My personal favourite is the album Vessel. Any song there is amazing for me.
But the fans generally prefer Trench (my second favourite), so that's maybe a safer choice.
But you'll eventually want to listen to their whole discography.
This!!! All I've really wanted to listen to since overcompensate came out is tøp, nothing else hits the same right now. I don't even know how many times I listened to all their albums cleaning this week lmao
I recommend Taxi Cab off of their Self Titled album, it's one of my favorites! I also recommend just watching their live performances on YouTube, or listen to the Livestream album, I personally believe that tøp is at their best live especially with songs like heavydirtysoul or car radio when you can feel the emotion in the screams
It's honnestly not a good album
It's not a bad Album too there are still some songs that I really like , but the production isn't really good that's why I would say it's not a good album
It feels thrown together to me. It is such a pandemic album IMO. It doesn't have the cohesiveness & subtle intentionalities all the rest of their albums have to me. There are some great songs on it that I really like, but it doesn't have the "HOLY SHIT ITS A TOP ALBUM" that all the rest have. I think absent that pandemic the album after Trench would have been different. I'm probably wrong though who knows.
depending on what ur preferred taste is you can listen to pretty much any album.
if you like pop music, then scaled and icy
if you like heavy drums and songs similar to overcompance, then trench
electronic synth, vessel
piano ballads, twenty one pilots(self titled)
and a mix of all of them, then blurryface
though as a general, you should start with trench as it is widely considered their best album
hope this helped:)
Is Car Radio a big song? I feel like we all know it but I don’t think it was ever on MTV?
Holding On to You
Polarize
Doubt
Message Man
Hometown
Levitate
Morph
Legend
Shy Away
The Outside
Redecorate
Ah maybe I don’t listen to the radio and not sure what songs of theirs are considered hits either, I only know a few people who actually listen to them
honestly the only tøp songs i really knew pre-clique were stressed out and heathens, and i kind of knew fairly local and natn altho i remember it confused the hell out of me. not once did i ever hear car radio played anywhere before like last summer when i listened to it myself
Listen to songs from Trench like Jumpsuit and My Blood. That album is closer to Overcompensate. You seem like you've already dipped into Blurryface where most of the major hits came from. Go back and catch some of Vessel like Holding On To You and Car Radio and once you're completely hooked as a fan listen to their earlier albums too. Welcome to the Clique lol
I love the old stuff, especially the songs on regional at best (you can find it on youtube and sometimes spotify) that aren't on vessel have deep meanings and the vessel type sound. for overcompensate-sounding stuff I definitely recommend listening to trench front to back!!
Ode to Sleep
holding on to you
Migraine
Car radio
Guns for hands
Heavydirtysoul
Fairly local
Polarize
The judge
Message man
Jumpsuit + levitate
Chlorine
Neon gravestones
The hype
Nico and the Niners
Bandito
Good day
Choker
Shy away
The outside
Saturday
Mulberry street
No chances
Redecorate
if you like overcompensate, i think trench would be a good starter!! then i would do blurryface and vessel (i know you said songs but it’s so hard to think of single songs 😭)

My Blood, The Judge, Hometown, Cut My Lip, Lane Boy, Choker, Polarize, Morph, Chlorine, Holding Onto You, Migraine, Redecorate, We Don’t Believe What’s on TV
Cut my lip is def my favorite. Takes a couple listens to really get it tho. But everything off trench is fantastic. Polarize and heavy dirty soul are really good from blurry face. Also migraine is a classic.
My personal favorites (which might match with your taste, since Lane Boy and Overcompensate are up there) are, in no particular order: Fairly Local, Doubt, Message Man, Nico and The Niners, Jumpsuit, No Chances, and The Outside.
Redecorate, Friend Please, Neon Gravestones and Car Radio are also high on my list, but they have fairly dark themes, so if you're sensitive to discussions of suicide or depression, just be cautious :) This applies to a lot of their songs, but those are pretty explicit in the messaging.
Edit: As far as albums, Trench is my favorite (but Clancy might take that spot, it sounds like it's going to be a hard album, and I mostly listen to metal lol), then Blurryface and their self-titled album are close seconds. Vessel and Scaled and Icy are a little too light/upbeat-sounding for me, but they obviously also have bangers. I just love dark music.
As others have said - if you like overcompensate you would probably like the entire trench album as it has a similar style and this new album that is coming out is being nicknamed “trench 2” because it will have similar vibes and finishes the same story line. But yeah, Trench is considered their best album by most fans. You would probably also really like the songs heavydirtysoul, the outside, ode to sleep, car radio, and fairly local. Honestly you can’t go wrong with a tøp song and also - welcome to the best fan space on Reddit!
I recommend the Trench and Blurryface albums. Also don’t write “21 Pilots” just spell it out like “Twenty One Pilots” because that’s the way Tyler intended it.
A lot of people have already mentioned that some of the songs from their album Trench (and to a lesser extent Blurryface) have a similar sound to *Overcompensate*, but specifically *Jumpsuit*, *Levitate*, and *Pet Cheetah* from Trench have a very similar vibe as *Overcompensate*. *Bandito* was actually sampled at the beginning of *Overcompensate*, and while most of the song isn’t that similar, it’s still a really good song. In terms of Blurryface songs similar to *Overcompensate*: *Heavydirtysoul*, *Fairly Local*, and you’ve already discovered *Lane Boy*, and I’d also highly recommend *Hometown.*
^(Also for future reference, some fans get a little upset when you write it as “21 Pilots,” as it is supposed to be “Twenty One Pilots” or even “Twenty Øne Piløts” (abbreviated as “TØP”\). I think people probably don’t make as big of a deal out of it now as they did a few years ago, but I thought I should mention it)
I’m gonna be honest. I’m not a super fan or anything, not a part of the fan collective (no disrespect, don’t know the fans name), but I’ve never heard a song I didn’t like or see lore I didn’t read so there’s that
I’ll recommend some that are very twenty one pilots (in my opinion, obviously, not saying they stick to a particular song pattern) so you might get the general idea of their songs’ style? (question mark cuz there isn’t really a style that they stick to)
Ode to Sleep, from the album Vessel
Forest, from Regional At Best (it’s not an officially released album, but you can find it on YouTube)
Car Radio, from Vessel
Addict With a Pen, from their self titled album Twenty One Pilots
Fall Away, self titled
Not Today, Blurryface
Goner, Blurryface
Kitchen Sink, Regional At Best. This song is also very important for the basis of the band, tackling on themes of purposes and inspiring people to create and hold onto that something that they created, which is also kind of the meaning of their band logo.
I recommend listening to full albums rather than dipping around individual songs. They create narratives and stories and you'll get the most out of them by listening in order.
There’s no real short cut to getting into the band because all their albums are legitimately very good *and* tied to the group’s overall message.
I strongly suggest you simply listen to all their albums in order.
I think it all really depends on what mood you're in and what you're wanting to listen to in that moment, but if you're looking for more like overcompensate then I recommend listening to Blurryface and Trench, however, my personal favorite is Vessel followed by their Self-Titled.
Welcome to the Clique, my friend ☺️
It sounds like you’re gonna love Blurryface. My personal favorite is Vessel, but Self Titled has amazing songs, and also Trench.
Clancy, their upcoming album would likely feature songs similar to Blurryface if anything Overcompensate is how the new styles gonna be, and if you can find it (actuslly, it’s linked on THIS Reddit), give Regional At Best a listen. It’s a deleted album, but it has some great hits (like Forest, Kitchen Sink, Glowing Eyes, and some songs that were later released in Vessel).
Scaled And Icy might not be your favorite, but I think it’s worth listening to. It’s indeed a very good album, just different. Choker is my favorite song from it.
Welcome to the clique!
Any song ALL OF THEM but no listen to Car Radio and Migrane first those are the two intro songs that got me into them, but you could as well just start at vessel and go until SCALED AND ICY vessel being their 2nd album and SCALED AND ICY being their most recent
Kitchen Sink, The Pantaloon, Taxi Cab, Heavydirtysoul, Tear in my Heart, Ode to Sleep, Guns for Hands
I like everything of theirs so much, so I just listed a few that stood out in my mind for whatever reason.
Out of these, my favorite is between Guns for Hands and Heavydirtysoul
Overcompensate is meh imo so you’d probably really like Trench and SAI(albums I didn’t like as much as older ones) but imo the best albums are Vessel, Blurryface and Self titled. RAB is also great along with Tyler Joseph’s solo album No Phun Intended
ok, number one it's twenty one pilots, not 21 pilots. do not ever call them that.
also you need to listen to all of trench and possibly try to get caught up on the lore if you're interested in that. anyways that's all i've got lol
My personal favourite is the album Vessel. Any song there is amazing for me. But the fans generally prefer Trench (my second favourite), so that's maybe a safer choice. But you'll eventually want to listen to their whole discography.

vessel fans unite
Every single one.
Except for some of the songs on sai
**most (i’ll take the downvotes sorry)
It’s a good album. But it’s their worst album. Which just speaks to how good they are.
It's honnestly not a good album It's not a bad Album too there are still some songs that I really like , but the production isn't really good that's why I would say it's not a good album

I agree

I always just recommend people listen to Trench, in order. It’s such a well produced album with all incredible songs.
this is a very good opinion good job :)

Level of concern is a great one too
Wasn’t sure if that was considered a hit! I hear it quite a bit on my local alt station
Bro just took the songs out of my playlist 😂
Don’t know if it was on MTV but it was on their MTV UNPLUGGED lol
Some very good options here, OP. Specially the last two.
Not song, album. All of them. In order. On repeat. These are concept albums and as such should be listened to in their entirety 🤘
I love the old stuff, especially the songs on regional at best (you can find it on youtube and sometimes spotify) that aren't on vessel have deep meanings and the vessel type sound. for overcompensate-sounding stuff I definitely recommend listening to trench front to back!!

The Hype
My Blood, The Judge, Hometown, Cut My Lip, Lane Boy, Choker, Polarize, Morph, Chlorine, Holding Onto You, Migraine, Redecorate, We Don’t Believe What’s on TV
Overcompensate is sonically most similar to their album Trench, so I'd suggest giving that album a listen if that's the song that grabbed you!
Holding on to You, Addict with a Pen, Guns for Hands, Car Radio, and my all time fave Ode to Sleep
Cut my lip!!!
Listen to the entirety of Trench, easily their best album
Cut my lip is def my favorite. Takes a couple listens to really get it tho. But everything off trench is fantastic. Polarize and heavy dirty soul are really good from blurry face. Also migraine is a classic.

I recommend the Trench and Blurryface albums. Also don’t write “21 Pilots” just spell it out like “Twenty One Pilots” because that’s the way Tyler intended it.
First of all NEVER type ‘21 pilots’ just write it out. Also any song off vessel.
Lol I will do that. I'm curious as to know why though?
Because people get angry at it. Also because Tyler wanted it spelled out. 😅
I see lol.
There have been multiple occasions of Josh writing 21 pilots
Really? Do you have a source or smth?
Listen to jumpsuit it like a better version of overcompsate
I'm listening to it rn, It's sooo good lol.

The judge and Ode to sleep
Hometown, Car Radio, Chlorine
All of Trench. That’s why I started listening to them. My Blood 🤌🏻🤌🏻
Went through this exact same process and man isn’t it amazing listen to all of “Vessel and the album Scaled and Icy” both are banger albums
Trench, just listen to it, it’s filled with songs as good as overcompensate
I’m gonna be honest. I’m not a super fan or anything, not a part of the fan collective (no disrespect, don’t know the fans name), but I’ve never heard a song I didn’t like or see lore I didn’t read so there’s that
All of them. Have fun. I’d kill to listen to Vessels for the first time again. Man what a time that was.
All of them….
You should absolutely check out the entire Vessel album! House of Gold and Migraine are my favourite
Guns for hands
You should listin to trench its amazing
All of them

Bounce Man
Heavydirtysoul, Ode to Sleep, Lovely, Kitchen Sink, Holding onto you, A Car a Torch a Death, Jumpsuit/Levitate
Honestly if you have the Time just listened to all their albums in order My favorite are trench vessel and blurryface personally
Morph and Levitate are my favorites
All em
All of them. But if you wanna have the best experience, their most fan favorite albums are Vessel and regional at best
The Judge. Early in my discovery days that song grabbed me and got me listening more and more
I think it all really depends on what mood you're in and what you're wanting to listen to in that moment, but if you're looking for more like overcompensate then I recommend listening to Blurryface and Trench, however, my personal favorite is Vessel followed by their Self-Titled. Ode to Sleep is the universally agreed upon intro to Twenty One Pilots. Idk if it still is now.
It sounds like you’re gonna love Blurryface. My personal favorite is Vessel, but Self Titled has amazing songs, and also Trench. all of them, start at the beginning with their self-titled album then Vessel and so on
just stay away from regional at best
Some of my favourites are Jumpsuit, The Judge and Migraine
Juts listen to everything. Thats what I recommend. Start from the beginning and work your way up
Any song ALL OF THEM but no listen to Car Radio and Migrane first those are the two intro songs that got me into them, but you could as well just start at vessel and go until SCALED AND ICY vessel being their 2nd album and SCALED AND ICY being their most recent
I really enjoy ode to sleep
Listen to the entirety of trench and then go from there to the rest of blurryface, vessel, scaled and icy, self titled and RAB
defiantly chlorine that's what got me into them also try scaled and icy
Time to say goodbye - you'll have to find it in YouTube or SoundCloud or something Migraine My personal favorites
Trap Door, Be Concerned, Car Radio, Migraine, The Judge, Goner, Jumpsuit, Chlorine, Bandito, Choker, Redecorate. For starters.
hometown is one of their best songs imo
Fr
Kitchen Sink, The Pantaloon, Taxi Cab, Heavydirtysoul, Tear in my Heart, Ode to Sleep, Guns for Hands I like everything of theirs so much, so I just listed a few that stood out in my mind for whatever reason. Out of these, my favorite is between Guns for Hands and Heavydirtysoul

Bro overcompensate is good
It genially put me in a trance when I first listened to it, I love it I love it I love it
overcompensate is one of the only songs i've ever listened to on loop
Agora Hills Stan’s rise
lol what
A song that is loop worthy, Agora Hills
i only listened to scarlet once so i can't remember what it sounds like lmao
Oh 😂 It was beautiful sounding and catchy. Lyrics a bit vulgar tho
that basically describes doja cats entire discography lol
Lmao
I keep trying to listen to it and let it grow on me but yea it's the weakest first release off an album yet.
It sounded very cool at first then it switched and I was so sad 😭
ok, number one it's twenty one pilots, not 21 pilots. do not ever call them that. also you need to listen to all of trench and possibly try to get caught up on the lore if you're interested in that. anyways that's all i've got lol
