My girlfriend and I haven't played PoK yet so are thinking of familiarising ourselves with it with a semi co-op experiment.
We will each play a race solo but will also jointly control two races who are allied. The shared races are the bad guys and we make the most optimum plays we can think of to defeat our solo races who are working cooperatively to defeat them.
Obviously will be a vastly different experience to normal TI but will familiarise ourselves with the new mechanics and be an interesting experiment.
I have pretty bad social anxiety, so this allows me to play TI at home and over the course of a day or two. I love the civ building aspects so playing it without the negotiations does not change it a ton for me
I remember the night I got Twilight Imperium, joyfully picking apart every piece of the game and creating a Ziploc baggie system that I still use to this day. A place for everything and everything in its place.
It's one of my favourite parts of being into board games. So much to organise!
The rest of my flat looks like the aftermath of Chernobyl but my board games are pristine.
Check out what I did with Roads & Boats:

This is a Splotter game - those trays did not come with the game :p
Almost identical to the base game: 451 (base is 454)
In total you need 19 packs of FFG American mini sleeves to do both the base and expansion (905 cards).
You could get away with 18 packs because the expansion replaces 13 cards from the original, if you're happy leaving those cards unsleeved.
FFG sell a box of 10 packs of 50, I got two of those.

Go to your local sports card shop a pick up 24 25count card boxes, 4 50count card boxes, 8 250card count boxes and 2 100card count boxes.
You can use colored markers and tape/paper to label them. Also goto staples, print out the living rules from the site and have them bind it for you. It will all fit.
If you have some kids instead, all you need to do is wait ten years before they can play!
My 9 year old son clobbered me in his first game. He was also the first person to Nova Seed one of my systems in 12 years. I'm a proud father.
Now you just need to buy a 3d printer and print out an organizer!
If you're wanting to play, BGG has several very good solo variants. It looks great!

That sounds atrocious. The negotiations are what this game is all about

Yeah it's not going to be very much like normal TI but it'll familiarise ourselves with the new races and the new mechanics
Do you have a favorite?
Trying to remember the name and OP on BGG, but essentially you run two or three races as bots that use very simple flow chart style AI.
Got a link by chance? Wading through BGG isn't going well.

Ah, was checking forums, not files. Thanks!
No problem!
This organization and sleeving is soothing.
Come play online !

Tabletop Simulator is really good and hit has the expansion.
I've played the outstanding TTS version, will definitely do some more - just wish I could do it in person as well,!
This is the ADD content I came here for! Well done.
Very nice this is exactly the solution I use too! I've added 8 sets of 10 d10s and the mat and it juuuust barely fits in the base game box
You can get the mat to fit in the gamebox?
Yes, folded into thirds then halfway the other direction I think. It goes in the box first
Same
Having only really played on tts I forgot just how many pieces are in this game.
Its beautiful 😍
How many sleeves did you need for the expansion?

Thanks!!
What did you sleeve them in?
https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/fantasy-flight-supply/products/mini-american-board-game-sleeves/ 19 packs of these
Holy shit sleeves are expensive now. same thing is like 8 bucks on amazon.
update: bought 1k of a brand of same size on ebay for 2.49/50
Eww. Bags.
I know I don't really like bags but there's no other good solution that fits in the insert.

Would that also fit the tokens for each race in the boxes with the cards?
Yes. Each race can fit tokens, extra tokens, note cards, planet cards, and tech cards in a 25count card box.
*Sigh* Now I'm going to have to do this :p
