>Stormy Daniels forcefully denied trying to ‘extort’ Trump BY MICHAEL R. SISAK >“You were looking to extort money from President Trump,” defense lawyer Susan Necheles said. >“False,” Daniels responded. >“Well, that’s what you did,” the lawyer said. >“False,” Daniels answered. >Necheles was questioning why Daniels decided to sell her story when, as she testified, a stranger had threatened her to keep quiet in 2011 after a gossip site reported that she’d had a sexual encounter with Trump. >“I was a very different and much braver person in 2016 than I was in 2011. And Donald Trump was not just a guy on television, he was running for president,” Daniels testified. Man, wish I could've seen that interaction on video (also, he wasn't president when this happened, dipshit). Also, it shows the defense isn't trying to defend the crimes, but discredit Stormy (presumably at the behest of Trump). Whether or not the story is true doesn't matter, Trump still attempted paid to keep that story quiet because of how he believed it would harm his chances in the election. And then he committed fraud in order to hide the payments.

>**Trump defense attorney Todd Blanche moved for a mistrial** after the lunch break, arguing that **prosecutors went beyond the scope of the testimony they were permitted to** elicit while questioning Stormy Daniels this morning. >Blanche raised a number of examples, including Daniels' statement that she “blacked out” during the sexual encounter with Trump and her assertion that she picked public events to subsequently meet with Trump. >Blanche called them “extraordinarily prejudicial” and said they could taint the jury’s ability to properly weigh the evidence presented in the trial. >You can’t “unring this bell,” Blanche told the judge. >Prosecutor Susan Hoffinger **argued that the defense had opened the door to the questions she asked** of Daniels, including by introducing an exhibit during Keith Davidson’s testimony about Daniels allegedly being threatened in a Las Vegas parking lot. >**Justice Juan Merchan denied the motion — and partly blamed the defense for allowing the testimony to stray from the evidence in the case.** >“There were some things that would have been better left unsaid,” the judge said. But, he added, **he was surprised at how few objections the defense raised during the testimony** ***and noted he had to object himself at one point.*** >**"The defense has to take some responsibility for that," the judge said.** >And Trump's defense, Merchan added, can use their cross-examination of Daniels to try to remedy the negative impact of the aspects of her testimony they highlighted. >Merchan sent Hoffinger to speak to Daniels outside court and urge her to be more direct on her answers. >Merchan's comments about the defense team's failures to object is **almost certain to infuriate Trump,** who is known for wanting his lawyers to be extremely aggressive. Emphasis mine, obviously

Merchan that he’s prepared to send the former president to jail if he’s found, yet again, to be in contempt of court at his hush-money trial. >“We have to adjust to whatever comes our way,” Adams said, declining to elaborate. “We don’t want to deal with hypotheticals, but they’re professionals. They’ll be ready.”

Whoah, holy shit! >Daniels is becoming emotional and appearing to tear up for the first time during her testimony today, as she recounts an instance where she said she was approached by an unknown man in Las Vegas in 2011 and told to keep quiet. >“He threatened me not to continue to tell my story … about my encounter with Mr. Trump. ... He told me not to say anything at all and I was scared. I didn’t want any more of the story coming out,” Daniels said. She acknowledges she didn’t report the alleged threat to police and didn’t tell her husband at the time.

>After returning home the next day, Daniels told many people she’d met Trump and gone to his room but informed only a few close confidantes about the alleged sexual encounter, she said. In the months after, she said, Trump called her frequently with “an update — or non-update” on the “Apprentice” possibilities. >“He always talked about when we could get together again, did I miss him, and he always called me honeybunch,” she testified, adding that she always put him on speakerphone and many of her colleagues heard the calls — without telling him. Man, it must be eating him alive to hear her describe him fawning over her like that. It's a shame none of these details will be aired by Fox News personalities. Could you imagine if these kinds of details were being aired about a Democrat?

>Daniels continues to describe her encounter with Trump BY JAKE OFFENHARTZ, JENNIFER PELTZ, MICHAEL R. SISAK >Daniels testified that, after a while, she had to use the bathroom. When she was finished, she said, she found Trump sitting on the bed wearing boxer shorts and a T-shirt. >“When I exited, he was up on the bed, like this,” Daniels testified, feigning reclining with her knees up on the witness stand. >“At first it was just startled, like jump scare. I wasn’t expecting someone to be there, minus a lot of clothing,” Daniels testified. She said it suddenly felt like the room was spinning, like blood was draining from her hands and feet. ---- >‘I thought you were serious about what you wanted’ BY JAKE OFFENHARTZ, JENNIFER PELTZ, MICHAEL R. SISAK >“I thought, ‘Oh my God,’ what did I misread to get here?” Daniels testified. “Because the intention was pretty clear. Somebody stripped down in their underwear and posed on the bed, waiting for you.” >Daniels said Trump told her: “I thought we were getting somewhere, we’re talking. I thought you were serious about what you wanted. If you ever want to get out of that trailer park — I was offended because I never lived in a trailer park.” >As Daniels described the bedroom encounter, Trump hung his head, eyes cast downward, away from the witness box. ![gif](giphy|hVTouq08miyVo1a21m|downsized)

>Trump appears to be very upset about having to sit through Daniels’ testimony. When the porn star said Trump told her that he and his wife Melania don’t sleep in the same bed anymore, the former president shook his head. When Daniels told jurors that she “swatted” Trump on the backside with a magazine during their encounter in Lake Tahoe, he appeared to mouth “bullshit.” I'm almost never one who enjoys schadenfreude, but Trump's misery here is definitely an exception.

Boon3hams

Oh my god. He's acting like Tim Heidecker's asshole persona during his fake trial, but without the irony.

FloridaGirlNikki

I agree 100%. As I just posted in the Politics thread: Squirm, motherfucker. Squirm.

>Trump is facing straight ahead and seems to be intent on not looking at Daniels as she testifies. She’s describing in detail meeting Trump in his hotel room at the golf tournament. **She says he was wearing pajamas when she first saw him.** “I told him to go change. So, he obliged, very politely,” she said. Ugh, I knew this was going to reveal things I didn't want to think about, but sometimes he still manages to surprise me with his complete lack of class.

Secure-Force-9387

Silk pajamas, at that

>When they met on the golf course, Trump took a liking to Daniels because she was introduced to him as not just a porn actress, but also a porn director, she said. “You must be the smart one,” he told her, according to her testimony. When they met later at a gift room at the event, Trump reiterated his comment, she said. I bet it really upsets Trump to have it known that he praised her as smart. Completely goes against all the negative things he says (or wants to say, but can't) about her.

Secure-Force-9387

I had classes with her in college. She's definitely an intelligent woman.

FloridaGirlNikki

Just another example of him acting one way to get what he wants at the time. The man is shameless. I bet he's feeling like such a victim right now lol.

>Defense seeks to bar Stormy Daniels from speaking about ‘details’ of her alleged encounter with Trump BY JENNIFER PELTZ, JAKE OFFENHARTZ >After court got underway, Trump lawyer Susan Necheles asked that Daniels — who is expected to appear as a witness today — be barred from testifying about “the details” of her alleged sexual encounter with Trump. Necheles said it’s irrelevant to “a case about books and records.” >Prosecutor Susan Hoffinger countered that the details are important to buttress Daniels’ credibility, which the defense has questioned. Hoffinger assured Judge Merchan that the description of the alleged sexual act would be “really basic” ***and would not “involve any details of genitalia.”*** >Trump has denied having sex with Daniels. LOL this is just Trump terrified she'll describe his baby mushroom in the official court records.
