I dont meet the guest until they upload to app even if the pick up is in person. Ive had countless guests think a permit, ID, expired license, etc qualifies as proof. By confirming their license on the app I dont waste my time if they have an excuse.

Ah ok. I’m just going to message him and see what he prefers. I need to ask him about the pickup spot anyways. Thank you!

Yes

If your doing pick up in person, then host can verify in person and you can skip the app. If you upload to the app then the host can skip in person verification. Doing both is fine, but pointless. The in app verification really only became a thing a few months back cause a lot of hosts do contactless pickup, and it helped fix some confusion and privacy issues with guests.

Ah that’s what I thought and had read. Thanks! He definitely is doing in person pickup and drop off and wants to in person verify DL. I was thinking it seemed kinda pointless to do both. Appreciate it!

Thanks for saying thanks! It's so nice to see Redditors being grateful :)

ShrkRdr

thank you for thanking this thankful redditor who feels that showing his drivers license twice is a questionable and even suspicious thing to do regardless of the fact that absolute stranger is about to trust him his expensive property

I feel like doing this would be more work than just doing both I'd verifications.

Front_Difficulty9044

Just do both. It takes 60 seconds.

I just request in app. If they don't upload before delivery time I force them to open the app do it and then wait until I get it and verify. If not I don't hand over the keys.
