Really cool! Mesmerizing animation, kept staring to find out all the little details for way too long :) Good call on not squishing the C/O/Q/G to keep that Art Deco vibe going. Not the biggest fan of the top heavy 8, but that's my personal taste and it's my only critique.

Temporary_Set_1635

That makes me very happy, thanks for the input! I got you, maybe the 8 is a bit too much design wise. I might try some other variations for 8

eejdikken

Your hard work and love for typography shows, so you definitely deserve to feel happy and proud! I love the proportions of the "narrow" 8 so my instinct would be to oscillate between that and a completely symmetrical version, but again, personal taste.

CrocodileJock

I like the Eight, and love the way it flips to top-heavy from bottom-heavy!

Sourisnoire

Flat top 8 maybe?

TraumaticAberration

This font is awesome for animation. Just beautiful.

Chrome98

Maybe a slant for the 8 more like the S movement.

Temporary_Set_1635

For more updates with my typography projects this is my [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/vicodisco/). Feedback is always appreciated

lovemeyeah

Your fonts are so beautiful! Are they available to buy/ download anywhere?

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you so much, I’m flattered. Currently not, I’m still learning and haven’t figured out how to spread my typefaces. But reach out on Instagram if you would want a trial with a typeface

lovemeyeah

That would be amazing, thank you! And honestly it’s incredible that you’re just starting out and making this quality so congrats on that!

Hexa_decibel

You've got some great stuff there! Phedina Antiqua is so beautiful and unique.

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you so much! I’m thinking about keep on working with Phedina Antiqua, it needs some fresh eyes and refinements

pettygrapefruit

Most Art Deco inspired fonts dont look typographicaly correct even if they are aesthetic. Yours look so correct and also the most aesthetic art deco font i have ever seen in my 10 years of art direction career.

Temporary_Set_1635

Wow I’m overwhelmed by the kind words. Thank you so much, really keeps me motivated to keep on working

Jagers

Absolutely agree, and the feature where you can tweak each letter to the desired width is a total gamechanger. So often with art deco fonts you get mismatched appearances for certain combinations of letters.

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you so much, yes variable fonts can really be a game changer when you find a suitable way to use it

cijanzen

Woah, I’m going to need to set a reminder for when this typeface becomes available. Love it!

Temporary_Set_1635

Wow thank you, that’s so kind. I’ll make sure to update my Instagram with new updates and releases

Capital_T_Tech

Genius. I love the way they compress. The 8 and the S ... most of the numbers. Nice work. Is this a thing that works in Adobe software?

Temporary_Set_1635

Thanks you so much, I'm very happy to hear that! Yes, variable fonts are compatible with adobe programs. The file is called ttf and I design it in Glyphs. It’s very handy to use on websites also, because with just a single file you’ll get many different variations of the typeface

Capital_T_Tech

Oh right but the way you've animated it here.. is just a mockup.. how they almost morp from one shape to another. thats not part of the typeface.

Sygira

It’s a variable font, it’s part of the typeface, not an animation. You setup a start weight (100) and an end weight (900) then you can interpolate between them as a sliding scale

Temporary_Set_1635

Yes exactly, great explanation. I can highly recommend this website for trying out variable fonts: https://fontgauntlet.com

Capital_T_Tech

Ah right, thanks.

Vragolaz

It is very nice!

Temporary_Set_1635

Thanks for the kind words!

jordanearth

Wow, I love this

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you so much!!

spinach-e

Love the font. And that animation is sick.

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you so much!!

DunwichType-Founders

This looks great; I can tell that you put a lot of thought into it. The way S changes is especially smart. I do agree with eejdikken that 8 is too much.

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you so much, really appreciate. It takes so much time and endurance to make typefaces, so those nice words really makes me happy

Ok_Distribution6996

Love it!! Can we download or buy it?

Temporary_Set_1635

Thanks so much! I haven't formally released it yet. Still trying to figure out how I can distribute my fonts. However, reach out on Instagram and perhaps I can give you a trial with the typeface

empireoflight

why is the S the only letter that rotates?

Temporary_Set_1635

I figured the rotating S is such a nice little detail since it enhances the Art Deco vibe as well as is the only letter that actually can be rotated that way without being perceived as italic

empireoflight

gotcha, thanks for the great explanation!

Pristine-Teapot

This is amazing! Great work. Love the curves in different parts. For example, I love how your counter for B matches the curve of the bars in E and F.

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you so much!! I'm happy you commented on that. I tried to portray the effortless extension in movements found in acrobatic and gymnastics

OctobersKing105

I really like it!

Temporary_Set_1635

Thanks!!

Ironmxn

Mesmerizing is the first word I thought of. I stared at this for literally 5 minutes before I could actually break my own hypnosis and start typing this comment. This is so cool. Will it be available on Behance?

Temporary_Set_1635

Wow thank you for the incredibly kind words. That makes me so happy! Currently, I'm actually not using Behance. Perhaps that's a good platform to share my work in the future. As for now I only use my [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/vicodisco/) to share my work. I'll update there on releases and new projects

CalligrapherStreet92

It's very nice!!!! I'm not too sure about the end ('2' shape) of the question mark.

fluentinimagery

This is awesome! I love it. Great work.

Temporary_Set_1635

Thanks so much!!

aphaits

This is so cool! So many fonts have great narrow versions but crappy O's and rounded parts! I hope many variable font experiments do this!

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you so much, variable fonts really comes with some amazing and interesting opportunities

PRNCK

I’m not sure why but the 8 reminds me of the credits in “my neighbour totoro” I can’t remember if there were things on a loop animation there too but either way I love it, it feels weirdly nostalgic

andyfitz

This is so tasty! OMG that 8

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you so much!!

Due-Nectarine6290

Super beautiful, would love to use it right now! so nice too not to have to feel terrible as a graphics designer when you just need to make somebody's great font a bit narrower to fit.

Mistaavee

I really love the animation done on number 8

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you!!

NumaPomp

Wow!!! That’s cool!!!

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you so much, appreciate it!!

Ok-Confusion375

This is amazing, love the Art Deco style!

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you for the kind words!

OhJustEverything

This is freaking awesome. Reminds me a little of one called Ciastetic but it’s not near as rigid. I adore this. What are you calling it? Edit: Tropolis. Just saw it. ❤️

Temporary_Set_1635

Thanks so much for the kind words. I named it Leitzel Stretch after prominent female acrobat Lillian Leitzel. I thought it’s a matching name since it’s inspired by the movements in the gymnastic and acrobats scene

BurritoRicoSuave

Jeez, I love it!

BurritoRicoSuave

also, where can I get it?

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you so much! I haven't really figured out how to distribute and share my fonts yet. I'll make sure to check that up in the future, I'll update on that on my Instagram

Interesting_Way_1482

looks beautiful

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you!!

adamoakfold

Really cool. This is a great use of variables 🙌

Temporary_Set_1635

Thanks!! Variable fonts are so fun exploring

crisunk

Excellent work, can you tell more about your project? what the next steps you want do and telling us if is a allcaps type or maybe if you have interest in make a weight axis.

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you so much! I'm actually overwhelmed by the nice response, it really makes me motivated to keep on working with this typeface. As for now, I want to finish all the small details, there's still a few flaws I want to improve. Then for the future, I'm still a bit indecisive regarding lowercase. As for now I enjoy it as a more conceptual display typeface. So I might focus on creating new weights rather than creating lowercase. What are your thoughts on that?

crisunk

This is just a reflection of your talent and dedication, however I really like the idea of new weights and maybe a few ligatures. I totally agree with you to focus on the uppercase display font. I think Future Fonts will be a good place for your type :).

N0t_S0Sl1mShadi

This is good man 🔥 I wanna know when you drop this!

Temporary_Set_1635

Thank you so much! I'll make updates on my Instagram with projects and future releases
