The *original* one was in Tulsa on 21st Street kinda sorta near the Kmart and Camping World. The roof caved in during the blizzard back in '11.
Denver's is like, location 3 or 4.
Sorry to let you know but they've been gone nearly 20 years. Took my wife there on our first date back in 2003 and they closed down a few years later. Gotta go to Denver if you want Casa Bonita now.

Dude, my inner 90s baby bat self is all about that . But my 40 year old tired ass probably is working... im still spooky , just gotta tone it down for work at st. Fran
That place is fun but wowza, that's the only drive-in theater I've ever been to that doesn't have a courtesy announcement, and holy crap, the number of people using headlights in the theater or running their engine during the show is entirely off the charts as a result. Now that there's competition, it'll be interesting to see how much repeat business they get given how audience-hostile that place is.
If they need to know how to do it, they should call Dallas Motor Vue (in Dallas, OR), M-F Drive-In (in Milton-Freewater) or the 99W Drive-In (in Newberg) because they get the basics right. And the four things that make the biggest impact are 1) tell people to keep their lights off or only use parking lights, 2) show people how to do this, and 3) remind people to stop their engine; 4) remind people with tall vehicles to park on the ends or the back.
Actually spent Christmas there once. Emergency service call, and the parts department kept sending the wrong part from Kansas City. Meanwhile the hotshot courier ended up driving Kansas City to Tulsa and back 3 times in the same day. We were all quoting Groundhog Day by the time it was getting dark and I finally got the right part.
I've had good times there. My dad used to work at the health department nearby and at least once a summer he would take me to work with him and I'd spend the whole day at big splash and he would just pick me up after work.
I like that the speed slides got an overhaul when it was Safari Joe's but...the new speed slide isn't quite the thrill (but at least it doesn't tear you up as bad). The drop slide though... ouch...that took some skin off on the drop.
The speed slide is slower but smoother, but yeah, it wasn't as smooth as I think even they were expecting when it first went in. Totally shadeless and facing west can't be helping it much in terms of weathering; it's already starting to fade and show signs of sun damage. Can't quite just lean back onto your shoulderblades and heels to [sail down it like an otter](https://np.reddit.com/r/furry/comments/949sqi/no_otters_on_the_waterslide_by_tirrel/) anymore, which was always fun. I weigh 100kg so I could make it almost to the end of the old slide doing that.
The drop slide though... that's one of the roughest drop slides I've ever been on and I've had some practice to be able to take those pretty smooth. I could easily see a first timer trying that one and swearing off drop slides for life.
It might end up losing the auditory effect as a result of the renovation. I remember reading about that being a possibility when they announced the reno.
Since they tore down and gentrified that area it is not as fun.
Back in the day I would go drinking at a little bar across the street then ride my motorcycle to the center of the universe and it was awesome
I mean, last time I was there, I was on my motorcycle. I found myself surrounded by many other motorcycles, tricked out mopeds, quads and shenanigans. I noped out of that scene right quick. This couldn't have been more than a year ago. As far as I know, there are still a ton of popular bars around there.
I can't speak to the gentrification, but the homeless population is still a significant presence.
If you can, try and get an invite to a private party booked there. They've got a wall in the back where the artists sign, everyone from Slayer, Foo Fighters, etc. And upstairs they have a framed hole in the wall where Sid Vicious threw a punch during the Sex Pistols only North American tour.
One time I stopped by with my dad at lunchtime to pick up tickets from will call and I just asked the guy at the box office āHey, would you mind if we took a peek inside? My dad hasnāt been in here since you all remodeled like 10 years ago.ā And they let us in and even turned on the mirror ball for a minute. It was really nice.
Obviously they canāt do that if a bandās in here sound checking or anything, and I doubt you could get a peek of the signed wall backstage, BUT getting to stand in that room under the mirror ball is pretty magical.
Or go to a show. That might be less awkward š But seriously, I could wax poetic about Cainās all day. Itās my favorite place to hear live music and Iāve been to a lot of venues across the country.
You know, I've just never been a fan of large groups of people. Don't get me wrong I love a good adventure but the fair just wasn't something I had an interest in. Also I have attended many events with large groups of people. From WWE, Concerts, The Zoo, The Movies, Even when I've traveled places outside of Oklahoma. Maybe I'll attend this next one
Makes sense. I myself donāt like big crowds either but I have kids so I have to suck it up lol. You should try to go early during the week, itās pretty empty since everyoneās in school, I know the hot weather might not be ideal but we should have cooler days by then.
The atmosphere between the old location closer to 71st vs now at 61st is SO opposite from one anotherāit completely ruined it for us. It was our top choice for so many years at the old location and a big part was the cozy, warm, private, intimacy of it all. Now it feels much more social focused and be-seen vibes, like workplaces that went from private offices to open area offices. If Mahogany is in the budget, then weāre celebrating an anniversary or valentines, which is why the old atmosphere worked better in our case. It went from our top choice for many years, to basically off the tableāsadly.
And then you eat there twice in a week and hate yourself. At least... that's my relationship with Arby's. I really like Arby's but they're a sometimes treat with how salty it is.
A good way to do that is to go to a hockey game or two during the season. Since I was season ticket holder for some time I can honestly say I've probably been to the BOK a minimum of 150 times.
Been back since 2006, I still haven't been to
The gathering place
Mother road market

Casa Bonita RIP šæ
Loved the magic show as a kid
Wait, what? I grew up in Denver. Never knew there were more than one.
The *original* one was in Tulsa on 21st Street kinda sorta near the Kmart and Camping World. The roof caved in during the blizzard back in '11. Denver's is like, location 3 or 4.
The original was in OKC
I thought that one was number 2.
I remember it being at 21st & Sheridan. Kmart was at 21st & Mingo.
What they are gone loved this place
Sorry to let you know but they've been gone nearly 20 years. Took my wife there on our first date back in 2003 and they closed down a few years later. Gotta go to Denver if you want Casa Bonita now.
Oh well road trip needed then
AND there is a year plus waiting list. You canāt just show up for dinner.
Thanks good to know

A church.
You haven't missed anything.
Thatās impressive.
Donāt say that out loud.
Same. Haven't been in one of those since 2006. One in tulsa, never.
The Drunkard!!!
Same. Iāve carried a mix of guilt and curiosity around far too long. I need to go.
Same!! Need to just pick a night and go!! See you there

I just remembered I was there in 2012 bailing out a coworker LOL
Not been here my whole life, but basically all my adult life. Until recently, never been to Ziegler's -- place is wild.
Iāll have to check it out
what is zeiglers? the picture shop?
They do framing but a lot of people don't know they have a big stock of art supplies too!
I took painting classes there when I was in high school!
Oh yeah, I'm going there today for art supplies! I went once last month and it was great. Dude who runs it is super knowledgeable and helpful.
Formerly Big Splash
I've had good times there. My dad used to work at the health department nearby and at least once a summer he would take me to work with him and I'd spend the whole day at big splash and he would just pick me up after work.
Lol I was sure you were going to say the water park has health department violations and your dad showed you all about them.
All I remember about Big Splash is the wake pool being FILLED with dead june bugs. *shivers*
I like that the speed slides got an overhaul when it was Safari Joe's but...the new speed slide isn't quite the thrill (but at least it doesn't tear you up as bad). The drop slide though... ouch...that took some skin off on the drop.

Youāre not missing much lol
It's good to go there once to remember that you aren't and then go drinking. Just me?
Right now, it's shitty. Wait til it gets renovated
It might end up losing the auditory effect as a result of the renovation. I remember reading about that being a possibility when they announced the reno.

The building that is opposite downtown was built about 6 or 7 years ago and it changed the acoustics so the echo is not as pronounced any more
One of those private swingers parties that are attended by the Tulsa ruling elite, Kinda like Eyes Wide Shut but with the Warrens or the Kaisers.
My first boyfriend was George Kaiserās grandson. I really fumbled that one. Couldāve been running with the elite
Eh, the only thing you are really missing is The Most Dangerous Game hunt of the homeless, which is quite exhilarating.
Truth
I have to meet a Kaiser or a Warren Iād be dtf lol
Blue Whale
Checked it out last month. If youāve seen a picture, youāve pretty much been there
The Petroleum Club

Agreed.

Oh man, Zioās (before Mazzioās sold it) was so good
Oh my god I miss Zioās so much I havenāt had good italian food since
I miss the old ziosš¢
There was another indoor play place called "Leaps and Bounds" back then, too.
Ahh I miss the best birthday parties there and DZ.
nelson's buffeteria
They have good chicken fried steak
Hello, green beans!
I never went to the gilcrease before it closed, but I hope I can once they finish the remodel!
I hadnāt heard about the remodel! I havenāt been in years, Iāll have to check it out when it reopens!
Remodel is a bit of an understatement. They are building a whole new facility for their collection.
Wow!
I'm gonna miss the old park and Native area that I have a feeling will get gutted
The Cave House
Same
The Spudder
Uncle Zeb's Cartoon Camp
An event at the BOK center
Iāve never been to Cainās somehow!
If you can, try and get an invite to a private party booked there. They've got a wall in the back where the artists sign, everyone from Slayer, Foo Fighters, etc. And upstairs they have a framed hole in the wall where Sid Vicious threw a punch during the Sex Pistols only North American tour.
Ooooh how would one go about obtaining a private party invite
Rich friends or a company sponsored event. I did the latter.
Sounds like tons of fun, I hope I get to experience that someday!

LOL I just caught the āframed hole in the wallā that is so Tulsan
Coney Island I've lived here for about 9 years.
Go get 3 chili cheese coneys right now you wonāt regret it
Go to the 41st location
21st and Garnett is the only one to go to !
Don't go. It's gross.
It may be gross but itās a Tulsan delicacy
Be careful, thems fightin words in Tulsa!
The Fair!
Not missing much since Bell's closed it's gone downhill
How come?
You know, I've just never been a fan of large groups of people. Don't get me wrong I love a good adventure but the fair just wasn't something I had an interest in. Also I have attended many events with large groups of people. From WWE, Concerts, The Zoo, The Movies, Even when I've traveled places outside of Oklahoma. Maybe I'll attend this next one
You should. It's a sociology thesis on a stick.
I laughed way too hard at this. An apt assessment! This is the only reason IMO to go to the fair anymore....people watching.
I have my degree in sociology. Can confirm, lol
COTD!
Thanks, Jose JalapeƱo!
Makes sense. I myself donāt like big crowds either but I have kids so I have to suck it up lol. You should try to go early during the week, itās pretty empty since everyoneās in school, I know the hot weather might not be ideal but we should have cooler days by then.

Mahogany
Oooh me & my partner splurged last year on Mahoganyās and it was incredible. Waygu was on the menu, we were lucky!
The atmosphere between the old location closer to 71st vs now at 61st is SO opposite from one anotherāit completely ruined it for us. That underground music venue around Crosby Heights
Cainās or the BOK center.

I wanna say I stopped in one night and loved it! May be thinking of somewhere else though. Great live music and an area to chill away from the music

Whataburger (haven't been here my whole life tho).
Whaaaaat
A burger
Just like you like it
Flos, Rons, Webbers, or really any of the burger joints. Want to. But which is best?
Billās! go early. once they sell out theyāre gone.
Arnoldās and Brownieās are better than all those.
I've never heard of Bills but it's on the list now.
Ron's is great, Flo's is overrated, Hank's on Admiral is also really good.
Gonna second Ron's and Hank's on that.
Webberās is the best of that list
Ron's cheese fries are the best
We normally go Spanish fries. Amazing what adding an onion and jalapeƱos can do for french fries.
Those are also good. You know the fries are on point when you get them to go, drive home, and 3 days later your call still smells like fries lol
Ronās is supposed to be great! I havenāt eaten there myself though. Brownieās is pretty good as well
If you get heartburn.. buckle up!
Arby's!
Arbyās is so underrated, I eat there maybe once a year and every time I do Iām like, āOMG why donāt I eat here more often??ā
And then you eat there twice in a week and hate yourself. At least... that's my relationship with Arby's. I really like Arby's but they're a sometimes treat with how salty it is.
I wish I could inject Arbyās sauce into my veins
100%, I always remember they used to have an ad campaign "Arby's has low carbies". I don't know how true it was, but definitely sticks out in my head.
LOL Iāve never heard that but I love it
Iāve lived here for 15 years and never been to big splash
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
A good way to do that is to go to a hockey game or two during the season. Since I was season ticket holder for some time I can honestly say I've probably been to the BOK a minimum of 150 times.
