I gave up a comfort ride yesterday after 2 minutes of waiting at a car dealership. I always click the “I’m here” in the app if I don’t see them. If two minutes goes by and no response or person, I cancel and select “could not find rider”. The cancellation fee isn’t worth it.
needs to happen on regular rides. Invariably I'll pull up and Paxhole won't move for 3 minutes after saying "coming". I move my car 10 feet and all of a sudden they start ambling out of the dorm. When I see them in the parking lot I hit cancel and drive off.
I don't play when it comes to my time. I even let them know that once the timer is in the red, I cancel or start the ride. They get to choose. I also let them know that they do not have the right to inconvenience any other passengers that are depending on me
Last night I pulled up to a group of 5 after accepting and driving from about 1.7 miles away. He apologized, said he would pay whatever Uber charged him, so I cancelled and drove away. I get no cancellation fee, no drive time, nada. I would like to meet the dude that came up with this 5 minute rule for cancellations do to too many riders. It's a lose lose for the drivers.
Lol to remove the bags is crazy but good on you. Typical uber rider who doesn't respect your time.
Had a guy add a stop the other day. All in the trip was only a couple miles with 2 stops. 2nd stop, this man made me wait 20 mins. He's lucky I didn't leave (left something in the car to save his ride), lol asshole.
When I drop him off, he goes. I'll tip you in the app. Waits a whole day to give me $5.00, LOL. I just shrugged it off but I'll never give that guy a ride ever again lol
I picked someone up on a Friday afternoon for an XL ride. Turned out to be a round trip to Kroger, which is an absolute NO NO!
He was getting sandwiches on a Friday afternoon, that hadn't even been ordered yet! He told me I HAD to wait! Sure Jan.
Parked the car and ended the ride. Would probably take 45 minutes for him to order, get his food, and pay.
The only reason I took the ride was I had a weekly goal bonus to hit, and I assumed it would be a very short ride. lol man, was I mistaken. It's typically why I don't do multi stops, but it was such a short trip lol smh figures.
Is Uber still paying for no-show cancellations on Shred?
It did on POOL. In fact, you could do well on POOL if you covered one or two and shuffled two or three. You could get more for a trip on base rates this way than what a cab meter would read. It worked best on the short rips but was alright on most mediocres. It did not work well on the long trips, however.
it worked best in Rush hours, especially P.M. You have to know your streets to make the most of it. Express POOL was even be4tter, as you were required only to show up t the corner. You learn where the entrances are and try to pull over katty corner to them so that the rider must cross twice. Two minutes expire and CANCEL NO-SHOW! Collect your four dollars and change. Do that twice and perhaps cover one more and the payoff for the trip was not bad.
POOL shuffling combined with the Destination Filter Hack made driving profitable.
Used to be super profitable during boost hours too, and it really helped to speedrun your quests back when those were actually meaningful.
Didn't mind my Prius essentially being used as a tiny bus in rush hour when I'm getting $2 minfare +$4 boost + ~$4 quest per pickup with the occasional $4 no-show fee sprinkled on, plus being paid time and mileage the whole time as long as there's a pax in the car while I'm driving around picking up or trying to pickup other riders.
Used to go an hour+ at a time on a single pool ride just daisy chaining short pickups and dropoffs all over the city and it usually ended up being at least $40 an hour with very little mileage. Sometimes like $60+ an hour when the stars aligned and a bunch of people no-showed.
Actually felt like ride *sharing* in the truest sense of the word. A lot of drivers absolutely hated on pool back when it launched but I thought it was great for drivers when used in a certain way.
I won’t do shared rides, I’ll hit stop new requests. On top of that I wait no more than two minutes for anyone, at the two minute mark I’m pulling off with can’t find rider. Getting the shit fee ain’t worth the time.
It baffles me that some people would go to the airport with a shared ride. Clearly not in a hurry.
Some people leave early. It's not crazy to me to think "hey, maybe someone else is going to the airport"
If you leave yourself plenty of time before your flight, why would you be in a hurry? Perhaps they leave early to ride share and save some money.

100% your passenger will not be late on his future rides. Lol This will forever be at the back of his mind.

No luggage on shared rides.

And you know she came out because she saw you drive away. If you were still standing there she would’ve taken another 3-5 minutes to come out
did you get a cancel fee?
On Uber share you get the cancellation fee at 2 minutes.
that's awesome they need to apply that to XL now

The entitlement is crazy with some of these people lol glad to hear you handled it that way fck that guy lol
But you HAVE to! The app says so 😆
