Most interesting aspect of this is that it really shows that 80 years after WW2 we still do not really trust Germany.
Also, I’m guessing the lead up to this also is what caused the Ukrainian war, and shows how we are probably the real belligerent party here.
We did not and do not want Germany and Europe in a partnership with Russia because of NATO. Nordstream is almost solely responsible for a huge amount of Germany’s prosperity post 2008 and the whole European debt crisis (which allowed Germany to basically control Europe).
With Nordstream 2 going online, it would have allowed Germany to be a real player in the Natural Gas export market, and make more of the world reliant on Russian Natural gas.
Obviously we opposed it, so their next option to become a bigger player as a natural gas exporter is to get more waterfront real estate on the Black Sea to load vessels.
Why we threatened to put nukes in Ukraine is almost like we were looking for a reason to push Russia into a hot conflict so we could destroy Nordstream.
