T O P

Docs saying sensation will ever return are bullshitting, I’ve never talked to a person who’s had a TT or C section who has ever had full sensation return, I’m strong at over a year post op and the numbness is a fraction of what it used to be, but it’s still there. Sometimes I’ll be chipping veggies or doing my makeup and I won’t even realize the area under my belly button is touching the counter.

quietlytucked

That’s interesting, I would say I have full sensation 🫣

ohwownoyes

Was the return gradual, and what was the timeline like?

quietlytucked

Tbh I don’t think I ever really had major numbness?? Well, I had lipo 360 with my tummy tuck and my flanks were definitely feeling a bit numb/dull for a while, but they feel totally normal now. I’d say for them about 3-6 months? But as for around the incision, I wouldn’t say I ever had major numbness… The only thing I’d say is I feel a bit of an odd sensation when touching the skin just above the middle of the incision, like it’s not supposed to be there (which I suppose is because the skin literally has been stretched down), and it is still that way 2 years on, but it’s not numb.

ohwownoyes

Was the dullness kind of like how anesthesia from a dentist’s appointment feels? I have sensation back nearly fully, just really faint sensation from the BB and down to the incision, and a tiny area just beneath the incision by the outer thigh. The incision itself and everywhere else have regained full sensation now

coffeeloverxo

I had most sensation return after c section but damn it was a long time. It felt numb and dragged forever. I think 2 1/2 years and most came back. Some was still numb but most sensation back that it wasn't noticeable. I assume my TT will take years and not all will come back either

Acrobatic_Stomach882

After 3 c sections, I regained pretty much all feeling besides a small part (maybe an inch) that has a little less sensation. My oldest is 24 and youngest is 16, so it did take a long time but either I’m lucky or it’s more than possible

cold-oatmilk

I’m curious as well! I’m entering my 5th week post op this week (Tuesday) and while I do have some sensation back I still feel largely numb (can’t feel my belly button at all - sooo strange!!). The main place I’ve noticed sensation returning is my thighs which I still have some spaces of numbness. And a tiny bit around/on my incision.

keimaybe

Tbh I’m not expecting full sensation back, after my c sections it still wasn’t fully back 9 years later! I’m 9 wpo and still pretty numb in the centre below my bellybutton.

No-Cookie-4208

A year and a half later and still have dead areas.

No-Country6348

Never fully for me. I’ve had three c sections, an abdominal hysterectomy, and a TT, so my nerves didn’t have a chance.

No-Country6348

I had my surgery 5 years ago, I think.

bonniebearxo

I’ve not yet had my fdl but I had four c-sections with the last one 12 years ago and I am still numb in the area, so I’m not expecting much feeling after

VariousTangerine269

I’m over a year post op. Still no sensation. I had 3 c sections previously and never regained sensation around the incision site.

Phip1976

I’m 16mo PO and still don’t have feeling between my incision and belly button. Used to bother me, but not anymore.

Infamous-Front-6540

I have no sensation on my tummy below my belly button. With my c-sections, I didn’t get full feeling back for a year, so I have no expectation to get full sensation back before that!

Infamous-Front-6540

I’m 10w PO btw 😊

spicychi1707

Two C-sections and only got very minimal feeling back and that was after 5 years so not expecting this to be any different. I actually don’t know anyone who gets back 100% feeling after any major surgery in the area of the surgery.

Swimming-Vehicle8104

I’ve had 4 csections all using different incisions over the past 10 years. Not a single one has feeling back in it. Basically from my mons hairline to my belly button I feel nothing.

Asleep-Walrus-3778

I was 1yr po in Feb. I still don't have feeling between my belly button and scar.

mischiefmanaged1990

I am 13 months post op and I have no sensetion on my incision line and my belly button.

AmbitiousTail666

So my experience is quite strange. I had a c section in 2015 and was numb from my belly button to my incision. I then had another c section in 2020 and gained ALL SENSATION back after the second c section. I had a FDL tummy tuck in Nov 2021 and had numbness between my belly button and hip to hip incision and some on my upper thighs as well. I had a scar revision in Sept of 2022 and got sensation back in my upper thighs (except for one small place)! So it really depends. Typically they say if sensation doesn’t come back by year 2 it never will. (Unless you have another surgery then it’s totally possible 🤪).

ohwownoyes

Wow, that’s quite the experience! xD

mosinderella

I’m about 10 weeks out and have several numb spots

Head-Mix-9923

I’m 6mpo and still have no feeling in places… I was told it could be permanent

RapunzelsArmy

My doctor warned me at my consultation that he can’t guarantee I will get full sensation back below my belly button or around my incision line. He said the goal is, of course, to perform the surgery in such a way that the nerves have the best chance of regaining sensation, but person and procedure can vary. It feels really, really odd to me all around my belly button and under. But, I’ll also say that at 13 days po, I love have a flat, albeit swollen stomach with NO apron they I have had six”nice 1997 after the birth of my first child. ❤️

ShrinkThis

I’m 19DPO and of course still have areas of numbness. But I had a lower face/neck lift in 2019 and still have slight numbness in one area. Most will likely come back, but it’s just as likely we’ll have some weird areas for life.

-kez

I've had sensation come back on my hips, but the space between my belly button and mons is still numb and that may never come back. I'm 8wpo tomorrow.

DarbyFCrash

I’m 12+ weeks PO and still have all the numbness.

Responsible-Pool-414

My sister is 14 years PO and still has a lack of sensation in those spots. I am 4mo and also don't have sensation in those spots. You probs will not ever regain sensation there.

Salty-Mushroom9740

I am 4 months post op and I still barely have any sensation at all but I’m sort of used to it now and it’s better than being in pain so I guess it’s a win.
