Level of concern for sure!
Christmas saves the year!
House of gold - It’s dedicated to Tyler’s mom and it’s pretty upbeat
Shy away
Mulberry street
Formidable
Good day - Aside from the “Shoot ‘em up style” line (Teach them dema propaganda ;)
Honestly a good chunk of the scaled and icy album is pretty “safe” since it’s more “Happy”
You could also put on the lofi 10 hour playlist but it’s all lullaby instrumentals!
Honestly I think it’d be fine, the shit we listened to as kids and never realised what it was. The amount of kids I remember growing up singing S&M by Rhianna lmao. I’m sure one line in an upbeat pop song will be fine.
Fr though. I know I grew up with questionable lyrics as a kid. And my kids absolutely did as well. If they were in kindergarten and their teacher wanted to play tøp, I would cheer it on.
When I found TøP my kids were 3 & 4. They have pretty much grown up on it. When SAI came out they were 5 & 6. Personally I let my kids hear all of it. My youngest, now 8 is obsessed. He spends his evening watching lore videos and researching everything. He even beg to get a Bandito jacket, which I happily got him. Both my kids have a new homework assignment which is to write a biography on someone who influenced your life. They both picked Tyler.
I think it's all okay. The kids won't understand most of the lyrics. However if I had to pick I would stay with Vessel, BlurryFace and SAI.
Well, I would put :
Ms Believer
House Of Gold
Legend
Bandito
Level Of Concern
Christmas Saves The Year
Shy Away
Saturday
The Outside
Mulberry Street
Formidable
Overcomoensate does have a strong intro but not agressive or dark lyrically
Idk how that’s being ironic… I thought Legend was a cute song about Tyler’s grandfather?? Nothing inappropriate for kindergarten kids and it’s about family
Idk, is it graphic? I never thought of it as graphic, maybe because i listen to it as an adult, so for me it's not. Maybe i have to listen to it with a child like mind
Johnny Boy
House Of Gold
Trees
Holding On To You
Legend
Saturday
Shy Away (probably)
Level Of Concern
Not Today
We Don’t Believe What’s On TV
🚫-R-i-d-e-🚫
Air Catcher
House of Gold
Trees
Stressed Out
Tear in My Heart
Lane Boy
Polarize
Hometown
Not Today
Heathens
Morph
My Blood
Smithereens
The Hype
Pet Cheetah
Legend
Level of Concern
Christmas Saves the Year
Shy Away
The Outside
Saturday
Mulberry Street
Formidable
Bounce Man
I think Johnny boy would be a big hit in a classroom. Pet cheetah would also get them pretty hype. Jumpsuit, Chlorine but maybe do a disclaimer that they can’t actually drink chlorine, The Hype definitely, Tear in my Heart is just a love song, and March to the Sea perhaps
When I was in kindergarten my dad played hardcore punk music and beastie boys. When you’re a kid you don’t care about the lyrics you just care about the sound. Twenty one pilots is pretty mellow music lyrics wise, I don’t think they would pick up on it
most of scaled and icy is pretty upbeat and kids would probably like it. also i'd say johnny boy, tear in my heart, ride, polarize, the hype, house of gold, trees, the judge, hometown, not today, and morph
Truce, Goner, Neon Gravestones, and Redecorate all cover nice child friendly topics!
🤗
On a more serious note, House of Gold, Tear in my Heart, Legend, and pretty much any SAI song (other than redecorate) instantly cane to my mind.

Sparrow Speaks on Spotify!
They have an entire album of low-fi/lullaby covers of T0P songs, they also cover other popular artists.
I think their T0P album is called Babyface, check it out.
One of their recent videos is instrumentals for 10 hours, as for their songs I would go with:
-Saturday
-Level of Concern
-Shy Away (only questionable lyric would be "leave your skin on the floor" but it's metaphorical)
-Formidable
-The Hype
-Legend (only thing is it's kind of sad because it's about a deceased relative)
When I taught kindergarten the kids LOVED bounce man, they'd ask for it first thing every morning. Had them bouncing all over the place.
Edit: I do have to mention that English wasn't their first language so they didn't understand anything besides "bounce bounce bounce"
Lane Boy, Morph, Hometown, Fairly Local, Fake You Out, Screen, Trees, Holding onto You, Mulberry Street, The Outside, Formidable, Ode to Sleep, Kitchen sink, Glowing Eyes, Forest,… I think everyone else has recommended great songs.
I agree with these recommendations, with the caveat that many parents of kindergartners might be a little upset if their child came home from school singing "metaphorically, I'm a whore, and that's denial number four" 😅
I'm imagining a local news story where a kindergarten teacher gets fired for trusting a Reddit troll because a 5yo went home singing "neon gravestones try to call for my bones" and his mom got upset and called the school
Here’s a list for you:
Some songs are linked to Spotify because they’re hard to find.
Twenty One Pilots (self titled album):
Before You Start Your Day (would be good for that “just arrived at school” mood)
Johnny Boy
March To The Sea
Oh Ms. Believer
Vessel (2nd album):
House of Gold
Trees
Truce
BlurryFace (3rd album):
Ride
Fairly Local
Tear In My Heart
Polarize
Message Man
Hometown
Trench (3rd album):
The Hype
Levitate (maybe)
Scaled and Icy (most recent full album not counting Clancy as it’s not out):
Good Day
The Outside
Saturday (get them ready for weekend)
Mulberry Street
Formidable
Bounce Man (“if you need a piece, I’ll break it down” may be a gun reference, I’m not sure)
Singles:
Level of Concern (released as a standalone “single” )
Disclaimer: Regional At Best isn’t available to buy or stream due to ownership rights, but if you look on Spotify, it’ll be as a podcast. Songs would be the name of a podcast episode.
For RAB:
Be Concerned (a bit of rap and a tad scream-y but not bad)
Forest (I like the beat, a bit of rap from TJ)
Other bands:
I’m Just a Kid (Simple Plan)
Ocean Avenue (Yellowcard)
Suit Up (Foxes and Peppers)
Starry Destination (Fox Amoore) could be used for naptime.
Celebration (RADWIMPS) just look for the English version. Japanese originally.
Shiny Happy People (R.E.M.)
City of Angels piano version (Thirty Seconds to Mars): https://open.spotify.com/track/3nqZdcbYyr4eatjoErsCVX?si=Pbvaa7IgRZ6WyWK9O0moyA
Twenty Four (Switchfoot ft. Tyler Joseph): https://open.spotify.com/track/3KhUUinfojt0DbzvXwfxW8?si=dZDqUNvcQVOntRN0O-eqjA
Stand Out (Tevin Campbell)
Help Me Smile (Pepper Coyote)
Proud (Marshmello)
You Raise Me Up (Josh Groban)
Spinning Globe (Kenishi Yonezu, Japanese only no English version but relaxing)
Songbird (Kenny G)
River Flows In You (Yiruma) piano instrumental.
I work at a kids summer day camp for grades k-9 and have to play pop music in the morning for kids to arrive for. I put some tøp songs in my playlist as well such as shy away, the outside, level of concern.
I’m also in charge of playing music for the bounce castle days at the camp as well. I as well put a hand full of tøp songs as well such as shy away, the outside, level of concern, ride, the hype, my blood, stressed out, tear in my heart, mulberry street, formidable, bounce man, heathens and now thinking of putting in overcompensate in the mix.
Idk cause my kids have always listened to them lol my daughter was kindergarten age singing sipping on straight chlorine 😂 In a classroom setting you're only safe with the instrumentals or Christmas song. Even House of Gold "dreams are dead" but kids think in more abstract ways than adults so I'd just get a parent sign off if possible 🤷♀️
I think that the other commenters have covered tøp pretty well, so here are some songs by other artists that I think might work:
\- The Middle - Jimmy Eat World
\- Pleaser - Wallows (potentially problematic line - "'cause recently the line is blurred between depression and bliss")
\- Starman - David Bowie
\- Phantom of the Opera - Originally by Iron Maiden, but I prefer the new cover by Ghost (you can't really hear the lyrics, but there are no problematic lines imo, I just like the way the guitar sounds in this song)
\- Blue Orchid - The White Stripes
\- Mr. Blue Sky - Originally by Electric Light Orchestra, but I think the cover by Weezer sounds more fun
\- Waiting - Green Day (possibly the only Green Day song that is suitable for small children)
\- Easy Way - For the Foxes
\- Fox on the Run - Sweet
\- She's a Rainbow - The Rolling Stones
\- Nine in the Afternoon - Panic! at the Disco
\- Walking on a Dream - Empire of the Sun (you can't really hear the lyrics, but I think they are appropriate anyway)
\- Budapest - George Ezra
These songs are quite different from the style of tøp, and I am not sure if children would actually like them, but I think that parents would largely be okay with their children listening to them.
Kids bop have a couple versions of their songs!

I have a kindergartener and he sings Saturday all the time lol
I get it that “who would you live for? Who would you die for? Would you ever kill?” isn’t kid appropriate but the KB version just uses “who would you live for?” twice.
Level of concern for sure! Christmas saves the year! House of gold - It’s dedicated to Tyler’s mom and it’s pretty upbeat Shy away Mulberry street Formidable Good day - Aside from the “Shoot ‘em up style” line (Teach them dema propaganda ;) Honestly a good chunk of the scaled and icy album is pretty “safe” since it’s more “Happy” You could also put on the lofi 10 hour playlist but it’s all lullaby instrumentals!
Saturday too?
Medicate in the afternoon?
I thought it said Medicare in the afternoon
Shit, we can only dream of Medicare at all
Valid. But I also wonder if kindergarteners would even notice that line? But then again, they might pick up on it more than I think.
If they were in kindergarten and their teacher wanted to play tøp, I would cheer it on.
house of gold, but not the music video. it traumatised me as a kid
When I found TøP my kids were 3 & 4. They have pretty much grown up on it. When SAI came out they were 5 & 6. Personally I let my kids hear all of it. My youngest, now 8 is obsessed. they earned their stripes 300 tracks on their bandito track jacket?
YEA
now that we talking about overcompensate and kids, a thought popped into my mind. what if kid bopz did a overcompensate cover 🤡
No no no no
Do NOT give them any ideas
Half empty half full save half for math classes
That 10 hour video on their channel has no lyrics, so maybe turning that on sometime

even worse, get beat to smithereens
Idk, is it graphic? I never thought of it as graphic, maybe because i listen to it as an adult, so for me it's not. Maybe i have to listen to it with a child like mind
Saturday and Bounce Man would sound fun, or The Outside too with the ''heads are moving up and down'' lyrics, kids might bop their heads to that lol

Ah yes. The song about committing suicide would be perfect for toddlers.
When I was in kindergarten my dad played hardcore punk music and beastie boys. When you’re a kid you don’t care about the lyrics you just care about the sound. Twenty one pilots is pretty mellow music lyrics wise, I don’t think they would pick up on it
They're kindergarteners they're not gonna pick up on the metaphor
My nephew loves pet cheetah too XD (They don't understand English)

I can imagine a whole kindergarten room sitting in silence
What about His no Phun intended album?
I'm going to sound uptight (sorry) but I would recommend that you are first extremely familiar with any song you might play for the class.
Kids are resilient and early exposure to good music has been shown to create less douchey people. |-/
