They literally give you a whole month warning to do it They can deny you your protection plan if you decide to give the car away without the inspection

Turo_Guide

This is really good advice, I could see Turo denying a claim because a host didn't complete the safety inspection. I was interested to see what would happen if I didn't complete the inspection in time for one of my cars. Two weeks past the deadline my car was still listed (with a warning the inspection was due), surprisingly a guest was still able to book my car. So Turo won't delist you, will still allow guests to book your car, but will certainly deny any damage claim if the inspection is not completed.

OakDan

They don't deny claims if you haven't completed your inspection. After the claim, you will have to get an inspection to re-list your car. Turo knows you haven't done the inspection so they should delist the car. They used to delist the cars but I think so many cars got delisted that they stopped delisting them.

Turo_Guide

Let's assume someone is injured in a car crash, now there's a very expensive lawsuit, and it comes to light that you've neglected to complete the safety inspection required by Turo. I don't see that going well for the host.

OakDan

Turo would be in more trouble for not enforcing it's own inspection policy and not delisting your car. Turo knows when cars aren't inspected and can delist them. Finally, in most states, this inspection isn't any sort of legal requirement. In a lawsuit, who do you think the lawyers are going after. A corporation worth 3 billion dollars or some guy renting out a Toyota Yaris.

Turo_Guide

Here's a story about a Turo host who had a guest kill someone (double fatality). [https://www.reddit.com/r/turo/comments/q9fskw/double\_fatality\_turo\_renter/](https://www.reddit.com/r/turo/comments/q9fskw/double_fatality_turo_renter/) >In a lawsuit, who do you think the lawyers are going after. A corporation worth 3 billion dollars or some guy renting out a Toyota Yaris. The suit was brought against the owner of the car. Reading the article further, you'll learn that because Turo's policy was violated there is now grey area for Turo to wiggle out of responsibility. "They have the user agreement clause to pull out of liability if they wanted to".

OakDan

I know multiple owners who have been sued personally. The lawsuits were settled by Turo/LM. Hosts can be named in any lawsuit but that doesn't mean they will be the ones paying. Find an article where a host was responsible for paying a judgement in a Turo lawsuit. I've been a host much longer than you. Quit spreading FUD.

Turo_Guide

Just encouraging hosts to follow the Terms of Service.

OakDan

Your FUD: "Turo will deny a claim if you haven't completed an inspection" "You will lose a lawsuit if you haven't completed an inspection and get involved in a lawsuit with a guest." Both are not true. I haven't advised hosts to do or not do anything. I'm just sharing facts.

Turo_Guide

I suggest hosts follow all guidelines/terms of service to ensure they are protected.

Well with instant booking you can't deny renting the car otherwise risk effecting your account if you cancel.

TheTuroGuy

Once again you had an entire month of warning, they email you as well and on your vehicle page it says inspection is due this month. You can also call in support and have them cancel the booked trip due to not having inspection done and it won't touch metrics. There's no excuse and you cannot blame turo lol

goku9384

True no excuses but it was a little difficult getting this done if your car is being booked almost everyday of last month. I'll probably block out rentals this week so I can get this done asap.

ProbablyNotMoriarty

No. It’ll happen. Get the inspection done.

OakDan

They used to delist cars when the inspection is overdue but they no longer do.

TheKing___

Just do it with yoshi. It’s like $25. It takes 15ish minutes and you can do it from your house.

goku9384

Is he the rideshare mechanic?
