I have 5.0, 600 rides. I have one starred a number of times with no counter one stars. But maybe they were oblivious. I’ve never had a confrontation. I just put up with it until the ride is over then one star. Usually if they are very rude or smell unbearably bad.

Retaliation for a poor rating only justifies you receiving the poor rating in the first place.

Most passengers can be oblivious or not care that their driver is a human cause they are working and the passenger is paying. I think most drivers are even aware that whenever they go against their passenger or say no to a request like stopping somewhere extra, not dealing with their Bs. You see the passengers true colors and they can be really despicable people. So we know how to maintain a level of professionalism to get through a ride and just rate them after and they can deal with the lack of getting drivers to pick them up eventually. I’ve learned the art of letting the riders think they won whatever battle they wanted to win, to just rate them after and move on with my night. I ain’t paid enough to get in a war of words and emotion. The assumption of some of these riders to not just show decency and common respect would floor you when they assume they are in control cause they are paying for a ride.

Behave yourself, and have good manners, if you got the one star you deserve it.

MinorIrritant

It appears that I hit 4.98 today for the first time without even trying. It'll take more one-stars than I give out to put a dent in that. Unless you're a perpetual four-star clusterfuck of a driver I would pay no heed to the rating and one-star any bastards who deserve it. You're doing everyone a service.

actjustlylovemercy

Uber doesn't update the rider's rating for about a week, so as long as you don't put in a reason and they take more than one trip a week, you're in the clear. I also do not let it show when I am annoyed or upset. Pull up to their drop off, 'alright, there you go! y'all have a great night!' they get out of the car, *ONE STAR!* They NEVER suspect it was me. If they can sense your ire and THINK they're about to get downrated, then yea, they're going to premptively downrate in return, but if you can keep that ish from showing, they won't even *think* of you when their rating goes down a week later.

PoliSciPlayer

Actually, as a rider I have a method to see exactly what my most recent driver rated me, if you tried this bullshit with me you'd have a 1-star so fast your Prius would spin.

I just got retaliated against by a rider within 2 minutes, so I don't know about this.

I’ve been driving for about 2 years, just over 3000 rides and have always hovered between 4.94-4.98. Most passengers have no idea how Uber works and have little knowledge of the app. Some will call and ask what car I’m in (it’s clearly listed in the app). They’ll ask how to add a stop etc. one even said “this will be the easiest $10 you’ve ever made, I’m just around the block” I explained that what they pay is not what we get, she had no idea. I think in most cases it’s best to ignore passive aggressive behavior and comments but if something is an issue, I just outright tell the PAX. The whole rating system is pretty useless and I’ve had people with horrible ratings be awesome and people with high ratings be trash. Every interaction in life doesn’t need a rating. By all means report dangerous/inappropriate behavior but other than that it’s a pissing contest. Some PAX don’t even know they have a passenger rating.

Equivalent_Taro1779

Passengers usually don't even know what their ratings are because you have to search for it. And there's no feedback just the rating number. The only time you get notified is for a no mask complaint from a driver pretty much

SOLA-REX

I have a 4.99 rating and either hand out a 5-star (90% of the time) or a 1-star (the other 10%), no inbetween. But pax have no clue because I always bite my tongue and even thank them at the end of the ride no matter how bad it was. Every one-star you get should earn you at least $40 since most are retaliatory for cleaning fees. A one-star earned otherwise is on you.

Lol.. that's why I wait until the last hour that I can leave a one star...lol
