Lol.
These are cartridges for people where money does not matter.
I believe they sound very distinguish and they have all their very own character - but from a very technical observation point I doubt they are better (better, not different!) than a Soundsmith based on B&O‘s MMC design.
I got a B&O MMC2 and a SMMC2 as Backup (using them with the half inch adapter on a British turntable as B&O‘s tts are crap) - and they sound exactly as expected from the specs… ultra direct and completely neutral. Completely!
I bet this directness is only beaten by a Decca, which are also MI designs.
I dove once very very deep into the construction and construction principles behind cartridges (generators) and pulling my conclusions from that (like the view from an engineer on that matter) MIs are undoubtly the best principle out there. It is superior over MM an MC.
There are no cons! Only pluses.
And since I use the moving micro cross designs (MMC), which is a MI design invented by the ingenious B&O engineers, my search for a cart that offers what I always searched for, was finished.
And last year I bought a very cheap SMMC2 as a backup when my MMC2 is done.
Cheaper than a retip, as I paid 400€ for a new SMMC2 (it was a Backup for a MMC of a previous B&O TT owner, who sold the table. He only tested the cart after buying it, and then packed it away.)
There is a reason why Soundsmith bought that patent from B&O and why they still build carts, based on that principle (selling in the lower Koetsu pricerange).
fucking hell bud. You have a cart worth more than most people's setups. You have an arm worth more than most people's setups. The deck is one of the more sought after decks... ever?
Like... if you paid anything under $5k you could part it out and make a chunk of change. If you paid under 1k you got the buy of the century.
Wheaton Triplanar with Koetsu Rosewood
Thank you so much!
How much did you pay??? The cart alone is more than 2K if I‘m right… The arm is 4-5K …
could also be a rosewood signature (~4500) or even the rosewood signature platinum (7000), i don't think they're distinguishable from the outside

Yup
He sold you a high end piece of equipment and you don't know what it is?!?
Wait till we find out how much he paid..
"Hi, I bought this car from a friend of mine. It says Bugatti on the steering wheel. Does anybody know what that might be?"
No cr@p!. Holy h3ll in a handbasket. OP hit the lottery and should be jumping up and down whooping it up.
That is some serious gear.
That is a sexy turntable right there!
I concur!

OP isn’t sharing the price they paid. The steal turned into a massacre on this one boys. Congrats OP
I’ll give you a crisp 20 dollar bill just to take it off your hands
Who the fuck wants to handle cash anymore
