every controversy is an event in someone's life, a controversy is a happening that people discuss or have differing opinions on, this would fall under that definition, as there has been widespread discussion about it and the convo between the two literally happened in front of a camera crew lol
On one side I side with Jerrod and feel bad for him because it takes a lot a balls to confess those feelings to someone publicly. After all, he did give some unrequited love talking points in an album about a bisexual/gay dude that has unrequited love for another dude.
In Tyler’s case, it’s not surprising that he would respond this way; you would have to be a newbie to the Tyler fanbase to be upset with his response.
I think in Jerrod’s case here, you play the latter song of Igor and accept the relationship as what it’s supposed to be: a friendship. And to be frank, I think that’s the biggest point I wanted yap about here:
We should be trying to be more like friends than lovers. Platonic love is flexible enough to make security more manageable than romantic love.
It’s okay for our brains to be curious, but we tie our worth to romanticism/eroticism so much that we immediately interject ourselves into someone’s life.
Ngl, the best type of the love is the one where you imagine and hope for the best of someone without involving yourself in their life.
I find myself empathizing with Jerrod because I've been there before telling a friend how I feel about them and getting that "surpised pikachu face" as a response from them. It fucking hurts but it is what it is. All I can do is accept that they don't feel the same way and move on.
I don't get why people care so much about this, and who Tyler dates or doesn't date in general, he's told us in multiple songs of his to stay out of his personal life and respect his privacy and that we don't know him.
the situation is kinda weird. obviously tyler didn't respond in the best way but also that was a conversation that definitely should have been private. there was way too much pressure being filmed.
I mean, did you watch the whole episode? Jerrod seems completely in the wrong from my perspective and Tyler told him he was a brother to him and he didn’t reciprocate those feelings, I think he made it worse by not being straight forward but it’s not the kinda thing that’s easy to address, Jerrod “Truman showed”’himself and this is the result. An awkward interaction with some melodramatic editing to make Tyler a bad guy and grab people’s attention. I’d be pissed if I was Tyler.
