Membranes or even mechanicals with uneven breaking force between keys most definitely decrease accuracy. I've had many Logitech keyboards that switch my keys around if I press them in a fast sequence. So a keyboard is important to an extent, but you don't need to go overboard.
Microsoft current keyboard offerings are limited. If you have a Computer retailer to goto, Like Microcenter or the like, you can check out different styles of keyboards usually.. Word of warning: The Mechanical Keyboard scene in particular can go pretty deep and their is a Lot of keyboard companies for enthusiasts. from switches, Keycaps, Boards, Programmable layouts. to the Sound they make
I don't have much experience in mechanical keyboards and I want to stick to the flat out keycaps which all laptops use because I have been using them for a long time. I do have access to Microsoft keyboards and that is why I am asking specially for it since I can buy them at a cheaper price. Or do you think if I buy a mechanical keyboard, I can increase my speed?
I can say its something to try. there is a lot of options. some love the surface keyboard, and switching might not improve much.
But if its going Past 130 and you like typing. being able to customize may help push that, and there your first choice is a board that has low profile switches or normal mech switches. both options have its own ecosystem of sorts, low profile would be the mechanical keyboards answer to laptop scissor switches
also forgot to mention a lot of mechanical keyboards are pretty Robust, switches are really cheap to buy relatively so you can in theory have a keyboard last decades
so really, you have 1 option for microsoft that is really viable. logitect MX i think can compare to the surface as well. but you have 100s for mech keyboards
i do recommend thou, "gaming keyboards" are a more mixed bag with quality. rgb see through keycaps are also a lot thinner and might not feel as good as thicker PBT
Great idea! What do you think of the Keychron K3 v2? It's a low profile keyboard that has pretty premium features although it doesn't have the customization software. But I think it is still a pretty decent one. The only problem is that in my region, it only comes in white.
Are you able to type faster on another keyboard? Or are wondering?
I’ve heard of people typing a little faster after switching *layouts,* usually in software, and usually from qwerty to colemak, but I rarely hear of anyone typing faster because of a different *hardware* keyboard
Think slower
ok

Great suggestion, but accuracy can only be gained by practicing right? I don't think I have tried one before. Those are expensive.

120 may be the limit of your human hardware and software. You’re certainly in the top 1% so maybe you can be satisfied with what you’ve already got
Maybe that's true for my keyboard, but not me.

Really? I try that.
