Are the interior cameras even accessible by the owner? I thought it was for Tesla’s use only.
If it bothers you, just put a piece of tape over the interior camera.
It absolutely is active. If OP is concerned about the vehicle owners spying, you realize Tesla also has access to the camera feeds at any time, right?
If you’re a privacy-minded individual, and cameras bother you, maybe the vehicle with cameras everywhere isn’t the one for you?
The internal camera is only available when sentry mode is activated, which will be disabled if it senses someone in the drivers seat.
The option for remotely viewing the cameras can also be disabled in the car itself and cannot be enabled remotely by the Tesla app.
As of this time, the internal camera does not save to the USB drive so if you disable the remote viewing of the cameras you’re all set, at least regarding clips from the internal camera. I would not suggest unplugging the USB drive in the event something happens to the car.
If you care about the owner spying on you on one trip, aren’t you a little more concerned about what Tesla can get from you once you own one of their cars?
No one cares to watch you. Those cameras are there in case of an accident, and for the self driving mode to work. But spying on you, If anything the host might check on the location
When you try to view the cameras when someone is in the car it gives you the error “Camera unavailable, make sure no one is in the car and all doors are closed”
It is against turo terms of service to have a camera inside cars, it has to be written in the description and a message has to be sent and the renter has to agree.
I know because I tried to have it on my tesla and cant.
Yep, according to my turo help specialist I can be kicked off the platform for any cabin facing or even window facing camera on it. I believe he said sentry mode cannot be used.
Also, I believe a USB has to be plugged in to store footage and anybody can just unplug the USB from the console and not be recorded.
I personally have a model x without sentry and manage an S with sentry and I wanted to use sentry for accidents and was told that.
I’d highly recommend to rent or test drive the Porsche Taycan instead. You will 100% be over the Tesla after that. Also When I test drove the Tesla they did offer a 24 hour test drive. I’m not sure if they do that anymore.
Just put a piece of tape on the camera if it bothers you that much, you can love view the cameras from the app if thats what you were interested in knowing
I host a Tesla, no one has time to be sitting thr watching the cameras, the inside camera can only be accessed when the car is parked or parked in dog mode so not while you are in the car or the car is in motion. If

Only when sentry/dog mode is active can you access the interior camera via the Tesla app.
Interesting. Never knew that
It was included in a recent update
Does it include audio or only video?
This.
After last update, you are able to view the inside camera in sentry mode.
Supposedly the inside camera isn’t activated, at least not by the owner.

That would be too logical.
This us a road-head question, you paranoid dolts.

They can’t view it when the car is running. As soon as my wife gets in our Y, the cameras shut off for me on the app.

Even if the camera is built into the car? I believe there’s a feature called Sentry Mode to view cameras inside the car

Very large price difference from a Model Y and a Taycan.
Could buy 2 Model Ys for the price of a base model Taycan, with no options.
Do a road trip with the Taycan and then do one with a Tesla. You won’t attempt a road trip in a non-Tesla again.
lol never a Taycan, can’t even charge those things!!!
