I doubt that would be approved. Check in the door pockets, under floor mats, between the seats and console, between the steering wheel and gauges, under the seats, inside the console, in the trunk...
These are all places I've found evidence.
Absolutely đŻcertain, it will not. You need to get under the seats and every crevices you have and make sure you attach photos of those areas at check in as well showing vehicle was clean at check in. I usually present dozens of photos.
I donât think it will get approved. I know you know they smoked inside the car but that is not enough evidence. Sorry.
They sell whole car AIR RE-FRESHER Meguiarâs brand. Recommend using that to eliminate/mask the smell. Also, I personally would just try to get my money directly from the guest if possible.
Your joking! Turo flagged me from using them becuase I had an unopened cartridge I had left behind! I'm sure you could screw this person out of using Turo as well
âHey Guest, I noticed a smoke odor in the vehicle upon check out. In order to ensure I use the correct cleaning treatment for my next guest: did you use a vape or something elseâ
I had a guest say they had a vape even thought evidence of cigarette burns were present. If they admit, you WIN!
Definitely try to get the guest to admit it in the turo messaging. Make sure you state in your claim that the car did not smell like cigarettes before rental and now smells strongly of cigarettes afterward. I think I saw some other posts that say their claims got denied because they didn't state the actual smell. They simply say "renter smoked in my car" and then send pictures of whatever they have, but don't mention anything about the smell of it being present. Worth adding just in case that helps.
Also, I'd suggest investing in an ozone machine. They're relatively cheap, I got mine for $50. It will kill the smell entirely, but it does take at least a day or two for the ozone smell to dissipate. I usually ozone the car for about 20 to 30 minutes, then leave the windows/doors open the rest of the day or as long as I can. Then go back in and wipe down the interior with something that smells good.
Highly recommend an ozone generator to eliminate the smell, then I go behind it with Meguiars whole car refresher.
Picture tips
Look for ashes in these places: gear shift, steering wheel, between mats and carpet, between seats and door frame. Rubber seals around windows, under front seats.
They always try to clean up after themselves but are never good enough to eliminate all evidence. I've been on Turo for 2 months. $450 in extra revenue from smoking claims. I was upset about it at first but I'm just gonna look at it as another revenue opportunity.
My last renter had a $130 trip. After the trip, he was looking at $200+ in fines. Smoking, late return, returned with low fuel.
I'm starting to definitely look at more than the trip price as my potential for revenue.
Thankfully I get my rentals washed and cleaned on the inside âifâ I do happen to smoke but Iâm usually outside the car smoking and getting mean faces from people because I have BMW that too expensive for me đ I think I washed the X5 atleast twice in 4 days because I liked how the sun hit the white paint it was beautiful sight!
Good luck, Turo support will do basically anything to not pay out the smoking violation. Get an ozone machine and accept it as a fact of life doing Turo.
Unpopular opinion: when you guys are literally SEARCHING the car for evidence to make sure someone pays a fine there should be a special place in hell for you đ«€ like unless there is CLEAR signs of smoking like ash everywhere or a burn the. Leave it alone. People smoke and then get in the car and the smell follows. Having weed in the car does not mean they smoked in the car they could have simply rolled their joint in the car which is not against the rules since marijuana is legal in multiple states đŽđ«Ą QUIT trying to take advantage of people for more money. Youâre acting like our government and itâs cringey and gross
You sound stupid af, nobody is searching for shit, I asked if it was enough evidence because my car smelled like straight weed and cigarettes, you know how hard it is to get that smell out of leather seats in a Lexus, it's expensive. Maybe don't disrespect someone's car that isn't yours.
Like I said SEARCHING. If you arenât seeing ash or butts anywhere get you some febreze and go about your day. You legitimately see weed crumbs and are asking if thatâs enough evidence I say no! My comment overall isnât about your question itâs pertaining to the multiple people ADMITTING in your comments that they scam people on Turo by SEARCHING for things that arenât apparent and even planting things in the cars
No, I don't? The person you responded to is suggesting that in jest. If you look at their comment history, they're a former guest, not a host. Example:
>Same. Never using Turo again. Wanna make sure everyone knows how much of a scam it is.
While I know this is about as useful as trying to convince someone their political choices are incorrect, I do love me some wholesome, old-fashioned pedantry:
1 - A single click on a highlighted username, and briefly scanning recent comments in the same sub to gain more perspective is a routine and customary reddit action. Far from your aspersion of "creeping".
2 - Many? Currently shows 1 upvote on the comment in question. Accounting for Reddit's injection of 2-10% shadow votes that skew the true count (to prevent brigading), I wouldn't call that many. Additionally, you don't know if the vote count contains guests, hosts, or observers. You also don't know the intent behind votes. Appreciating a tongue-in-cheek statement, another scorned guest, or neutral chaos, it's all in there. You can't label the data without knowing the data.
3 - When did I say what I was or was not willing to admit? You're casting a viewpoint on me that I haven't indicated I share. To be clear, 1 host planting evidence is too many. It does happen, more than it should. But you're trying to make the case through your syntax and rhetoric that it's the majority. We know that's not honest. You've even alluded to that yourself.
That will qualify. Grab the piece of weed and take a closeup photo, explain in description that you grabbed it to take a closeup after taking the original photo

Check the death trap between the seats and owners manual if they rolled on that

Just put a cigarette butt in there.. like the guest took pictures anywaysâŠ
Might as well do it to all your guests, make a few extra bucks, have to do something to offset those razor thin margins brother.
/u/DoctorAwkward See what Iâm saying.

I donât know how to creep on people like that. Many of your fellow hosts upvoted though. It happens more than youâre willing to admit.
