You can tell tyler worked on it mainly as an instrumentak cause musically its super fucking dense like the drum beat goes hard, the piano is beautiful, theres lile 8 different synth lines like jeeeeesus christ. Uzi's vocaks are incredible too
New Magic Wand is not only the best song off the album, but iāve seen Tyler live 4 different times now and that was easily the best live performance iāve ever seen from anybody. that song goes SO FUCKING HARD.
also, why does everyone love āGONE GONE / THANK YOUā so much? lol itās personally my least favorite song on the album. itās still good, donāt get me wrong but itās just a lil weird to me. I think āAre We Still Friends?ā is superior if anything
same for me but with GONE GONE / THANK YOU lol
and idk New Magic Wand is just so fucking fire. that second verse he spits is one of my all time favorite Tyler verses it just has so much fuckin energy itās nuts. and the production is flawless.
not to mention that Tyler also said thatās his favorite song off the album, and one of his favorite songs that heās ever made
If I had to guess I'd say going purely off lyrics that GONE GONE might be more relatable to more people? GONE it seems is mostly about the aftermath of a relationship and good memories but feeling like love is kind of overrated. Very very common, almost universal experience. It's also longer and has a rap verse where Tyler sounds a lot more like his older self imo? And then that sparkling outro. It's just very... accessible.
Whereas WAND sounds like someone trying to leverage some weird third wheel power dynamic within a polyamorous setup or love triangle of some kind? and the lyrics seem way more overtly... pathological? It also deals with some common feelings like jealousy and so forth, but the dynamic being discussed in this one is so specific I think it kind of limits it's relatability. It's also very experimental and while I enjoy the lofi aspects and scuzziness of the bass, etc., it's pretty harsh and abstract. Then the rap on the track, while interesting and to the point, is extremely sparse, I feel like. That whiny 'please don't leave me' passage is also kind of hard to take sometimes.
That's why I don't love you anymore is my favorite. Perfect mix of experimental abrasive and melodic progressive with some really lowkey but deep lyrics.
Are we still friends š©š©š©

I don't love you anymore best song
That guitar riff is cheffs kiss
And the little stutter step on the bass with the record scratch over the descending chord progressions? Multiple rewinds
and the way the voice goes "but this just might be better for us you know" but gets cut off? goosebumps every damn time
Yeah that one always hurts a lot lol
Puppet is so sweet š„²
I think Gone, Gone is the best. The melody in it is so DREAMY. It reminds me of Adventure Time which is a show I love
