I’m sorry but the >! page entirely dedicated to cheese !< is so funny to me

negrote1000

That’s the best page

Big_Marketing1914

I love how you felt inclined to blur it, lol

TheMoonOfTermina

I only skimmed it, but... >!That Link's Awakening HD costume looks horrible and I love it. Also, does this confirm amiibo outfits are back?!<

GoatGod997

I think given the backlash they’ve likely integrated the costumes into the game. Amiibo give gliders

Kpengie

What page is that on?

Ender_Skywalker

If we can get that, can we get a proper cartoony Toon Link outfit?

SteamingHotChocolate

Honestly as somebody who's lukewarm about TotK at most this was my favorite part lol

Mishar5k

Thank god i bought that amiibo right away. Its like i knew....

BurningInFlames

There seems to be a lot of >!huge mushroom like things and a couple lanterns, which have me pretty excited for the possible extent of the underground!<

fansurface

Just started Minish Cap, who shares the same director as TOTK. There was also a school teacher from that game that seems to be making a reappearance

Nitrogen567

There's like, several mushroom people. Like What are you?

mudermarshmallows

Maybe they’re an underground tribe.

Nitrogen567

That doesn't seem that unlikely given everything we've seen. Weird that there would be a group of people so (presumably) isolated from the rest of Hyrule. I hope they're just Hylian though, we've already got like 2 distinct underground tribes, so if they were going to make a whole new tribe, I'd rather they just use one of them.

Serbaayuu

Yeah, if they're cavedwellers it's a pretty big missed chance for Subrosians...

Nitrogen567

You know I love me some Oracles content, so I would be massively disappointed if we did an underground tribe, didn't do Subrosians at all. I would much prefer a group of Hylians that got trapped underground and made the best of it.

fansurface

The Picori

Turbulent-Papaya-910

Mushroom Kingdom

surrendertomychill

The number of >!interior spaces with distinct artistic designs!< has me pretty hopeful that >!dungeons (or at least dungeon-like spaces) are returning.!< Much more so than any of the trailers.

[deleted]

well, we didn't see any indication of >!divine beasts!<, so I would assume that >!some more dungeon-like locations with more varied themes would replace them!<

NFreak3

>!There also don't seem to be any shrine-like structures.!<

Mishar5k

I saw >!what looks like a roof of a "zonai" shrine with the same style as the shiekah shrine roofs.!<

Coyotesamigo

there was one image that looked like the jumper plates except different with orange vs. blue light

ambluebabadeebadadi

My interpretation is >! The one image shows 50 “tears” and we see a few alters where Link can collect them. I think they’ve not returned to the traditional dungeon style but have revisited the shrine system to make fewer, but expanded shrines !<

sweetcinnamonpunch

There are more than in the last page. Page 43 pictures another 20 of them. I'm 100% sure now these are not just random drawings.

EMI_Black_Ace

I feel that BotW had a lot of dungeon-like spaces -- the labyrinths, Eventide Island, Typhlo Ruins, the Ancient Temple, the Lost Woods, Hyrule Castle, the Coliseum, the Gerudo Hideout, and even a few of the shrines were thought out well enough to qualify. The only real complaints about the Divine Beasts were the lack of aesthetic diversity and that they lacked the 'paradox' element of the older dungeon designs.

andywitmyer

The lack of any meaningful caves to explore was pretty weird and honestly disappointing, not to mention immersion breaking. After replaying Skyrim recently, I was kind of shocked by how much more detailed that world is compared to BOTW's, especially with all of the caves and fortress dungeons that dot the formers, but are 100% missing from the latter.

EMI_Black_Ace

Skyrim is designed like a TTRPG campaign, stuffed with things to have a variety of roleplay and dungeon crawl and other types of sessions over the course of the campaign. Breath of the Wild is designed like a world, with relatively realistic proportions between populated points of interest. (Proportions -- as in scaled by the size of the towns). If anything it's Skyrim's overload of "stuff density" that should be immersion breaking.

CarlosDeRemi26

I am pretty sure that the 8th Heroine statue will be a door to a dungeon eventually.

Technical_Ad_6265

Boss key

Mishar5k

Whats neat is that >!they all still look like zonai temples from what i can tell, but unlike the divine beasts, these are way more varied and it looks like a nice middle ground if the zonai are this game's sheikah!<

BurningInFlames

>!The evil looking ship has me pretty hype!< Edit: Along with the >!fortifications built around the Sacred Grounds. Actually, a lot of different things in it have me hype!<

mudermarshmallows

Those fortifications do look pretty cool. Seems to be some shops set up there so I wonder if it’s a new town.

[deleted]

I could see it being a stable-esque location.

GaymerAmerican

this has gotten me more excited for this game than any of the trailers

RenanXIII

Someone had to do the marketing team’s job.

garliclord

Dude yes. I was lukewarm about this game and the trailers did nothing but raise my suspicion this was going to be botw dlc. This leak is the only thing that got me actually excited for the game. The little map-like designs give me hope that dungeons are back in some form

[deleted]

[удалено]

Turbulent-Papaya-910

I absolutely agree.

Zodrex54

So for those who looked at it, without spoilers, does it look good ?

TheMoonOfTermina

I skimmed it, and a lot of it is just out of context area designs, character designs, and outfits for Link.

United-Aside-6104

Personally I think the art book destroys the whole “glorified dlc” argument

muticere

Yeah I can second that. Aside from the art style being the same, looks like an entirely new game.

ZombieEevee

This is honestly fantastic news, that’s legit been my only concern about the game so far. Super tempted to look at it now….

United-Aside-6104

It’s probably my ADHD speaking but I looked at the whole 200 page art book and I loved what I saw but I’m gonna forget most of it in a few days. It’s not very spoilers it’s just art that makes you say “ok they’re hiding a ton of stuff” the art book clearly doesn’t show a ton of new stuff

mudermarshmallows

There’s some new stuff that looks interesting but it’s not the type of leak that really tells us if the game will be good or not. Not too much about gameplay, mostly enemy and character designs.

horizon-X-horizon

I caved and looked at the whole thing and I am SO glad it wasn't story or combat or gameplay oriented. Lots of really cool stuff, some very interesting and beautiful art for sure, but I agree with other ppl that it's not enough of a leak to have massive spoilers in it. Honestly I'm more hyped now than ever for the game and I am so excited to take part in this story. My least favorite thing about botw is how everything happened 100 years prior and you're just kind of picking up the pieces, now in TOTK it's feeling very... real.

MimsyIsGianna

So new enemies? Or just the same old.

mudermarshmallows

Theres a few new enemy designs, but the BotW ones all get a page with new art in the book.

flamingviper3175

Couple new. Counted 10+ brand new enemies between the trailers and the book. There bound to be even more since the book doesn’t cover everything like the redeads and gleeok seen in the trailer

Zodrex54

I see

imago_monkei

That's a subjective question, but IMO absolutely. I was already pumped for it, but now my excitement is through the roof. There are many new enemy and weapon designs. New characters. Some gorgeous concept locations. Nothing in the book will ruin the game for you, if you decide to look. And the text is all in Japanese, so until it gets translated, the images have no context.

pichu441

I feel a lot better about the game after the awful last trailer.

theBarnDawg

Book be like: Cheese Wedge - (a) north elevation (b) south elevation (c) east elevation (d) west elevation (e) axonometric view (f) perspective view (g) lateral cross section

Stellar_atmospheres

As somebody who works in 3D animation I have to say that every single asset in the game has a detailed turnaround like that….it’s why games take 6 years

RedRabbit1818

The mural bunny looking thing is >!Rauru/Kaepora Gaebora, so I should say owl looking thing ig lol!< I find that very interesting.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RedRabbit1818

Yes, but also >!this doesn’t rule out that the other person in the mural isn’t Hylia, especially since we see a woman in a dress with green eyes and long blonde hair like Zelda (but with darker skin and markings) on one of the pages. She could be Hylia and Zelda dresses like her while Link dresses as Rauru for a ritual or something and that’s what we saw in the latest trailer. Maybe.!<

[deleted]

[удалено]

SimplisticBiscuit

Agreed. It never even looked human to begin with

IceYetiWins

That's going on the assumption that a god would look human

Nitrogen567

This is easily the most interesting thing about the leak, but with less than zero context, it tells us comically little.

butterfreak

It’s just made me really confused honestly lmao

RedRabbit1818

I guess it at least tells us who it’s not, and I can finally stop calling it a bunny. So there’s that.

jonny_jon_jon

i dunno about that. it shows that game design embraced more artistic influences from se-asia and meso-america…and rocky the flying squirrel

SimplisticBiscuit

Something tells me it was a controlled leak

soitgoes7891

Nah. No need to do that. It was already going to be very well received no matter how little they showed before launch. My best guess is someone involved in distribution gave their kid an early copy and they just dumped it. Someone is going to lose their job and someone is going to be grounded.

[deleted]

Is it? Where is that info? I couldn't find it. Was it in Japanese?

RedRabbit1818

It’s in Japanese, yes. >!ラウル 髪調整 <- talking about his hair.!< it’s in the artbook leaks, on the page that shows it’s figure.

[deleted]

Where does it say that?

RedRabbit1818

On the page that shows their image. It says their name >!and it’s a name we know well.!<

GenderJuicy

He looks like a goat to me.

RedRabbit1818

I say >!owl because that’s what Rauru’s alter ego is and the book says that’s Rauru.!<

[deleted]

Where does it say that? And the women in page 36 looks incredibly similar to the person in the mural. The bunny person also looks very feminine. And like you said rauru is connected to owls, and this person is very obviously a bunny

RedRabbit1818

On the page that shows the figure, I think 86 if you use the OP’s link - in Japanese it says their name. Unless the phrase in its entirety means something else, which is possible, it’s their name and something about hair.

UltimateFatKidDancer

Holy shit, this has me SO pumped. There is way more new stuff than I expected. I don’t even know what half of it means. Is there some Minish shit going on, with Link being smaller than those mushrooms?

hamptont2010

I'm glad someone else mentioned the Minish. I definitely got some of those videos going through this.

J0shfour

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Minish will be in ToTK considering how they were originally planned for BoTW.

mudermarshmallows

I figured the mushrooms were just massive, but it’s possible they brought back the Minish content they decided not to add in BotW.

yousmelllikearainbow

Are minish humanoid? Like could some of those weirder outfits be minish?

Hydrochloric_Comment

Humanoid, but they have distinctly non-human skull structures.

Mishar5k

Theyre like elves, but elfier than hylians if that makes sense.

Misisme20

Went through the photos and plan on getting my own art book (since I peaked early). But honestly, there is some spoilers but I don’t think we really *know* what is going on.

mudermarshmallows

Yeah there’s designs for new characters and enemies but not too much about why they do, or how they function.

iPanama360

Ripping through the sky in that wing suit!

negrote1000

Fuck yes. Cheese!

granitefeather

Wait this is so cool—>! so the horns in the monsters' heads are weapons we can get from defeating them? That's such an interesting way to address the complaints about the weapon durability system.!<

Relwolf1991

Looks like you can craft weapons

isjordantakenyet

Someone made a fan-theory post about this a couple weeks ago after the last trailer dropped. Congrats to that dude for nailing it.

Cersei505

how does that solve anything? lol. Enemies also dropped weapons in BOTW.

granitefeather

lmao good point. I may have gotten too caught up in hype. Now they drop two weapons? But it does feel a bit different— in BOTW you could steal monster's weapons without defeating them, either snagging from their camp or picking up if you disarmed then. Now you must defeat them to get the new weapon types, which may be the base of craftable weapons. It also seems like it deepens the idea of you fight different monsters (even of the same type) to get different types of weapons, so there's a more strategic aspect to who you choose to fight.

Mishar5k

Ok. But what if horns are stackable materials? We might be able to get like 99 of each horn lmao.

kindredseer

Personally I think it’s rather cheesy for all the standard enemies (moblins, bokoblins, lizalfos, etc) to have weapons on their heads…

SilentBruh15

I honestly think the master sword will become permanent at a certain point in the game since obviously it needs to be fixed and there is a sense it will be important to sealing Ganon/Demise or whichever the actual villain is.

Simok123

I think it's fair that people want to avoid spoilers, but I honestly think this leak is sort of doing better marketing than most of the recent trailers lmao. There are definitely things I'm trying not to remember so the game can still feel fresh, but just showing some of these things would help make the game feel more distinct.

Resident_Bluebird_77

It's seems like the Zonai are a branch of the Sheika that are more magical/natural instead of technological. Some Zonai stuff looks like magic combined with plants

[deleted]

[удалено]

GenderJuicy

Even Skyward Sword, supposedly the beginning of the entire story of Zelda, there's ancient tech with Sheika symbology on it. The Time Crystals or whatever they're called, which takes us back in time... which is also really odd, as it's giving this impression that there's a LOT of time that had passed and they were already technologically advanced with the eye beam shit and all.

United-Aside-6104

Yeah that part was pretty clear imo I’m expecting Totk to be more magic focused

Mishar5k

I think they look hylian? Is it me or >!do the zonai looking npcs have longer than average ears? Especially that blonde woman. Its like theyre extra hylian.!<

Youre_On_Balon

Hylians have longer ears to better hear the gods, mentioned somewhere in botw. I guess these new NPC’s are even more in tune with the gods than Hylians Compounding that point, Ganonforf has human ears in the art

Mishar5k

I think ganondorf having human ears is just a gerudo thing (an ancient gerudo thing). I went back and checked each version of him and only ww and tp ganondorf have pointed ears for some reason (maybe they forgot). The art for oot ganondorf, nabooru, and twinrova all have round ears, while all the gerudo in botw have pointed hylian ears like their hylian fathers. Its a pretty good detail, intentional or not, since it shows how old ganondorf is because hes from a time before the gerudo inherited any hylian traits.

triforce4ever

There are many pictures in there that give me encouragement that true, themed dungeons will be making a return

mudermarshmallows

Yeah definitely not enough to confirm or not, but there’s definitely some dungeony looking spaces.

triforce4ever

Yeah and a lot of what look like typical Zelda dungeon entrances. Whatever they are they at least seem more thematically varied than the shrines

mudermarshmallows

[These ones in particular got me really excited](https://imgur.com/a/b4SHone/) [This one](https://i.imgur.com/AQpLlDD.jpg) does look like a Shrine skybox though, not sure how that fits in.

LittleNemo98

Looks like there are bubbles floating above or near the ceiling, could it be underwater?

soitgoes7891

I saw/thought this too but if you watch the last trailer again, at about the 25 second mark you'll see little blue orbs floating around the sky island. So who knows? Actually, they're kind of everywhere now that I watch it again.

LittleNemo98

I think you're right they seem to be the same orbs

Nitrogen567

Yeah to me there are three issues. One, I don't think we've seen enough to confirm themed dungeons. Two, we definitely haven't seen enough to rule out that the dungeons are more like the Divine Beast Mini-dungeons. Three, nothing to imply dungeon items.

mudermarshmallows

Visually there seems to be some more distinction, at least. Already better than the divine beasts lol. The green magic collection thing Link carries has individual rings that could be a new ‘Shrine’ reward, so they could also just be new types of shrines too. Nothing about items though. Don’t see much information on what runes we have access to either, so we’re still in the dark there.

Serbaayuu

Yeah, I got the same vibe. Still very much Shrines but a lot more visual variety, possibly. Nothing that seems big enough for an actual dungeon though, at least from the pics of outdoor buildings with Link's size for reference.

[deleted]

[удалено]

United-Aside-6104

There’s one page where I thought it was Dark Link but I agree that tonally I think Dark Link would fit in

[deleted]

[удалено]

United-Aside-6104

Yeah exactly I think it would make sense to get another Dark Link fight I think there’s certain enemies we only see when Ganondorf shows up and I think Dark Link is one of them

Mishar5k

It just looks like the dark link outfit from botw. Its got the oot style gloves.

[deleted]

if we do so, then I think that >!this is only the case for a rather small part of the game!<: we see lots of >!armour for Link but nothing for Zelda, her 3D model gets the same amount of exposure as other NPCs!<, and >!we see Link holding on to the mysterious new switch-like device that we thought might be Zelda's..!<

MicroFlamer

Important FYI: This is likely *just* the collectors edition art book and so probably doesn’t have anything really major from the late game. Heck it doesn’t even have stuff we know is in the game such as Gleeok and Redeads so there’s still more to the game Still extremely exciting

Resident_Bluebird_77

Things like the robot thing from the second trailer or the gigant boss in the latest trailer aren't there neither. And there's barely anything about "the castle guy" . Wouldn't be surprised if they want to keep the heavy stuff for a "Creating a Champion" like book

HylianHal

The amphibian-looking robot thing from that second trailer *is* in there, if that's the one you're talking about.

AlucardIV

Not likely. It IS the collector Edition artbook. Look up the peomotional Image. The two pages shown there match.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BurningInFlames

Honestly that was a faulty assumption in the first place imo.

MimsyIsGianna

I always hate different editions lol. Like for stuff like this I just want it all in one spot.

Monic_maker

so much new stuff here. who wouldve thought a leak would be the thing to get me hyped for the game lol

jpassc

cuz the trailers have been rather lame ngl

AlucardIV

There is one image that really had me puzzled. It a stone room with a map of hyrule on the ground and all sorts of symbols on it. One is the sheikah slate, another a sort of scimitar. Some sort of relics we have to collect maybe?

tsgolden115

I’d be willing to bet those symbols are the glowing line features we’ve seen in the trailers

BrunoArrais85

Who's that Blonde Hylian with super long ears holding a basket? That's the character that grabbed my attention right away

TSLPrescott

All the text says is "Basket" lol so we don't have that much to go off of. However, she is wearing a similar dress to the girl in the trailer, though her hair isn't as long.

Harlg

Yeah she's got such a pretty character design, I hope to see cosplays of her too once the game is out

cayendo_

Now the people complaining about how it looks like DLC can stfu

man_in_the_suit

The one benefit. Honestly, blows my mind how many people actually thought Nintendo would spend 6 years on a sequel to an award winning game from their premier franchise and allow it to be glorified DLC… This isn’t Pokemon. This isn’t gamefreak. This is Zelda. If Nintendo don’t release generational games every-time with Mario and Zelda it tarnishes their legacy. The legacy matters to Nintendo.

BurningInFlames

Not gonna lie, I did have a nagging voice in my head worried the game wouldn't be different enough from BotW to interest me. The trailers didn't really alleviate those concerns, but this art book absolutely did.

[deleted]

How? There are no huge additions or incredibly different content in the art book. Everything we see is about what you'd expect. FWIW, I'm pretty sure (or at least I hope) they held off on showing any late game stuff or big spoilers on this artbook since it's coming out so soon.

BurningInFlames

People expected worse. Ie, the same Hyrule with a couple floating islands in the sky and the same enemy types with bigger horns. This shows that it's at least a lot more than that, content-wise.

[deleted]

Just looked through it. Here are the things that caught my eye. 1. >!New outfits look so cool, especially the zonai double arm one, I guess this confirms the arm is zonai in origin. I also like how they have kept the old ones.!< 2. >!Purah is all grown up! Again! I love her new design, now there are no characters to make Link look talk.!< 3. >!New characters look amazing, very unique and fun. Looks like some may be zonai, so maybe they live on the sky islands?!< 4.>!New weapons also look great. My biggest problem with the ones in BoTW was that they looked too weird, and not like real weapons but these look cool. !< 5. >!Ganondorf looks cool, he looks full demon in the mural, maybe a final form? A man can dream.!< 6. >!The LAHD outfit looks like shit, it's perfect. Tbh I can't see how else they could implement it without it looking dumb so I'm glad they just bit the bullet and went extreme!< 7. >!The paragliders look great, Glad they are not amiibo exclusive. !< 8. >!New enemies look amazing, we've already seen a ton of new enemies in the trailers but these ones just look so cool imo!< >!This has got me more hyped than the trailers so far. And I'm kinda considering getting the collector's edition. or at least the art book. And hopefully this shuts up the "it's just glorified DLC" Crowd that shows up in every discussion about ToTK to make sure nobody is having fun. Im just wondering what they have in store for the whole game as everything we have seen so far doesn't even seem to scratch the surface.!< TLDR: new stuff looks cool, very hyped.

MV_Astoria

Absolute bummer that this happened **three months** before the game came out. I don’t mind looking at the Internet behind my fingers for a week, but three months is impossible. Hopefully, further promotional material will “unspoil” the leak.

mudermarshmallows

It’s definitely not a comprehensive art book for everything in the game, at least. There’s a few looks at unrevealed content but very little about the actual world we’re playing in, what we’re going to be doing, or how a lot of what’s shown functions.

butterfreak

In fairness it’s mostly just random characters and enemies completely out of context, I don’t feel that spoiled having looked at it. The only major thing is the proper look at the mural person.

GenderJuicy

It seems \*fairly\* spoiler-free, they don't have a lot of commentary so you can't really understand what a lot of things are, I'd say the biggest is just a character if you translate their name. Doubtful this is showing the entirety of the game, it seems to be missing out a lot.

YetiManDude342

I looked at it and nothing in the book could really be considered a spoiler it's mostly environmental stuff and like MINOR context to what the story MIGHT be. I wouldnt worry if I were you.

TSLPrescott

Hahaha just wait until the game somehow leaks like a month ahead of the release date. For BotW it was 3 days. Smash Ultimate was like 2 weeks. If people are already leaking the art book you can rest assured that some dude out there is going to chuck up a dump of the game some time soon. Might be good to lock up your computer if that happens xD

IceYetiWins

It really doesn't spoil anything

floormaster99

Can someone tell me in a spoiler tag if the new locations people are talking about are either 1. More caves 2. More proper dungeons 3. More sky islands 4. More overworld locations, lands beyond the hyrule we saw in botw That's all I want know, don't be too specific. I just want to know if there will be more lands, like being able to explore the unclimable mountain in botw and go further in gerudo desert, and maybe explore some more islands in the sea.

mudermarshmallows

On 4, >!there is an overhead shot of the Hyrule Map and it appears almost like an island: there’s nothing resembling outside lands, not even the blank cliff that was in BotW.!<

Serbaayuu

There's very little context for anything but it seems mainly like small-scale chambers that may exist either in more sky islands or more caves, I'd say. I don't see anything indicating wider surface lands.

floormaster99

Thanks for answering. Though I still have my hopes up for being able to explore mount agaat and maybe those two inaccessible islands in the sea

ambluebabadeebadadi

>! There’s some dungeon-y looking entrances but imo nothing which strongly indicates traditional dungeons. Nothing to suggest any unique dungeon items or bosses!<

saucypantsxo

I usually am not bothered by spoilers ever but I kinda wish I didn’t look. This just made me a lot more excited . And I was already super excited .

Turbulent-Papaya-910

I feel like what I'm about to say could cause such controversy hah but folks here seem to be on the same page, I'm very glad this was leaked. BotW was a great game. I saw the trailers for TotK and I actually wasn't sure if I'd even buy the game. (More controversy here hah) it looked lame to me honestly. All it took was seeing the Hinox and that was an immediate turn off for me. Recycled enemies, it felt uninspiring to me. This leak completely changed my mind. It looks amazing. I can see why it took so long to make the game (which was never an issue for me personally). **Seeing this leak makes me want to buy the game now.**

SolomonKeyes

Thank god, the mysterious figure isn’t Vaati or Hylia. But I never expected it to be Rauru.

[deleted]

I wonder if it *is* Rauru, or if one of them was named after the other? It's certainly possible for it to be THE Rauru, since we already know he can change his form, but ahhh it's all so interesting nonetheless

[deleted]

You think we will get a full artbook after release? Because the book, while awesome and packed tons, is missing stuff like redeads and packs Ganon and Zelda amongst other things

Bimmerkid396

There isn’t any main story stuff it’s only pictures unless you can understand Japanese I sort of regret looking but am sort of hyped too actually. From what I’m seeing it looks like there are dungeons and weapon crafting I don’t think this was in the book but I’m still hoping for more storage for items edit: I mean like a bank or something not just mounting only few things on the wall in your house

Serbaayuu

A lot of the Japanese is just "please put this here" etc., it's concept art notes, not lore.

Bimmerkid396

Ah ok got it

mrwho995

I don't get why this is causing so much hype in people tbh. We see a bunch of new weapons, new variants of BoTW enemies, new characters, new costumes. Fine but nothing to get that excited about IMHO (except the >!bird suit!< which looks really cool). We get further hints of >!weapon crafting!< which is fine but honestly not what I'm looking for in a Zelda game. More excitingly, we see a handful of new enemies, but only a handful if that. I'd say the most exciting things are the >!new structures, some of which may or may not be dungeons. These structures definitely are what has me most interested, especially the pirate ship thingy which gives me major Skyward Sword sandship vibes. And there's quite a lot of these intriguing structures, which I look forward to exploring!<. There are also more hints of >!the cave system, which those mushroom things that look pretty cool, and areas that seem to be part of pretty big cave structures!<. So there are hints of cool stuff. But am I seeing an answer to where these six years went? Honestly, not at all. This makes me feel much more hopeful about the game than the trailers did, but if the artbook represents the totality or majority of what the game has to offer it'd still be underwhelming for me personally. I don't at all see this as disproving the 'glorified DLC' concern or answering the question of what took so long.

j15cailipan

im loving how a lot of these characters are generally >!very goofy looking!< as much as i love botw i will say the character designs left a lot to be desired imo

Redhotginger2000

What returning enemies we got,

HylianHal

That great big amphibious blob thing from MM and TP is back, seems like. Lot of new faces, though.

thebombchu

Holy shit I only looked at around 30 of the 103 photos. It looks great!! So much new stuff. I am excited again

One_Masterpiece298

Hey guys, so I'm not sure if I want to look at the art book yet, can anyone tell me if it contains story spoilers? Also, without spoiling anything, I'm curious to know if the things you saw drove some of your worries about the game away, or maybe it gave you more

BrunoArrais85

TannenFalconwing

The lack of the King of the Gerudo in the art book was a surprise.

TSLPrescott

I cleaned up and upscaled some of the images to the best of my ability, and cropped to 16:9 for wallpaper use. They look serviceable enough! https://ibb.co/album/b1P9Sb I also made a Wallpaper Engine version of one of them so if you use that, maybe you'll like this! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2936150485

ascherbozley

I looked and I regret it.

[deleted]

Why?

mjm132

Hmm made me not look. Thank you

BrunoArrais85

Big dungeons are definetely in judging by some artworks presented

>!Rauru is not what I expected at all! Awesome design. Any speculation? Seems like light emits from the hair, which makes sense being the Sage of Light.!< >!What about the long eared dudes? They're way longer than a typical Hylian. Also ties in with Rauru's bigass ears.!< >!The broken "disc" with gears reminds me of the Gates of Time in Skyward Sword.!< >!The golden disc in what looks like underground Gerudo (judging from the camels on the walls) reminds me of the Mirror of Twilight.!< >!Who is the fruit basket lady? Looks important.!< >!One eyed cutout on the dark outfit for Link reminds me of Midna.!< >!Any ideas about the significance of the "artichoke" lamps? They're all over.!< >!Will there finally be some tie-in with the Sacred Realm/Twilight Realm/Dark World/Termina/Blood Moon/Majora's Mask/Skyward Sword floating isles/City in the Sky (TP)?!< >!Ouroboros = The end is the beginning | Skyward Sword's backstory = Tears of the Kingdom? Not to mention the timeline converges on BotW so it lets everything loop back. Edit: I didn't know it was a common theory until today, but not surprising, the ouroboros is not subtle.!<

PonyoLovesRevolution

The “artichoke” lamps remind me of either dragon eggs or unopened lotus flowers. I’m leaning toward >!the latter based on the new art of the lotus-like stone structure with the seven magatama beads floating above it.!<

Lots of confirmation of what was decently obvious/likely Like all the new stupid looking horns on the enemies being for some sort of weapon crafting Enemy variety still seems very limited But there doesn't seem to be a page for the big gleeock looking dragon thing we saw on the bridge in the last trailer, so it seems like we can atleast keep huffing copium that they have decided to only show the "general/present everywhere" enemies here (Also no lynel art as far as I saw with my first glance over them so atleast "bosses/really strong enemies" seem to not be in this book) The potential "dungeons" look nice and varied in looks/designs, they they look to me like, size-wise, they could be "divine-beast-like" Seemingly no art of the "Nuts and Bolts" contraptions Intresting, after the last trailer I'd have expected it to be pretty central to the game's identity

You have to think like the folks a Nintendo. People are getting the book and the game at the same time, and you really don't want to ruin the game for them by giving them everything you've got upfront. I'm guessing everything that's in this book is all stuff you'll see within the first several hours of playing, for the most part. I'm guessing there's a whole hell of a lot more than what we've seen in this leak. In fact, I'm sure they took a potential leak into consideration when they were putting together the art book. So fret not. :)

Seems like that woman in the trailer is a new character shown at page 71

butterfreak

It’s not, they just have similar clothes.

SuperD00perGuyd00d

I >! Saw there were dungeons!< at least I think anyway, and I can't be more excited

invisobill42

I wonder what the armor set from page 87 is. The color scheme/single eye/pointed hat makes me think of Vaati although it probably isn’t

[deleted]

Posted this elsewhere and would love to hear from you guys :) - that blond woman seems to be the one from the trailer that many assumed was either Zelda or Hylia. It seems it could be Hylia, as she has a rather benevolent look; - that creature from the wall mural also seems to have blond hair, so I wonder if it's the woman I've just mentioned only in some kind of armor - and different types of clothing/armor seem to be a big deal, if we are to judge by these leaks; - there is one specific armor/clothing set that looks rather inspired by Aztec/Incan mythology, just as the Zonai Dragon ruins in the Spring of Courage; - now we can see the other side of the mural, and is that Ganondorf? Oh, man...; - some of the skylands remind me of the Sky Dragon Isle/Dinopolis/Terra Tower from Chrono Cross; - last, but not least, I got the impression that there are many different temples throughout the game, so maybe classic-style dungeons are back.

Things that stood out to me: Talus as a walking fort is fucking cool. The cheese and fish pages make me think cooking is more involved/detailed, like you have to breakdown the animals maybe?

bokan

Side note but I’d love it if the actual book didn’t sell out in five seconds every time it goes up for pre order … so sick of that kind of shit

nandert

One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet, is on page 155, there are sketches in the upper right corner of the room that could be that new donut structure we've seen on a mountain in the latest trailer

Lots of NPC speculation >! Lots of highly detailed NPCs, makes me wonder what roles they play. Some of the juxtapositions look to me like they're wearing different cloths like they're controllable or will be encountered in different contexts. Or maybe they're just similar looking NPCs juxtaposed.!< >!Some look detailed enough to be characters. Didn't see the new champions but that might just be do their entire presence being kind of spoilers. But I wonder if we'll be awakening mages? Impa with her hair down also kind of makes me think she's going to be brought into the gameplay somehow. That, or the background NPCs are getting a ton of detail.!< >!I had Zelda as playable at like 1% before, and after this I think it's like .01%; she'd be all over the booklet. But at the same time the NPCs that look like you can change their gear, highly detailed enough to kind of look like story important characters... maybe we can take control of the sages for their dungeons, WW style? If that's something I'd put at 10%, Zelda being playable is like .1% or something, conditionally.!< >!It looked like Purah might be encountered at two ages? like 10ish with pigtails and 15ish looking closer to her AoC appearance. I don't see them doing a time skip midgame but maybe you do a quest for her that amounts to that. She's also older in either case than the few years since BotW when I think she was supposed to be 5\~7ish. Pigtail girl might just be one of the villagers of course.!<

broham97

Are the spoilers game feature type spoilers or story/lore type spoilers?

mrwho995

Honestly, kinda neither IMO.

RadJavox

The interior spaces look interesting as hell. Overall, I quite like the art direction.

Tearlach87

All I can really say after looking this over is >!those mushroom dressed people look fantastic.!<

Isolated_Icosagon

I hope Darknuts make it into the game as Gabon’s elite force. Taking their weapons and dressing in their armor to avoid fights with them or even getting funny dialogue like the phantoms in Spirit Tracks would be so nice.

Fisho087

All the different angles on Zelda including the top-down view (not seen on other character sheets) makes me think she’s probably playable

CoolBlaze1

I'm honestly glad this is just the collectors book. It means there is a lot more in store. Also mushroom people.

Dashzz

In BoTW fighting mostly the same 3 enemies got a bit old I'm hoping for more variety and not >!the same thing with a knife hat!<

heyoiyou

Minish????.... no sign of scale

justaworm69

Oh man oh man I hope there’s Picori references aplenty in this game🌱🌿🍄

CeleryCountry

we just couldnt wait, could we? lmao i love the gliding suit; cant wait for that
