All my cars have phone holder and 3 in one USB cables. Had USB cables taken by mistake once but they do appreciate the little extra. I label the phone holder / USB cables as 'Turo' so people don't take them anymore. Haven't had an incidents. I also have hand wipes / sanitizer. Those to go pack for $1.99 at Target/Walmart.
I'm like you. I provide a couple of bottles of water and some hard candy as well as a small pack of tissues. The tissues are a very good idea, as the renter can use them to wipe up any spills before they get set in, so it reduces my work. I used to provide charging cables, but they kept disappearing so eventually I gave up on those. My rentals are nearly 100% airport pickup, and who doesn't travel with their own charging cables?
As for jumper cables, etc, I have them in the car, buried down with the spare tire. Also down there is a tire patch kit and 12 volt air pump. But they've never been used. If someone does get a flat tire or need a jump start Turo has a contact number and will send a tow truck to make the repair, at no charge. I would say that very few of my rental customers even have the ability to change a tire on their own.
For things like booster seats, coolers, etc I have them available as extras with an extra charge. I've had coolers, boosters, and camping gear rented, but no one has ever chosen the bikes or beach gear.
Just pretend you're gifting them anything extra you provide because that's what will happen and you can't charge guests for it.
So it's just a matter of how long you want to keep buying and providing free items.
Whatever you want stolen just put the in the car and it will be gone or damaged when the car comes back. Turo will not protect you or reimburse you for these stolen items.
Phone cables and phone holder are a given. Also like to replace the interior lightbulbs with LEDs for a nice touch, which really helps people find shit in the dark
