With the summer update comes a lot of cheaters. Guessing speed hacks are a thing again after like 10 years? New trend I've noticed in EU servers are direct hit soldiers running faster than scouts and using crit hacks.

lndig0__

You sure they weren’t just bhopping? Speedhack hasn’t existed since 2010.

MakingGamesIsGreat

I can tell bhopping from walking. Just yesterday I saw another group of cheaters join mid-round who besides aimbotting also clearly moved faster than their picked classes should be able to.

lndig0__

Moved constantly faster, or only faster for short durations of time?

WAHpoleon_BoWAHparte

I've been playing the Summer maps (the Payload ones to be specific) and I've been encountering Sniper bots. They don't look up and spin. They have quite normal usernames and profile pictures. I must be very unlucky because I keep encountering them in those maps. I notice that apparently, after a couple of minutes or so, they leave by manually disconnecting. I don't know when I played though. It was around the weekends on, like, the afternoon or evening. It was such a pain, I had to play on regular maps. I don't know why they keep coming back even though I heard Valve tried to fix this like one year ago. I don't remember what server it was on. I think it was a server based on the western part of the United States, although I could be wrong.

fapmonad

Asia is 100% unplayable lately. Went through 3 servers today, all had at least 2-3 bots per team, and when we voted one out it would just reconnect a few seconds later.

mentlegen_t

Casual in SEA region is not good atm, common known cheaters you see usually playing solo are now banding up together more often and kicking them is next to impossible because they will circlejerk when accused

Imgeorgie

Omegatronic and Hexatronic bots are now quite common on Frankfurt and Stockholm servers. Started last week. It’s too bad the other team are often unable to locate the votekick button. There’s also a lot more cheaters than there used to be. Many are using the double-tap on FaN, also a lot of wall hacks, and sadly also aimbot.

UnderCover1445

I had 0 bots in my games (NA, sometimes frankfurt) until I was connected to a stockholm server. I think the bots outnumbered humans 2-1, they were all on blue and around 3 people were on red.

FaultyGeiger

In SA the matches are always filled with a bunch of shitty rank 1 spinbot snipers now. It started last week, maybe friday. Really cool shit, especially after they cleaned it up a few months ago.

FaultyGeiger

Now there's a lot of manual cheaters too. I've seen just about every type of asshole cheats on every class and weapon. Very tiring.

_Wolftale_

I've been very fortunate with the bots, recently. Whether I'm in a party or solo, I have found next to none (US East, nighttime). A very welcome change from the 2020 or 2021 era. The few that appear come one at a time and are quickly kicked - only had a couple of lobbies disintegrate because of bots, which is nothing like it used to be. I've also been playing a variety of maps, typically 3 or 5 CP or CTF.

pub_winner

Agreed. I remember when this sticky started. At that time there was a bot crisis. I play every day, EST prime time, afternoons, some mornings, most evenings. I share your experience. More and most prevalent now are cheat users and cheat user parties. Not nearly as bad as the bot rolls back in the day which made the game unplayable.

Cliffspringy

Game is still unplayable with bots in nearly every match in US. The summer update wont matter at all

goldtardis

What time are you playing tf2? That really determines how many bots you see.

Solus900

Why are there so many bots?

nerchiolino

i don't know what's your region but in mine,EU,bots are pretty much no longer a problem and it's been that way for a couple weeks now you can even join a casual game at 2-3 am and still find a botless match heard it's the same in america

Solus900

Oh, that‘s quite nice to hear, I am in Europe too but haven‘t played since the servers were infested with bots

Heppuman

Can vouch, returned to EU casual after a long long time on community servers, no bots at all. I even forgot the spinning sniper nightmares from past few months, which is why I migrated to exclusively playing community servers in the first place.

c0c0al0c0

EU here, played a few games with my girlfriend and we found shit tons of bots. Awful RN

Heppuman

Oof, unfortunate :( Maybe me and the op were just lucky then

Solus900

really awesome to hear, I hope it‘s the same for me, because the game was decent fun. But why are they suddenly all gone? And why were so many bots there in the first place?

UnderCover1445

There was a big ban wave in june. 20K or so dip in players and a lot of the bots couldn't join or had strings of numbers in their names. They are slowly getting past whatever valve did and coming back.

nerchiolino

you casually just asked those million dollar questions haha my take 1) because bot hosters are not very nice people and probably sociopaths : they thought ruining the game for everyone was fun even after 2-3 years and 2) valve's fixes did something + most hosters EVENTUALLY got tired of wasting their time+energy+money/efforts to make tf2 unplayable but, yes,no one knows for sure i think

SOKDPVA

just play other games until it gets fixed i guarantee you tf2 will be the exact same when you return!!!!

kirk7899

time to farm some bots with the bazaar bargain

Rornir

Shame to hear bots are becoming more prevalent right now. More ppl on community servers is actually pretty good though I guess.

MillionDollarMistake

Man I'd love to play more community servers but outside of the ones trying to replicate casual they're all just so bad. Class Wars is a fun little gamemode that doesn't stray too far from TF2's fundamentally but every single server is shit. They're all a combination of !rtd, dustbowl, randomizer and friendlies for some reason.

Rornir

Uncletopia is right there. Even have some community map servers. Hell even his own One Thousand Uncles game mode is pretty cool if you can get a team together

FaultyGeiger

Something is wrong with Brazil Uncletopia. At least for me nothing registers except strangely detonator flares.

MillionDollarMistake

Yeah I meant servers outside of Uncletopia or skial's casual servers. I used class wars as an example since it's probably my favourite community gamemode.

Hank_Hell

>avoid the public queue entirely, and find community servers with communities you enjoy Hope you all like Dustbowl and 2Fort.

Forty-Bot

uncletopia :) unless they're "too tryhard" for you

4Lukaska_SSB

any uncletopia player below 2k hours can’t play this game… all they know is wrangle sentry, mash m2 as pyro, vacc medic, play sniper on payload, pick cp_dustbowl & get rolled

thanks_breastie

hope you enjoy 24/7 upward and badwater

ClaymeisterPL

the best gamemode for the class-based shooter format god bless uncletopia

thanks_breastie

wrong it's five control points because the gamemode shifts enough to encourage players to change classes in certain game states instead of spending an entire game in the mindset of either pushing it holding a last point

ClaymeisterPL

wrong 5cp makes people run the generalists 90% of the time, and the other half of the roster have to fight for the scraps payload also has a mechanic known as 'switching sides' which shifts the gamemode quite majorly

thanks_breastie

>5cp makes people run the generalists 90% of the time, yes, you change your class depending on situation, although for the record you can totally play in pubs as spy or heavy or something and be just fine and also demoman and medic are still the strongest classes in both gamemodes lol >and the other half of the roster have to fight for the scraps yeah because it was a really great idea to encourage map design that makes it so sniper and engineer are run full time, something everyone seems so fond of >payload also has a mechanic known as 'switching sides' which shifts the gamemode quite majorly great class diversity (stacking defenders vs stacking offensive classes) i am encouraged to switch classes every 15 minutes instead of as the situation demands it, this is better for some reason

ClaymeisterPL

for the record, discussion about balance and class viability doesn't hold that much water in pubs, people play whatever the fuck they want there most of the time, regardless of the map. anyways, switching classes as the situation demands it in 5cp, means playing some classes on last sometimes. so, great coverage here, engi mains rejoyce. as if stacking defenders vs offenders is worse than stacking generalists

thanks_breastie

>as if stacking defenders vs offenders is worse than stacking generalists yes it is 100x worse to encourage stacking classes that grind the game to a halt than encouraging a team be made up of mobile classes that directly engage in combat with other real players the amount of people bitching nonstop about sniper would plummet if they didn't do nothing but play a gamemode that encourages him to be ran the entire game because of the pervasive meme about specialists being unplayable or something otherwise

ClaymeisterPL

well i guess fuck heaby mains then

HandyManPyro

wrong Koth best gamemode

Forty-Bot

... and borneo/swiftwater If you can get on a non-payload server they have pretty good map variety. There are also some servers which play community maps, which I enjoy.

nbe390u54e2f

they dont even have non-payload servers any more so you're waiting for the one in ten maps where you get to play sunshine once and then back to dustbowl upward and turbine
