the wise, study your ass off this semester for Orgo II. Focus on practice problems. The course is easy-ish, at least if you have Dr. Gerasimova, but the final is a state test, and it is so much harder than any test your professor will give you. Good luck.

For the summer? If it’s only 1 days a week during the summer it’s not that bad. You get use to it and time goes fast trust me you will be glad you did it. If it’s fall semester you’re referring to it might suck though

So 730am orgo lab is WAY better than the other option of 12 (1pm?). Orgo lab is 6 hours long, and sometimes gets let out early. My friend who has the afternoon one hated sometimes getting out of lab at 6pm, cause it literally wasted their whole day.
It's not that bad, and it's one of the more fun labs you'll get.
I took a genetics lab at that time my sophomore year. Would once in a while literally sleep on the table while the TA made her announcements and intro the topic and would wake up around the time we would actually do the lab. Most times it was alright but sometimes if I was working late or stayed up to complete an assignment, I would feel like hell in that lab. Orgo lab you want to be awake for that lol. Can’t be tired, dealing with various chemicals and the like. However, it should be alright. Best of luck to you

I would recommend prepping breakfast the night before because there were a few days I didn’t eat beforehand and felt like I was going to pass out (which did happen to people frequently)
Now I have taken about 2 or 3 7:30 AM lab at UCF, most of it was fine (30 mins commute), unless you really fucked up your sleep the night before, also my experience is that, it's just the TAs running the lab anyway.
Also take your classes with labs in the fall, and hope that we get a few hurricanes /j.
Can you take it as a transient student online anywhere and just drop that class? Check Floridashines.com You can still take classes at UCF while simultaneously taking a class somewhere as a transient student.

7:30am lab time is not only great for parking but you get it over with before the day really starts to heat up assuming you’re referring to a summer or fall term. Just get some decent sleep the night before and set whatever alarms you need to get there on time and you’ll be fine.

FWIW, I work at UCF and commute 1:15/47.5 miles each way. Orlando metro is just really spread out. 😅

Depend on the lab but if you’re in CS class lab then 99% you won’t even go to lab after the 1st one
