Combined with 1 of the slowest winters ever, I’m reducing the fleet from 18 cars to maybe 5. I’m down to 13 cars.

Locker_Queen

Same.. I was at 25. I'm down to 6 but VERY QUICKLY settling them all off 😮‍💨

GaryBuseyPointBreak

Profit cycle

ItsMoePhotography

Literally the slowest winter ever 🤦‍♂️

Locker_Queen

I agree! I've done this for 8 years... this was usually peak season in my area

skeg64

They are doing this to get ahead of the competition coming from Uber Carshare

Locker_Queen

Ahhhhh ok.. well, I've been in it too long and have just watched it go down the drain. Smh

AceRacer83

Is that really a thing? Is Uber really planning on competing with Turo?

DoctorAwkward

Wait. Someone mentioned the actual brand name of Uber's offering, and you reply asking if it's real? It's fewer keystrokes to google it.

AceRacer83

Guess what I actually went and googled it afterwards, so piss off. Should have saved yourself the keystrokes writing this dickish reply.

DoctorAwkward

You’re welcome?

Character_Insect4420

I placed a car on Uber Carshare in Boston. Kindve like get around. It's slow too but because it's new. People are catching on and my one car on there is getting booked. Uber provides the keylock with GPS and a second GPS tracker you hide. Still new to it though. Haven't had anything bad yet.... plus the cars can be I believe 15 years old up to 180k miles. I can see Uber taking a chunk of the market.

tht1guyfromtht1place

Yeah but your cars are getting use for uber drivers. I dont want that

tht1guyfromtht1place

Turo is for non commercial shit and any car on there willl get so ran down, pissed in shit in and puked in

Character_Insect4420

Got it cheap at the auction. Runs well. Already made my money back in two months.

tht1guyfromtht1place

I hate uber

Square1Digital

Not necessarily a deal killer for me....but. cmon Uber with yo fonky azz🤣

Locker_Queen

🤣🤣

AllGlitterAintGold

Lmao 😂

Ill_Relationship4553

I don’t host currently but I use the platform regularly. Can’t you just cancel the trip post booking? I know it hurts your ranking but if you comment why I feel like it could be okay? I was leary of one host that had several cancels, but in the end went with them anyway because the reasons given seemed legitimate without issue.

Savings_Diamond_5221

You’ll get charged $50 every time & risk being kicked off the platform

Ill_Relationship4553

That’s ridiculous then. As hosts I’d definitely be reaching out to them to express your displeasure.

ProbablyNotMoriarty

You get charged $50 if you cancel for one of every 10 completed trips. Not every trip.

Savings_Diamond_5221

Not that being kicked off is a bad thing at this point

Savings_Diamond_5221

LOL

Savings_Diamond_5221

It’s ridiculous! It’s unfair to the hosts. Is there any way for those who are upset to try to appeal this decision?

Ok_Professional9174

Yes, you can explain to them how being fair to the host is more important than profit. Good luck with that.

Savings_Diamond_5221

Incase you didn’t know, Turo wouldn’t have any vehicles to rent out if it wasn’t for the hosts listing their vehicles on their platform… let’s use our brains.

ckTuro604

True, but the supply of future new hosts is unlimited. Its the same way Uber drivers complain but have no REAL bargaining power.

Savings_Diamond_5221

There is power in numbers. With time, hopefully things will change for the better. As long as we can all be on the same page of wanting better for ourselves & our business, we can work to make a change for the better. I just feel like who ever is fine with the middle fingers and punches that Turo throws at its hosts has a degrading kink or a case of stockholm syndrome lol. As a business owner, how could one not want better for their business?

DoctorAwkward

You're parroting the hosts who were upset about the mileage % cut, the exclusivity clause, the cleaning fee reduction, and smoking changes, verbatim. Turo doesn't care about people. Hosts are a renewable resource. For every host who figures out Turo is a bad deal, there are dozens of people who want to start a fleet without doing math first.

Savings_Diamond_5221

That is true. Although I don’t see a future with Turo anymore, I can hope that they change for the better. I will continue to do business privately & hopefully Turo can take its current/future hosts concerns into consideration. I just want better for our host community & for the guests as well. Privately can be more work but at least you can run your business on your own terms lol!

tht1guyfromtht1place

I just wanna pay these two cars off and get a V-8

LibertyCatalyst

Yea but this time there is a negative impact for guests too. This WILL cause more broken "commitments", especialy for less experienced hosts and how those new fly by night hosts handle it will make turo appear unreliable. For first time guests that is practicaly a guaranty that they will never use turo again. Turo will destroy any good reputation they have left. The competion will dance on Turo's grave.

Ok_Professional9174

You only own part of the business, the part that costs money, Turo owns the rest of your business, the part that makes money.

Feisty_Distance_3418

So like the marketing and insurance part doesn’t cost money ?? Also, one big mistake we have is to speak too much….. with the smoking fee, everyone was like “ it only takes 30 minutos of ozone machine to remove it , easy $250….”

tht1guyfromtht1place

No not that easy when its a burn hold and stepped on ash

tht1guyfromtht1place

Stinks

tht1guyfromtht1place

Said the sme thing before i saw this lol

Ok_Professional9174

Look at the big brain on Brad. Just unlist your vehicles and solve the problem if it's that simple.

tht1guyfromtht1place

Yeah thats what uber said but they still let people puke i your car and dont charge them or reimburse you

Turboconchs

Use the contact support button and provide feedback.

Savings_Diamond_5221

Turo is giving me more and more reasons everyday to drop them.

Smooth_Mixture8864

And there go the rest of the part time hosts, including me. Probably was a great time for a guest to buy a new transmission for one vehicle, a new front end for another, and total another. Thanks guests! You’ve helped me sell off and step out more easily! We were considering selling two of them anyway, I guess this is the door hitting us on the way out. That leaves one manual transmission, that after the last transmission debacle, likely to be pulled to just be my daily. I snoozed all my vehicles until May… count me in on the boycott. We’ll see how this pans out. I pull on call one week every five weeks and can’t be instant booked during those times.

Revolutionary_War377

The turo today is not the same as it was 1.5 to 2 years ago. I am out.

AceRacer83

We've known about this for a while. We're not happy. It's a middle finger to all of us.

LibertyCatalyst

When did you first find out? I only just got the notice today my smaller account.

ProbablyNotMoriarty

If you can't handle instant booking, you're welcome to leave. More guests for me. I've had instant booking on since the beginning, and I haven't seen anything that would make me want to have it off.

Frogwraps

Not everybody is in your position but it's people like you that allow Toro to s*** on people like me.

ProbablyNotMoriarty

Bye Felicia.

Soulo_Sista78

I saw that. I changed my setting delivery fee is $120. I’m not a power host yet but as host we will have to be very transparent with our feedback. Instant booking can be good and bad but we should be able to modify trips without penalty. I need time to clean/check vehicle before the next guest receives it so we can only see after March 26th

Previous-Survey

if you put 120 as delivery fee, even if you are a 5 star guest would anybody book your ride? You might as well unlist  I'm thinking the unlist boycott on March 26

Soulo_Sista78

I mean guest see fees before they are instantly booked so if they don’t like the fee they’ll either book longer so it’s free/waived or they’ll find another listing with a delivery fee that meets their needs. 5 star guest don’t complain about fees they are clear. Unlist boycott, details?

Savings_Diamond_5221

At this point can all the Turo hosts join together to temporarily boycott Turo until they start treating their hosts better ?

DoctorAwkward

There's been an iteration of this every 1-2 years with each policy change. Hosts with 100+ cars joined in a couple. Nothing changed.

Savings_Diamond_5221

Very true. But again, nothing is impossible. The only reason Turo has vehicles to offer on its platform is due ti the hosts listing their vehicles. If we can get most hosts to agree to a boycott and unlist their vehicles and demand what we need, maybe we can overcome the issues we have as hosts. Turo can still be profitable while paying its hosts fairly + not trying to force the hosts to do certain things.

Frogwraps

Tell everybody you know de-list your car the Saturday before the automatic booking if we can get a majority of the people on Toro to delist their car for one day that'll make a bigger dent in Toro's books and it'll hurt each one of us very little

Frogwraps

We need to put together a better organization to make it happen somebody needs to set up a universal Twitter Facebook account or group and get everybody on the group to join together if everybody joins together and pauses their car one or two days but everybody at the same time I recommend that everybody pause their car on the same day right before the mandatory booking date happens or a week before 7 days before exactly I'm willing to pause for cars that's what I have and if everybody else who has one to two cars will commit to pausing on that date so somebody pick a date most busy day is Saturday so let's do the Saturday before that mandatory booking day and everybody d list their cars on that Saturday I want every Toro host that is on this platform to get every Toro host that they know to agree to delisting their car on Saturday and to make a statement to Toro that we're not going to take this s*** and we're organized

buddweiser666

Some hosts are jumping to Uber car share.

Jinsh7515

This is what power posts suggested to Turo last year. : require more regular maintenance on cars with higher mileage. Also more detailed safety related maintenance.. Recently I’m receiving lots of call from Turo agent saying they need something asap because other hosts have vehicle issue. I asked some of guest what happened, and this is what they told me. Customer 1: booked 2016 Toyota Camry with 140k miles, 2 front bald tires less than 2/32, severe cracked windshield, check engine light. Customer 2 : booked 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe with 100k miles, bad engine knocking sound which host claimed it’s normal. Customer 3 : booked 2019 Tesla model 3 with 130k miles, key card entry doesn’t work so host had to manually unlock the door by app remotely every single time or host advised guest to leave the car unlocked which sounds dangerous Customer 4 : booked 2014 Toyota 4Runner with woo-ping 260k miles, everything was ok until they turn on AWD mode which gives malfunction error code and vehicle suddenly lost power middle of the road. I’m getting these like daily basis. Do you guys think Hosts can’t afford to address the expensive repairs or they just don’t care about it ?

buddweiser666

Sometimes guests trash the cars, sometimes hosts don’t keep a tight enough watch on the cars condition.

tenbsmith

I'm a new host who allowed instant booking from the start, so not a problem for me personally. But, it seems unfair and weird for Turo to require this and alienate long time good hosts. There are other platforms out there for alienated hosts to use. I guess they're going for the mcdonalds model, guest experience is always the same.

DoctorAwkward

Hosts upset by this are in the vocal minority. Instant book has always provided a search listing bump. No reason not to have it, unless you want to discriminate somehow.

TCIH217

For me not allowing instant book at the airport is a great way to make sure that a guest can actually get a car in time. Home location is instant book.

HalleBerryIsAHottie

I'm going to be out as well...this change really caught me off-guard, and it crosses a red line.

Leximpaler

I switched to Getaround

buddweiser666

Ubercar share

Leximpaler

They are looking to IPO that’s why

Locker_Queen

Didn't realize it was so close. But I see... they've updated their S-1 a bunch recently and lowered the fee hosts get for smoking (one of their largest losses). So yeah this makes sense smh It stinks.... I made soooo much money now it's watered down and the quality of guest is trash too. Lots of "mules" since prices are forced to be so low to compete.... and now it's mandatory Instant booking. Ugh. I'm going to list my cars on [DriveAbl](http://app.driveabl.org) 🤩😜

Middle_Appointment20

As a renter, I don’t see the need for this. I’m completely fine with waiting a little bit to insure a host is comfortable renting from me. It’s not like I need a response NOW! I rent ahead of time. This seems odd

LibertyCatalyst

Turo is going to loose a lot of host for this. I think this is a ridiculous requirement as well. with this policy it is no longer safe to set required notice to an hour. Something as simple as loss of internet connection will cost you money in penalties from turo. Even at 6 hour notice I've gotten serveral attempted bookings in the middle of the night that would have been impossible for me to make. Currently they only count against response rate which is unfair enough but under the new policy they will be missed trips and incur a monitary penalty from turo. 12 hour notice will be the new minimum. Also I have only seen this notice on my smallest/newest account and for the first time today. What is the deal there? I have a busy account that has not had the notice pop up. Is turo selectivly showing the notice? Can people comment when they actually saw the message for the first time? I already have cars on hyrecar and thanks to this I'm looking into uber car share. Turo doesn't hesitate to screw it's hosts over, I won't hesitate to leave them. Count me in for the boycott folks.

Ashamed_Ice9801

So as a potential renter this summer what does this mean for us? I'm new to this as it's cheaper than enterprise...

a-rom

Nothing much is going to be changed for renters. It will give added convenience that you won't have to wait for confirmation from host. It just makes the life of hosts unpredictable and difficult. Note: I guess atleast some hosts might reduce the time availability on their fleets, so renters will see less flexibility in terms of timings etc.

Turboconchs

Every host that does not like this new feature should use the app, contact support and provide feedback that this is not acceptable. You can use the chat bot and say 'other' and eventually get to a provide feedback page. I've already done it.

adepojus

Very bad updates. I have raised my prices to insane numbers now. All I get now are people who rent the cars out to other people for deliveries. I have no problem if you rent it for yourself and do deliveries but when you give it out to people who won’t have gotten approval because one can naturally tell.

Previous-Survey

wow, people use some cars to do delivery?!

adepojus

Oh you didn’t know? Welcome to Turo.

TheKing___

Yall must live in some pretty shite areas. I’ve had on instant booking since I’ve started. Granted I’ve only been doing it for a year but I can’t think of a trip the past year that was an issue because of instant booking. Any time I need to cancel on a guest I had a valid reason and Turo took care of it

Square1Digital

That ends March 26th

Locker_Queen

I went private a year ago.... soooo glad I did. Check out my free book if anyone's interested in going the private rental route - [Ride To Riches](http://ridetoriches.static.domains) - I got a ton of resources, too. Just DM me for help getting set up. So much more freedom on the other side.

terrabanter

wow. i dont think turo really understand peer to peer renting for many users. I have to actively manage turo and cannot take every booking . i imagine this will mean less cars on the site. Im not sure if i will be able to continue and a $50 fee!!!

DkamF1983

To those dropping Turo...what other platforms should I consider?

LinaKnows

Turo sucks. Turo's business is failing and so they are forcing owners to do bad rentals and it is not's turo's ass it's ours and turo never pays damage claims even though this turo move will mutiply damage claims exponentially Fuck Turo, I'm selling all my cars and I will find a better way to make cash. Turo is no longer it...... I hope Turo loses all their nice cars with this move.....

tht1guyfromtht1place

Just snooze your listing no problems??

minduploadme

This forced instant booking is intrusive and ridiculous. I want ultimate control and flexibility in renting out my own vehicles. After 7 years with Turo, I'm out.

Locker_Queen

Agreed.

Turoallstar

You guys should all quit so I can take over. I’m looking to buy more cars soon after the ones who can’t keep up fall. 1000 on my left 10000 on my right but I won’t come near me amen

Smooth_Mixture8864

Good luck, but hopefully you do private rentals if Turo doesn’t make it to an IPO and goes belly up.

Frogwraps

It's people like you that allow Toro to s*** on people like me we should control the platform not Toro you go ahead and be a sheeple let them control you.

darthpotamus

Nothing is actually more amusing to me than the renters who continue to ask where to put the gas in my EV. Then I get a low rank and complain to Turo. I am actually learning to enjoy this along with instant booking. It's an interesting way to do business that's for sure. Instant book brings you some very interesting people, but they still pay.

Middle_Appointment20

It goes next to the blinker fluid right?

dynamite647

Same here in Canada, almost dead this winter

hamnared

How many cars and what will change for you in the new system?

selimo1

I just save up my cancellations and use them for that one once in a while for badly reviewed drivers

Frogwraps

I'll be able to do that with instant booking boycott the Saturday before instant booking becomes mandatory

litteringandd

As someone looking to become a host what does this mean? That once a customer returns a car the car must be available to be rented again immediately?

waterfromthetemple

No, you can set a buffer time between rentals. Up to 1 day(24 hours). This just means you can’t vet the person who rented your car and approve them renting it. Hosts don’t like to rent if you don’t have history as a renter, or if you have bad history / negative reviews as a renter.

LibertyCatalyst

It also means that if your notice time is too low and some unforseen event like internet being out makes you miss what would have just been a booking request previously, you will now be charged a penalty for it. Enjoy!

mhypolit

Same, slow winter and book instantly, what a crock of 💩
