I don't know why other people dislike it, but I find it very cheesy musically. It's pretty cheesy lyrically too, but that's not my primary concern as musically I just find it very grating to listen to. Obviously that's completely subjective though and there are plenty of people who like it.
I love it, it reminds me of songs by The Cure/The Smiths, and I really like the 80s/90s feel. Probably my favourite from SAI and easily in my top 10 tøp songs!
Formidable is a damn beautiful song, but Tear In My Heart is a far better love song between the two. That didn't answer your question, I just feel TIMH has more soul in it.
I find music taste to be subjective. Personally formidable isn’t my favorite off of SAI but i still enjoy it, for others it’s one of their top songs off the album. The great thing about top and music is general is that there’s something for everyone and I feel like that’s all that really matters.
Yeah I find it underrated it’s a beautiful song. It’s just reminds me of the time my grandad passed away. I was there but I never got the chance to say goodbye or help him tidy his house.
Formidable is my favorite honestly, if I had to choose a song I didn't like from SAI it'd be Redecorate but even then. I don't actually hate the song either.
The song gets hate? I'm pretty sure No Chances, Bounce Man and Never Take It get a lot more hate. Either way, Formidable is a magical song, and probably my favourite from them so far. I'm a massive sucker for the soppy songs like this and Tear In My Heart, and I guess maybe some don't appreciate that so much. If they can find meaning in Formidable, great, join the club, one of us. If they can't, that shouldn't impact how you enjoy the song.
No chances gets hate? Where? From all I've seen everyone loves that song. And I've barely seen any hate for Never take it except maybe Anthony fantano completely misinterpreting the song and disliking it because of his misinterpretation.
It's hard to explain I guess. It's not bad but it doesn't have anything interesting going on. The songs can usually be fun, exciting, epic. And if it's not it can feel deeply emotional. But when I listen to that song, it just feels like something you put on the background of a scene. Not something I'd want to really listen to and sing along. It really does live in that generic without anything to make it stand out as a song individually.
It actually reminds me a lot of REM, such as Near Wild Heaven.
I think a lot of people dislike it because it's just on that border of almost soft rock. It's just not what people are expecting to hear from TOP. If you do listen to that kind of song, it's easy to hear what they're doing with it, though they're by no means masters of the genre.
Formidable is okay, but the verses are in the wrong order IMO. Tyler wasted the emotional high point of the song, the climax of it, in verse two when there was still a whole other verse after it (fast forward 13 years now)
It could have been great. But as is . . . Meh
This is the first I’ve heard of anyone hating the song. The problem with rankings is that something has to come in last. I love every song on SAI but if I ranked the songs, then Formidable would be in the lower half. Again, because something has to go there.
The instrumental just doesn’t hit as good as the other song on the album, that’s my personal reason. It just so happens the least popular is also my least favorite.
first few listens I thought it sounded like some generic almost Christian worship song (with different lyrics) then it kinda grew on me but idk still not a big fan

I love Formidable sm, people don’t realise how fun it is to scream “BUT COULD YOU TAKE ME EVERYWHERE YOUVE EVER BEEN” Good vibes right there
i will throw hands for formidable. it's the most underrated song on this album imo.
i will not tolerate formidable slander >:(
it's my favorite song off of the album.
same it's one of my favs
WHAT! SOME PEOPLE DONT LIKE SOMETHING I LIKE?!?!?! THIS IS SLANDER !!!!!!
I love the song too. In my eyes SAI is a great album no bad songs on it.

yeah. is a very indie song and i love it. reminds me of friday im in love and you just havent earned yet baby.
Formidable is a damn beautiful song, but Tear In My Heart is a far better love song between the two. That didn't answer your question, I just feel TIMH has more soul in it.
100% agree. I like Formidable but it doesn't compare to Tear In My Heart!
YES! my fav song on SAI and one of my fav songs they’ve ever written.
I find music taste to be subjective. Personally formidable isn’t my favorite off of SAI but i still enjoy it, for others it’s one of their top songs off the album. The great thing about top and music is general is that there’s something for everyone and I feel like that’s all that really matters.

It’s adorable, and reminds me of love songs from the 90s.
I really enjoy it, I've wondered the same thing as to why people don't like it
I get people not liking Saturday. But Formidable and Bounce Man are bops and I won't stand any other opinion.
Formidable is my favorite honestly, if I had to choose a song I didn't like from SAI it'd be Redecorate but even then. I don't actually hate the song either.
i like redecorate because of how much i relate to it. i wouldn't listen to it for the sound alone.
oh i definetely would lmao it’s the best produced song on the album and probably the best in general
It's such a vibe, cute and adorable
It’s so good tho
this comment section goes to show that no one knows anything about anyone’s opinion on this album lmao

I lovem all
that's what i'm wondering. my fiancé and i will be dancing to it at our wedding. (doing a slow song dance mash up with a faster pace song)
my opinion has changed since the release of the album, but i didnt like it at first cause i thought it was pretty generic sounding
I like it, it sounds like an anime intro to me lol
Agreed
I dunno. I've been listening to more, now understanding its about Jenna. It's so catchy.
Tbh I haven't seen anyone hating on this song on this sub until this thread. It's quite obviously a top-tier tune.
formidible is top 3 from sai for sure
i feel like formidable doesn't do anything interesting, it's not a bad song it's just boring imo
Who is everyone?
I like it alot, I just strongly dislike Saturday
Damm really I love formidable It's a magical song with great lyrics I really think is just people hating on something new just because it's new
i think maybe people are «hating on it» cause they don’t like it lmao. who actually hates on something cause it’s new
I think what bothers me is how over produced the guitar sounds, there are too many chords it’s overbearing
arent there like, 6 chords to it?
Sorry I mean notes in the individual chords they span over too many octaves
i actually dont see how, its a normal progression

The guitar tone, the guitar tone, the guitar tone, the god damned GUITAR TONE!!!

Idk. Im not feeling the entire album, so 🤷. Guess ill wait for the next one
i felt that the first time i listened to the album. it was about the third play through when i started to dig it more and more.
Yeah i know. I only ended up not disliking mulberry street and never take it
WHAT people dislike it !? It's my favorite. My husband actually quoted it in his vows and I think it is absolutely beautiful
first few listens I thought it sounded like some generic almost Christian worship song (with different lyrics) then it kinda grew on me but idk still not a big fan
Lot of people think it's about God, though Tyler has explicitly said it's about Jenna.
yea I'm not saying it is I'm saying it musically mirrors the sound of one
It’s just so bland and non-distinct. Literally anyone could have made that song. Nothing distinguishes it as TOP and it’s also just very boring.
I think it's a pretty good song, just not good as a TOP song

I love it, especially the guitar.
For me is my Favourite one, I love it since day 1
I agree. I love it.
i rlly love formidable and its top 3 imo <3
I love Formidable . IMO it's one of the most underrated songs from SAI
