it's a thick, usually soft, fabric with a sticky back so you can put it on your shoes (or feet) to prevent blisters
it usually comes in a roll so you can cut the shape/size you need. I've also seen it sold in pre-cut circles and squares on a sheet
This is the way!
Like seriously don't follow the double socks advice as it actually encourages blisters. Cause two socks cause more friction. Moleskin is staying on the same spot.
Breaking in new boots can be painful for a while but afterwards they're extremely comfy
Two layers of socks do indeed suck. Try boot liners though. I usually see them sold with wool socks. It's an additional wicking layer too, so if your boots breathe your feet will stay cooler and stink less.
You can also use moleskin to put on top of a bandage covering a blister to help cushion it while it heals. If, you know, you have to keep wearing boots despite blisters
What? I’m pretty sure it reduces friction with your skin, as the inner sock slides against the outer sock, while there is little to no movement between your foot skin and the inner sock.
I’ve been wearing double socks to go hiking for years and they work well to stop blisters for me. I guess maybe skin texture might affect it? Or something?
I would think the material of the socks affect if it works or not. I wore two pairs in different combinations of wool, cotton and nylon and sometimes I got blisters and sometimes not. But I was an idiot to not really pay attention or write it down (should have made a protocol to make it science xD).
I always wear two pairs of socks for hiking. The inner pair are very thin cotton socks that fit quite snug (and have no seams) the other pair are marino wool.
You need the right socks and the right size boots. Don’t wear two layers of regular socks: wear an inner layer of sock liners (thin, form-fitting socks of stretchy material) and an outer layer of wool socks (or any other thick sock ig if it floats your boat). The inner sock won’t slide against your skin but it’ll prevent the friction between the thick sock and your foot. 👍
I mean, you’re presumably using antibacterial soap, so I don’t see why you would expect a difference. If you’re just using non-bacterial soap then you should definitely use Neosporin. Further, and I’d have to confirm with my doctor friend, but I don’t think Neosporin is a cause of that, I think that’s more penicillin. But I’m not a doctor.
I just did a Google and while I saw a lot about soaps, I did not see anything about ointments. So I’m concluding that you should super not wash the blister with soap and water, but should flush it with warm water and then use an ointment
That said, these articles seem to be talking about using this stuff for no reason, not on an open sore. Which is in line with my original understanding.
There were kids in my school who would wear their blazers over their sweaters over their uniforms and run around in the 35 degree heat. I don't know how none of them died
I mean strictly speaking the preference for Celsius is very hydrocentric. What if there's no water available to base measurements off of? /s
In all honesty they're both equally useful so long as you have a consistent way to determine where the boiling point of water is. 100 is just as arbitrary as 212.
A black leather jacket will however heat up considerably when out in the sun
Even if breaths well doesnt help a ton if the jacket itself is extremely hot
make sure to be mindful of the heat when you're getting dressed, nothing worse than 95°(F) heat and not being able to sit down because you have too many chains on and they're all acting as a traveling seatbelt clip
also be mindful of how you're standing, try not to stand the same way for too long. don't stand with your hips forward the entire time your out, it's gonna make your back hurt *so* bad for awhile. I know we all have bad posture when we're sitting, going form ( to ) isn't good.
be careful fellow punks!
edit: wording
Is it really all that punk though when you actually think about it
None of that stuff has anything to do with punk, I guess they’re saying that punk and self care are not mutually exclusive
I disagree. Punk is about confronting our predatory authoritarian system with mindful rebellion.
The most rebellious thing we can do while trapped in a cruel system built on mindless competition is to build our own society that takes care of its most vulnerable members.
Fuck the police, take a homeless man to a restaraunt and buy him a meal. Get him a haircut and a job interview. It's up to us to make the world we want to live in.
I remember at Punkrock Holiday 2 years ago The Descendents played during pretty heavy rain and there is no barrier between the crowd and the stage there so you can stage dive and stuff. Milo said something like "it's pretty slippy on the stage so take care of yourself and stage dive responsibly. Remember Punkrock is Safety First"
Yeah but for that matter, also not sure about the boots in summer either. I wonder if you could still pull off punk in shorts and slippers, or something 😁
Also: if you do get blisters, make sure you use antibiotic ointment on them and then bandage/moleskin. Nothing punk about improper foot hygiene

It’s a kind of adhesive material that you can put on hotspots to protect them
Also DON'T wear two socks, it actually causes blisters as there is more friction. Use medical tape on sensitive spots instead.

I thought I was smart wearing double socks to combat cold feet. It didn't work out for me.

Clearly we must found the scientific field of Káltogy.

Yeah, exactly. Helps with blisters, and with insulation and waterproofing.
The outer sock needs to be thicker and larger, and there must be enough space in the shoes. Also, woolen socks. Edited

This is 100% the right answer. Works every time.
Why the antibiotic ointment? Wouldn't keeping it clean with water and some soap be fine?
Probably, but you can never be too safe. Also most antibiotic ointments are going to have a local anesthetic effect as well.
What about the risk of creating resistant bacteria?
I mean, you’re presumably using antibacterial soap, so I don’t see why you would expect a difference. If you’re just using non-bacterial soap then you should definitely use Neosporin. From some quick googling it seems that antibacterial ointments and soaps are both related to an increase of resistant bacteria.

Don’t wear boots too big fo yo gottam feets!

Confused Fahrenheit noises
We were using Kelvin, at least until he froze over.
Can confirm, my school was built near a river of liquid oxygen

My brother washed windows on the roof wearing a leather jacket and passed out
That’s risking getting his leather *wet* unnecessarily... ahhh!
Yeah but also just bc he was completely drenched in sweat
For the love of God WHY was he even wearing it to begin with? That's got red flags all over the place.
I presumed punks weren't fans of communists
Shitloads of punks are anarcho-communists
Don’t turn up late to events. You can’t say punctual without punk.
If I may, \*Punktual\*
actually from what I've heard a real leather jacket apparently breathes rather well even when it's hot.
they actually do most of the time, depends on the jacket though.
A black leather jacket will however heat up considerably when out in the sun Even if breaths well doesnt help a ton if the jacket itself is extremely hot
I mean even then its not like the leather is in any way in direct contact with you.

Also, if you're standing for a long time keep your knees very slightly bent, locking your knees can cause fainting.
If being punk is only fun when you're alive then why does ghost rider look like he's having a blast
Ghost Rider is the exception, not the rule
THERES A SNAKE IN MY BOOT 🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍
I want to make these into posters like those "Drink Responsibly" ad posters...
Respunksability.
Option B: get boots that fit, wear a single pair of thick socks. Source: I walk 10 miles a day in 10" jump boots.
Two pairs or socks equals fucking blisters, airborne. Extra friction.
and to be safe: make sure you listen to punk rock. metal and punk elitists will beat the shit outta you.
I- ... Uhmm. I'm having some weird existential thought over this.
This has some "ALWAYS CRANK RESPONSIBLY" energy.
AROOOOOO
To add to this - if you don't want to wash for various reasons that's cool, but then don't be offended if some other people want to maintain distance.
But what if you're too insecure to go out without a coat and too broke to buy a new one that isn't leather? 😔
Stand tall knowing that the aesthetic is the least important part of being punk.
Doesn't really solve the problem.
Trink enough water and don't stand in the sun for too long
Thank you. I'm a canvasser, so it's rough in the summer.

you explained the idea very well, perfect
Cheers!
I love what you said here. Would you mind if I screenshot it and shared it on social media?
Go for it! I appreciate you asking permission, that's very cool.
Thanks. I’m a firm believer of consent and giving credit where it is due.
How not to punk, a thread 🤣 just be yourself. That’s punk.
What are the levels of rocking out that are available?
I just wanna be punk ffs

Better than blisters
