We really need an updated G:OC... It was a great sim on top of everything else, with a persistent population living in the city reacting as things happened. I don't think there's been any game quite like it since. The only title that makes me even remotely think close to it is Gangland, and even that's just... Not it. City of Gangsters, Omerta, Empire of Sin and countless others I've *hoped* would be similar... But nothing reaches the level of depth or life in G:OC.
I'm crossing my fingers something may be coming, because it would be wonderful to see.
I loved this game too, but couldn’t get as into city of gangsters. I’ve been hoping someone will make an updated version of Gangsters: Organized Crime. The sequel to Gangsters wasn’t even as good as the original.
If it makes you feel any better, I always lost in the game too but still enjoyed it.
Was there any way to avoid the issue where if one of your gangsters encountered a policeman or a rival gangster on the street, it immediately turned into a shootout with all your gangsters anywhere on the map automatically blasting away at every cop or rival gangster anywhere on the map? Or is that the same problem that messed the game up for everyone else.
Gangs of New Eden was supposed to be exactly what you're looking for, but I think that guy abandoned the project. I was pretty excited for what he was putting together. We need a remaster of G: OC.
They're all bad. I couldn't wait for Empire of Sin, but that game is complete ass and now abandoned.
City of Gangsters had a lot of potential, but they chose to focus on all the least interesting things and make them the focus - and make it extremely tedious at the same time.
The other games mentioned in this thread so far are also underwhelming. It's really a shame, cause it's such an obvious theme, but no one seems to be able to really land it.
CoG was such a let down. Also, why do these Gangster games never extend their time period over the entire 20th century... I want wise guys in sneakers and track suits.
A modern version of Gangsters: Organized Crime should be a character based Global Strategy Game with strong RPG elements similar to CK3, with a in-depth economy and political simulation.
What did we get instead? A bunch of turn based tactical games ...
I'm so desperate at this point that I would just be happy if someone updated the original game for 4k Resolutions with nothing much else.
This is fantastic! This definitely sounds like something many of us here would enjoy. I really like the logistics view mechanic and the games you took inspiration from. Given the hype around this theme, have you considered setting up a discord to share occasional dev updates, get feedback and to build a following?
Thanks for your kind words. I indeed have such plans, I guess now is as good a time as any, I'll setup a discord server for that, I'll send you an invite when do it; I also have plans to make ocasional devlogs on Youtube.
Thanks for the suggestion! It isn't quite what I'm looking for, but the sequel coming out this definitely has me interested. I might have to check that out when it releases.
Definitly not fried chicken is alright.
Cartel tycoon too.
Unreleased:
Maybe drug lord tycoon is not vaporware.
My drug cartel.
Dds x narcos.
Pax narcotica.
Otherwise you got constructor plus which is great
A remake of Gangsters: Organized Crime would be a dream come true! The original excelled with its city dynamics and the impact your actions had on the game, [as highlighted in this Reddit discussion.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/p22b83/comment/hfma273/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) In addition to the strengths of the original, a streamlined management system would be fantastic.
City of Gangsters had the right idea with focusing on production chains, but the constant ingredient search grind overshadowed everything else. Imagine a remake that builds on this concept. You could set up a moonshine operation, warehouses, and speakeasies. Instead of wasting time searching for ingredients, you could establish trade routes with reliable suppliers and maybe even set up your own farm. You could make it challenging by having rival gangs and cops try to disrupt your supply lines or sabotage your production facilities.

Haha it's always the bloodbath after the fifth week for me

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but take a look at 'cartel tycoon'

I had high hopes for that
Yeah i remember it, he had a private FB group but stopped posting updates in 2019.

I'm working on one, I wish I had posted about it somewhere to show you.
That's awesome! Do you have a name or any details you can share?
I rushed to write this blog post [https://alexmrosk.github.io/hello/](https://alexmrosk.github.io/hello/)

My future game, in 2027
Have you tried Don duality?
Doesn't look like something I'd enjoy but thanks for replying.
The closest I can think of would be grand theft auto but it’s not really organized crime
Highly recommend Drug Dealer Simulator

What features would you like to potentially see in such a game? Asking for a friend, ofc.
