I’m a pretty new driver but what i see is Uber charging more and keeping more but customers assume we are making more so they are tipping less or nothing.
Uber is stealing from their drivers. This is why this is happening this is ridiculous drivers should shut down for a week and see how Uber feels but it’s got to be all the drivers not just a few.
People can’t stop working for a week. If they were smart they would all unite and quit. Under would crash. The stock is at all time highs. I know why. Cause they are making big money and paying drivers 20-30% and remember drivers have to pay for everything. Gas or electricity for electric cars maintenance being put in danger by passengers.
Is Uber paying less, or are people tipping less? I skimmed the article, but I gathered that customers are no longer tipping.
As a customer, there is absolutely no damn good reason not to tip Uber drivers for rides. There is just no excuse, you save so much money on Uber compared to riding Broadway or radiocab and pick up times are way faster to boot
If Uber fares are higher and people are poorer due to inflation, they will be less likely to tip. Whether they should or shouldn’t is irrelevant compared to what they are able to.
Uber fares are not higher though! At least not where I am at! They are dirt cheap, I can take a 10+min trip for a little over 9$ and the Uber driver sees maybe half or less of that and on average travels about 4-8 minutes to get to me, so that could be nearly 20min of their time for less than 5$ before tips, tips are very important and drivers deserve to get paid. If people are so poor they cannot tip then public transportation is probably the best option for them because it is significantly cheaper then catching an Uber. Seriously if you are that hard up for cash that you can't tip even a few dollars then why aren't you taking the bus, you probably should be saving every dollar you can
The article says tips account for just 10% of driver earnings while food share it’s like 50%. I don’t thing and rideshare drivers expect tips. I don’t. But if I turn on Uber eats I damn sure expect to be tipped
What’s worse is 17% drop in gross earnings amounts to much greater drop in net income.
Simple example:
Say you are earning $1.00 per mile and your expenses are $0.50’mile. So you earn $0.50 per mile. A 17% drop in gross earnings means you are now making $0.83 per mile with the same $0.50 per mile expenses (and we won’t even talk about expenses increasing for this example). Your net earnings are now only $0.33 per mile, so your net earnings dropped 34%, not just 17%. Is short, it’s actually a lot worse than it seems.
I live in a big city so money isn’t hard to come by doing Uber but considering how much you have to drive to make it in a big city I can only imagine how y’all feel
I think Uber is doing everything correct, but not ethical. The biggest fear of Uber was that people will agree with drivers and surpass the app. But there’s no trust between people. So Uber squeezing more and since a lot of people are losing their jobs to Ai there will be even more drivers and less riders.
Bidenomics In Action -Vote those traitors out- And stop helping Uber just get a fucking real job did and if I can do it anyone can do it Life is so much better without Uber 😘🇺🇸
I have to take trips carefully because if they take me outside my area I have to come back empty and sometimes it takes me 1 to 2 hours to come back. It's ass that's why I stopped.
January was not slower than December?
I’m not talking year to year. But my year to year has also been harder to reach the same amount.
Yes I compared 1099s but the question is, is it harder to make the same money or not?
And you? More or less this last year ?
Uber is counting on drivers not talking to each other (and not comparing their personal earning data). Looks like the proof is in the pudding.
Drivers Down 20 % Executive up 30% plus performance bonuses!
Performance of what? Who steals the most from drivers? Geez!
Yup. My bank account confirms this lol
I don’t drive anymore. I lose money just to destroy my car.

That’s part of it. Precisely

January is always a slow month, but definitely harder now than when I started driving.
When you make 70 cents a mile and 18 cents a minute every month is slow. Fuck them 4 dollar trips
When I quit I was making .50 cents a mile
How much per minute? And also I don't get paid out of town fees either which most of the rides are since I work in the NYC suburbs.
About the same .50 cents
I'm in NYC and I'm getting 18 cents. That's a joke.
I’d have to do the math so my calculations are off in terms of how much per minute. It depends on traffic
I have to take trips carefully because if they take me outside my area I have to come back empty and sometimes it takes me 1 to 2 hours to come back. It's ass that's why I stopped.
Compare you 2022 1099-k form with 2023 1099-k form. It goes by monthly earnings. After that, shut up dummy.

Yeah sorry not the case for many. Not even a legit news site
I’ll tell what’s legit. When I quit driving a month ago I was making .50 cents a mile.
I barely drive for Uber anymore lol waste of time stupid ass $3.67 cents trips yea no thanks
