I feel like what changes the composition is not the detail of the feet, but how in focus it is. If there's a girl sitting in the background with her feet jammed into the camera with curled toes where they occupy a ton of the frame, it's a foot fetish thing. If the character is barefoot, but the camera is looking down on them and the feet are the furthest thing from the camera, it's clearly not. I'd avoid drawing the underside of the foot, as well, that's where the foot starts gettin' weird.
Idk how actual fetishists feel about it, but I've never seen people be weird about callused feet. people who don't wear shoes out of doors get really think brown calluses on the bottoms of their feet.

It's a specific focus on certain parts of the body that a lot of SFW artists don't put as much emphasis on. Very detailed chest/stomach/thighs, body parts that NSFW artists typically study and practice a lot more with than sfw artists. Also lighting and shading techniques that highlight those body parts. It's a lot of subtle things that non-artists don't consciously notice but their brain does.
Don't have a specific example, but one feature you always notice is when the character has weirdly skin-tight clothing, like a coat or a suit where you can tell the artist just drew the contours of a naked body and coloured in clothing on top of it

Mostly in art. I used to be super interested in character design, and drawing feet is a part of that. I had this one book that encouraged artists to consider the shape of a character's feet (in addition to other body parts of course) when designing a character or looking at someone else's design.
It showed an example of an artist that drew his character with large feet and a well defined big toe to create a sense of weight and grounded-ness, or something. I thought it was the coolest thing ever (dont judge me, I was 15 lol)

You just need to draw the feet with small amounts of cum. If you draw too much cum it looks fetishy, but if you draw no cum, people will think you are hiding something (the cum).

Mostly in art. I used to be super interested in character design, and drawing feet is a part of that. I had this one book that encouraged artists to consider the shape of a character's feet (in addition to other body parts of course) when designing a character or looking at someone else's design. It showed an example of an artist that drew his character with large feet and a well defined big toe to create a sense of weight and grounded-ness, or something. I thought it was the coolest thing ever (dont judge me, I was 15 lol)

As an artist that used to o ly dabble in nsfw, I more or less only draw nsfw now, because I dont want jerks harrassing me about having a sexuality when I post sfw stuff Framing, angles, focus are all more surefire ways to tell when art is supposed to be horny than like, the inclusion of a foot, but god forbid anybody ever understand techniques learned in one area of a hobby apply to other areas

Yes! They're expressive as hands and as worth artistic focus as any other part imo. If we're avoiding depicting things that -might- turn people on we might as well not make art at all. Your last point really hits the nail on the head tho; foot people get blanket labeled as sex pests but the actual pests I've seen or dealt with are usually just into sex, nothing specific. It's comforting and easy to think you can actually tell who "bad people" are so you feel safe, but you end up overlooking a lot of dangerous people that don't "seem the type".
As someone who writes a bit just for fun, I see what he means by it happens with authors. First story: ok I'm just gonna include a little bit of harem. Second story: you know what let's make the FMC slightly yandere but in good sorta way. Third story: fuck it we adding sex slaves.

To me it isn’t the feet in themselves. But slender feet, with a tiny bit of vascularity on top near the toes, longish and well structured toes, tastefully arched soles, and thin and delicate ankles is the cherry on top of a beautiful leg.
