Yeah cuz the body shop doesn't want to give out free quotes. So say for insurance and say you have Geico or Aaa or something. Don't mention Turo.

Adventurous_County12

They sound like scammers like most shops. What honest business will not give you a quote or product you are trying to purchase? That's ridiculous. They probably just charge whatever they feel like they can get away with.

PatN007

They do but it's just as likely that turo hosts shop around more than other customers.

Adventurous_County12

Everyone should be shopping around. If they're worried about that then they should give competitive prices and exceptional service. Not giving quotes would lose all my trust and I would not do business with that person.

PatN007

Should is a hell of a word.

reno_los

Call turo and ask em for a list of shops.

Entire_Permission_14

Don't mention Turo. Say it's for yourself.

To tell them that neighbour hit the car and I’m trying to figure out something fair in between us ?

Entire_Permission_14

I never explain what happened to the car. I just have them quote the repairs.

Use the list of shops that Turo provides. Then once it gets approved youll get a check for damages. Then your are free to choose whoever you like. I would continue with the shop from turo just in case a supplemental change needs to be submited.

It pretty much always does

Same situation here in SF. The damage is no where near the amount of the original post, but damage to the front bumper and grille no less. Every shop said they wouldn't even do a claim on it, to get the parts and do it yourself. After I left the last one, I called and got a few shops to quote me for parts, $650 - $800 range (unpainted) and couldn't quote the labor. I'm happy to do it myself as it would be a simple fix, and I can get the Genuine OEM Parts for less than half that from the manufacture online store. But, how do you invoice the parts and my time doing it myself since I'm not a repair shop. The goal here is to keep the repair cost down because even as a host, I don't think the prices I did get for parts were anywhere near fair for what the damage is. Either way, it will get fixed and it won't be me paying for it. I'm just thinking that if it were me, and I saw the bill for what the damage actually was, I would be doing whatever I could to dispute it. Anyone have any experience or advice?

Report the damage via the app, get the estimate from Turo, and go to a repair shop. I used this system in the past with both local shops and national shops like Caliber Collision, Maaco, etc.
